Measuirng & weight food

Does anyone have any idea what "1 cup of food is". One cup of peas is vastly different from one cup of lettuce leafs.:guess

That has been a question I have had for a while too.

Right now I dont do any "measuring" but rather look at my portions and say that is enough, or too much. I have a pretty good feeling what will fill me up right now, and I try to stick to that.

I know there is the odd time that I overeat but I think that I am doing okay because things are going in the right direction.

I am not sure if I am restricted yet, but I like where I am at interms of not feeling hungry but how much I am able to eat.

Hi Doddie, where have you been? How was your first fill and do you feel the restriction now? Is there a difference in how much goes down?

Gaffer have you had a fill?

below copied from another thread in which the same query was posed:

don't forget also that "one cup" can be considered as once cup of "chewed" food.....in which case it all ends up being the same. Imagine one cup of "chewed" lettuce (ewww!...) but it is a lot more that way than puting 2 lettuce leaves into a cup.

What I mean is that your pouch can hold approx 1 cup of "chewed" food....don't think of it so much as whole.

That being said....after about a week on "real food" I started doing what Gaffer described.....

Gaffer have you had a fill?

Yes, I have had 2 fills to date. The first was 4CC and the second 1CC. My band holds 14CC total. I think that I might go for another 1CC at the end of the month to see how that goes, but right now I am pretty happy with the way things are so I dont see much point in messing with it.

My philosophy lately has been I have enough restriction to make me feel full, but I am not retricted to the point that I have to learn disipline and how to make the proper choices.

Andrew

Damnit, why does the edit function on this board STILL not work?

What I was trying to say in my last post was that I am restricted to the point that I feel full, but I still have to teach myself disipline and to make the proper food chioces.

Hi: Donna D and others. Donna I have had my first fill and I have restrictions. I find I can eat a salad plate full of food. Sometimes 1 cup sometimes 2 cups. I am maintaining but not loosing. That is why I posted I am confused on portions. When I overeat, I do get a strong feeling of soreness and sometimes I chuckup. I go to a bariatric surgeon recommended by the TLBC for my next fill and further followup here in Vancouver. I no longer have to worry about going to Toronto thank goodness. I will still travel to TO once a year for them to check the band as recommended in the DVD by Dr. Joffe. How are you doing?

I just had my first upchuck/ I was starving and had 1/2 a toasted bagel with some tuna on it. I really thought I chewed well but I really did eat too fast. Not a very nice feeling but I think it has subsided for now. I will be more careful in the future. Try really hard to make good food choices and hopefully by the time I see you next year we will be too skinny to recognize each other.

Hi: Wow! under 200. Isn't that a great accomplishment. You are moving guns afire. I am doing OK as far as chewing and portions BUT I did upchuk yesterday because I ate some "broadbeans" and they just didn't like to be eaten. My biggest problem is ongoing and that is to get exercising. I just am not motivated consistantly. I go on a three week aquafit regime then I stop. I haven't exercised this week. Must get moving one way or another. Doddie

I know that feeling. I honestly haven't done anything in the way of exercise. I do rarely go for a short walk to the mailbox but that's it. I KNOW that we really have to do something. I am going to try to at least do a 20 minute walk starting today. I hope you will do the same. xo D

Hi: It would be interesting to know how many others find exercising difficult to get ones head around. How about it out there. What do you do to get yourselves moving??? Doddie

exercise is not (and has never been) a problem for me. It has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Mostly because I enjoy it. That is the trick....finding something you enjoy so it doesn't seem like a chore and something you "have to do". And, what works for one, won't work for another. Also...variety variety variety so you don't get bored.

Remember.....takes 21 days to change a habit (of doing the "habit" for 21 days).

For me it is about incorporating it into one's daily routine. Eat, sleep, work, work-out. I cant say that I like working out, and there are many other things that I would rather be doing with that time. What I do like are the results that I get from it. Now, I am getting the weight loss, but it also allows me to be more flexible with my diet and if I want to indulge in a treat from DQ or pizza for dinner one night a week I can without too much guilt.

One of the other things that I get from working out is a guage to help me make better decisions. As an example, many times I will look at the calories from a certain food and think, I have to spend X amount of time on the eliptical if I want to eat this.

Kinda like these muffins my wife bought this weekend. I thought, "oh they are muffins, they are bad, but they cant be that bad." I tried to look at the calories, but the label had been ripped off at that point. I ate the muffin. Later that day I found the part of the label that had the calories. 510 Calories:omg: :omg: :omg: .

I nearly craped my pants, and thought to myself, well there is a whole workout in my mouth.

Once you start working out, you will also notice other benefits. You will sleep better, you will feel better, and you will start to notice the positive changes that go with it. I think many people are intimidated to work out, especially at a gym. Dont be, if we were all perfect there would be no need for gyms. Try and find some thing that you enjoy and do it.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
