Before surgery, my periods were like clockwork, heavy the first 2-3 days, then normal flow, and lasted the full 7 days. I started the day after my sleeve surgery, and because of the heparin shots, it was excessively heavy and lasted about 10 days. I should have started again a week ago, but I'm not even showing signs of starting yet. Before anyone asks, no, I'm not pregnant. I'm 39 years old with 3 adult sons, a teenage daughter, and 2 grandbabies. I had my tubes cut, tied, and burnt 16 years ago, and hubby had a vasectomy just to make sure! LOL! Anyway, I've been reading some of your posts here talking about the surgery regulating your cycle...anyone have the experience of it becoming irregular like me?

I started the week of and was on my last day when I had surgery. I was really worried reading everyone's posts as I am also clockwork. Thank goodness mine came right on time, BUT it was extremely hard this time. Really heavy flow with big clots. And really bad cramping. That I AM NOT used to. Hope it gets better. And hope u start soon!

I had really bad cramps the 2 times I had my period after.. The worst since I had my child I was bent over because of the pain. I asked the Dr if the surgery had anything to do with the cramping and they said no. I think its because Im off of birth control.

My cycle is completely screwed up. It is finally starting to level off, but for a long time I had no idea how to track it or what it was going to be like. There was even once that I thought I was pregnant because my head could not wrap around the fact that I am not my same normal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
