cdenney123 103 Posted November 26, 2014 So I was having issues eating food and Im 6 weeks out. I went to my Dr for a check up and somehow I missed the fact I need to take a bite every 10 Minutes then I wont have the stacking issue. I got a little worried because I was chewing like crazy but would take another bite after then I would be done and uncomforatble afterwards. He said that it could cause the sleeve to stretch if I keep that up my gosh that scared me.. I rather just keep drinking my Protein Shakes and Water it seems so less complicated. Elode 8,093 Posted November 26, 2014 @@cdenney123 I've never heard of waiting 10 mins before each bite?! I'm going to have to look that up!
cdenney123 103 Posted November 26, 2014 Yeah I was shocked as well but needed to find out why I was having a hard time eating it was new to me as well. I thought If I just chewed it to death I woull be good.
laurenella82 625 Posted November 26, 2014 But aren't you supposed to keep your meal consumption at 30 minutes??? So if you can only take a bite every 10 you get 3 bites....is that enough for you at this point??
Turk 8 Posted November 26, 2014 (edited) I've never heard the take a bite every 10 minutes. I was told to take about 30 mins to teat. To take small bites and chew thoroughly and to stop immediately when feeling full even if it happened in less than 30 mins. Bobby46 327 Posted November 26, 2014 I'm 12 weeks out. I have never waited 10 mins between bites. I measure out my food. 1/2 cup. I can finish it in 20 mins eating slowly and chewing well. If the food is dense then there is some left. Measuring, using small plates or bowls, small utensils, small bites, no liquids before or after for about 30 mins, Protein first, then veggies and a bite or 2 of whole grains. My doc said you cant "stretch" the stomach but over time your stomach fully heals and will relax. He assured me that the only way to gain weight after this surgery is grazing all day, eating sweets and chips while grazing and not eating lean Protein and veggies at each of your meals. The weight comes back from bad choices not from over eating....the surgery takes the over eating possibility away....that's the main point of it. Good Luck! It will be fine...you will figure out what works for you
