Smooth move is my answer/go to when I feel like I've eat to much

Recommended Posts

I had surgery to improve my health. The side effects of senna scare the s h i t (figuratively) out of me: "Don't use senna for more than two weeks. Longer use can cause the bowels to stop functioning normally and might cause dependence on laxatives. Long-term use can also change the amount or balance of some chemicals in the blood (electrolytes) that can cause heart function disorders, muscle weakness, liver damage, and other harmful effects."

I just ordered my Smooth Move tea for the first time and now I think I might not be taking it considering the info that I'm now seeing. I just thought it was a herbal tea that helped with BM's. Am really opposed to taking any sort of laxative for myself...been there done that in my youth...guess I'm back to prunes and chia seeds and ....making myself get that Water in. Seems to be the key to stopping my Constipation

Good luck everyone - wishing everyone a better time with BMs

I've used Smooth Move on and off for years now. No side effects. Seena is all natural and it comes in the form of a tea.

Smooth Move is very gentle. It might not be for everyone.

I highly doubt it will make your bowels not function correctly.

I have heard of smoothe move tea on this board on another post/thread but what I don't know is where I can buy it. Can anyone offer some help there?

I buy mine at Walgreens and I have also seen it at Walmart. It is located in the medication area and is on the shelf with Miralax, dulcocet, and the other laxatives and stool softeners. A box is under $5 and it works great for Constipation relief as an occasional help.

Seriously. Wait until you get old. Elderly people have Constipation issues so badly that they are frequently admitted for fecal impactions that require surgery to resolve. They are routinely prescribed meds to combat the constipation, and meds containing senna is always on the list......and they have to use it daily, sometimes permanently.

Abuse of anything is never a good thing, however, I don't see a problem here. Someone abusing laxative drugs / teas or whatever may end up with a bowel issue, but if that were to occur it would be temporary. The "dependency" would not be some life-long plaque that would permamantly affect the bowels. Peristalsis will resume on its own unless a brain or spinal injury is present - affecting neuronal pathways to the bowels.

There is nothing wrong with occssionally using this product (unless your surgeon advised you not to), and twice per week would be considered occasional. Abuse would be doubling up the dose and using it several times per day, not per week.

I bought 2 different flavors of the tea to use after surgery. I haven't tasted either of them yet, but I know that I am very prone to Constipation when taking pain medications. I'm a whimp when it comes to pain, so I know I'll get constipated, and want to be able to have something to handle it before it gets too bad.

I have taken 1-2 tablespoons of psyllium husk Fiber per day for years. I stopped during my pre-op diet and started again once I was on mushies.

Omg I've used that tea in the past. I don't know about anyone else, but I had the worse cramping and aches from it.

But those went away soon after the tea kicked in lol

Any stimulant laxative, "natural" or not, can cause dependence. Opt for the stool softeners for long term use, i.e. docusate or miralax. Bulk forming products, like psyllium are good too for fiber and for regularity. Remember, not everybody has to "go" everyday. Regularity is relative. If you like the taste of Smooth Move, try throat coat in the same brand...yummy licorice flavor :-)

I use it quite often. Usually anyplace that sells tea has it. I've gotten it at the grocery stores and the health stores like GNC and Vitamin Shoppe. If your local grocery store doesn't have it you should find it there.

I drank a cup of Smooth Move tea last week & my insides hurt pretty bad all night! Kept me from sleeping comfortably. I prefer non stimulant to stimulant. Hurts too much!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
