Vitamins

Recommended Posts

My doctor told me that you have to take Vitamins with a Protein because the vitamins need to bind to a protein in order to offer benefits. If you take them with liquids like milk, they will just pass through your system. So I went to my pharmacist and asked if this was true, and my pharmacist agreed with my doctor.

Any thoughts? I have an awful time taking vitamins. The only time I'm able to consistently take them is with a glass of milk in the morning, and then I don't eat any food till noon. So, I'm I wasting my time and money, or am I getting any benefit?

There is Protein in milk, Lisa. If you take them maybe with Water I guess you might not get the protein-bonding effect, but I'd think milk would be fine.

Michelle, I can't get myself to take them at night. I guess just the fact that liquid vitamins are on the market means that it's okay to take with liquids. The upset stomach is a separate matter - yes, they do make your belly sick if there's no food in there, so there's supposed to be 2 reasons to take with food - to keep belly happy and to bind to a Protein. I drink soy chocolate milk in the morning, and a Vitamin is about the only thing that fits in my pouch in the morning, so I'll keep doing that.
