Heading back to ER again, prayers please

Recommended Posts

@@nprcowboy - I hope they resolve things for you soon. At this point, a bypass might be better than these back and froth trips to the ER. Glad to hear your wife is doing well.

was a nightmare today with getting seen. I made appt Monday for today and confirmed it would be with Dr Martinez who I trust. I confirmed yesterday when they called. I confirmed today at check in that Dr Martinez was seeing me. When I get in exam room, I ask nurse that I am seeing him right? She says NO, will be the student nurse practitioner! WHAT. I got so missed and demanded the doctor, Martinez was not there today so they pulled Dr Gonzalvo from hospital to see me, he surgeon that screwed me up that I can't stand, has no bedside manor or seems he cares and then lays doom.and gloom on me. gist is I will be direct admitted tomorrow and Tuesday will put tube back in and botox my pylorus valve. If that work after they pull tube in couple weeks and give a couple more weeks to show botox worked then they will perform surgery to shave my pylorus valve to help relax it same as botox does but permanent . If that doesn't work then gastric bypass and if that doesn't work which surgeon has a similar case where it didn't then remove my stomach altogether and hooking esophagus to my small.intestine. this is how this clown scared me today and still doesn't know answers and when i suggested the eating study to confirm gastroparesis diagnosis he said because I have the sleeve wouldn't be effective study so basically no way to confirm just treat me as such without knowing. Wtf. I called mayo clinic they can't get me in to April and referred me.back to the same surgeons as one is an alumnus of Mayo. So I'm.aggregated, depressed, and sick. And dreading another 4 to 5 days in that hospital and their care. I demanded the surgeons my wife had who I trust when.I called and spoke to Dr Martinez who was on call.

Anyway, if anyone lives around Tampa, I'll take any visitors as no one around here to visit me except my wife for a few hours on Sunday then she has to work. Love to you all, keep sending prayers and prayers to all of you in your journeys

I'm not a doctor by any means.. But that sounds EXACTLY a like what I had Gerd.

I've been treated with pretty much all the reflux meds and am.way past that now, none changed anything. Ty for idea though as I'll take any opinions on what can be, totally seems.like gastroparesis

Is there any other bariatric hospital you can go to? This is so jacked up. I seriously think that you need to go somewhere else. That guy sounds like a quack.

You might want to ask the surgeon what he is going to do about the damage to your vagus nerve that he caused. If he says he didn't cause damage to your vagus nerve, insist he explain why he is of that opinion. I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on tv, but a lot of your symptoms including gastroparesis can occur after abdominal surgery if the surgeon damages the vagus nerve.

Just a thought.

I agree. My wife mentioned that 2 months ago but he denies of course and he thinks gastroparesis is full paralysis of stomach but that's not true it's the delayed gastric emptying and is defined by a slower than normal rate of contractions, not necessarily a full shutdown

Just catching up on everything you've been going through. I am so sorry that you care from the Dr's isn't what you asked for. I personally think you should start talking to a lawyer. That being said, don't start to sue until you are stabilized. If you sue your care could be even more compromised as then the Drs really won't want to help you. Also, make the appt at the mayo clinic and then continue to call and ask if the've got any cancelations or openings. Just keep advocating for yourself as best you can. If I lived in FL I would definitely come visit you in the hospital. Keeping you in prayer.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
