kasumi 37 Posted November 28, 2014 How long did it take for your gas pains to completely go away? For the most part, I'm thankfully pain free, but when I lie down too low, my chest hurts from the gas, and my shoulder hurts on and off. I am so ready for this gas to go away! mimisturn 6 Posted November 28, 2014 For me it was horrible! Could not take a deep breath and the left shoulder pain was really bad. It took about 2 weeks for the gas to leave my body! Hang in there, it's just a matter of time!
joatsaint 2,814 Posted November 28, 2014 (edited) I was pain free by the 5th day. I still felt a little uncomfortable pressure occasionally for a few more days, but no pain. Walking is the best cure. Get up and move (even if it's just a trip to the bathroom and back ) Every little movement will help your body push the gas out of your system. I went into surgery knowing that walking was the best cure (from reading all the posts on Bariatricpal). So, even though I wasn't feeling up to it, when the nurses came to get me, I got up and walked as far as I could. And when I got home, it was wet and cold outside, I paced back and forth from the kitchen to the living room as often as I could. kasumi 37 Posted November 28, 2014 I definitely walk when I can. It's just frustrating that the actual incisions haven't caused me half the discomfort as this gas.
