BitterSweet* 835 Posted December 13, 2014 I feel terribly bad for you. I hope that discharge plan includes infusing parenteral nutrition (TPN or PPN) and not just IV fluids. You are at a high risk for developing malnutrition if you haven't already. Why won't they repair your sliding hiatal hernia? And how is your wife?
nprcowboy 533 Posted December 13, 2014 She's doing well. She didn't come see me today. Been lonely here. As far as hernia they decided that wasn't the issue nor will be. So they know nothing. If I can get TPN iv us me sometime to find other specialists. Without it, at home I die with lack of fluids. So I knew better than to check out against medical advice. Heck they put the scopAlomine seasickness patch on me a day are giving me phenagran for nausea. That's it besides the iv fluids
Cota1262 40 Posted December 13, 2014 This is what I'm terrified of. I'm self pay and afraid something will go wrong. They don't know what is wrong but they are sending you home anyways? That's scary. I hope they get it figured out soon. I am so sorry that this is happening to you.
nprcowboy 533 Posted December 14, 2014 OK I'm home. Home nursing coming soon to hook me up on round he clock iv fluids and meds. At least I won't get sicker until such time this gets figured out. Also going to find specialist tomorrow. So not out of woods but can live until can tolerate Fluid on my own.

IcanMakeit 1,318 Posted December 14, 2014 What a horror show you've been living through. I hate to make hasty assumptions, but it seems like your surgeon is not very competent. Insurance notwithstanding, you need another professional opinion. Please contact your PCP and tell him/her everything you have been through. Make sure it is all documented. Your PCP might be hesitant to step on your surgeon's toes, but make him/her understand that you feel your life is threatened. I think that would get your PCP involved. Doctors don't like to look bad in front of their colleagues. With more scrutiny, your surgeon might start thinking more thoroughly and creatively about your issues. I'm really wishing you the best. cdenney123 103 Posted December 15, 2014 Im glad your home thats the best place to be instead of in and out of the ER so many infections you can get. Hopefully with home care and maybe you can get a Dr to home visit and monitor you everything will work out. I keep thinking about you and thank you for sharing all this its important to tell stories like this...

nprcowboy 533 Posted December 20, 2014 I am starting TPN IV tonight due to malnutrition. At least it will help me get nutrition so I'm not so weak anymore. I have no energy now, Lathargic. Specialist said could be ILEAS and should just clear up on its own in time. Sounded like temp paralysis of lower intestine or part of new stomach section. Not sure. Once my nutritional values are restored I may get better. Will keep you updated
BitterSweet* 835 Posted December 20, 2014 @@nprcowboy, his assumption of an ileus was based on your exam today or from reviewing your radiology films? Did your CT and abdominal x-rays show an ileus? That TPN is long overdue; I said it two weeks ago. Smh.
Countrygrrl 450 Posted December 20, 2014 Wow. That's rough. I hope your doing better. Prayers for healing
