Willowwind 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Hey guys and girls! I was banded on May 2nd, 2007. I've lost 15 pounds so far, but that's just from the liquid diet part. I am however having some issues that I thought you guys could give me some advice on. I'm feeling regretful about my surgery. I feel sad. I question myself as to whether I made the right decision. Is this normal? Has anyone else kinda gotten depressed afterwards? Anywho, nice to meet y'all. I'll be postin round these parts! Love and happiness, Will
Iluvharleys 15 Posted May 18, 2007 Welcome to LBT and to bandland! I have heard a lot of people that have felt that way at first, but as the time went on and they learned how to work with the band they felt different. Good Luck!
*susan* 1,709 Posted May 18, 2007 Hi and welcome. I understand your feeling regretful. I am assuming right now you are still on liquids? Once you are able to return to regular eating, I think those feelings will dissipate. Especially once you reach proper restriction and you start really losing the weight. Willowwind 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Yeah, I'm not on liquids anymore. My Doc said if I tolerated scrambled eggs then I can move on to baked chicken/fish. I tried baked fish last night for the first time and it was heaven. I still feel kinda depressed but it makes sense that it will stop when I start seeing serious results. Thanks for your words of encouragement. Love and happiness!
sjmimi 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Hi Willow, Congratulations on your band, and your progress! I just had the surgery last Friday (5/11). So far everything has been great - maybe a little daunting - but great. I can totally relate to what you're saying. Sorta like "buyers remorse". I saw a pizza Hut commercial yesterday, and for a few minutes I had this panicky feeling that I want this thing off my stomach. I want to eat 2 or 3 pieces of pizza (or 4 or 5). I wanna order Chinese food! These emotions are normal. It's our old emotions trying to pull us back into the false safety and comfort of too much food - whenever we want it, and however much we want! It doesn't feel good to try and change what we're used to, even though we know our lives depend on that change. Sit with the feelings for awhile, then let them move on. They will. We're taking control of our health and our lives - and once that sinks in it WILL FEEL GREAT! Best of luck to you. Keep in touch!
