If you weren't obese "all" of your life, what is it that caused you to become obese ?

@ I have looked at trauma counseling for PTSD and wanted someone experienced in that as well as used a CBT approach and maybe this method that involved something with eye movement (I forget the name). My crappy insurance covered only ONE facility and they had no one with the required experience. The LCSW that I met with for the intake was awful. I am getting new insurance coverage next year and will select a better plan. Then I plan to address the PTSD -- which BTW was related to my plastic surgery after weight loss. Yup, my experience was not all rainbows. Anyway, I wanted to ask about the treatment you went through, specifically what was it like, how long did it take, and how did it help? I understand this may be personal and that you may not feel comfortable sharing publicly. Please send me a private message. I surely would appreciate it. Thank you.

@@Cody's mom good thoughts! thanks!!!

I have been in psychotherapy for almost 10 yrs for PTSD...I went thru it real bad several yrs ago but it started on my 16 yrs ago..talk therapy and meds has helped me termendously. I got to the bottom of alot of issues (my weight was one symptom) and after getting professional perspective an thoughts it improved alot. and I also do alot of natural techniques to get thru them. panic attacks and anxiety was out the roof for the longest time. but the past 2 yrs its totlly turned around. still on a med but will be on it for as long as I need it. coping skills help alot...:)

Don't mind at all. I did something called Somatic Experiencing Therapy. I sent you a PM with more personal info... Hope it helps!

Marriage! Of course, that is somewhat of a joke, but at the same time it is not. I really think I just became very comfortable in my life and didn't feel that I needed to work on myself. Before I knew it, my weight had gotten WAY out of control.

It goes both ways Dave. I was holding my own till I fell in love. Lol

For me, it was not cooking. I hate cooking at home, so I always grabbed something on the go. :(

Had my 2nd child at 32. And all hell broke loose! My body/metabolism went bonkers. I've yo-yo'd for 10yrs. Hitting 210 was a major wake up call. Enough is a enough.

I waited far too long after my soaring weight gain during and after pregnancy to get my surgery. Good for you for not waiting any longer!

I was raped at 13. I have Rape Trauma PTSD. I medicated feelings of worthlessness and dirtiness by binging on soda and carbs. I underwent Intensive Outpatient Therapy in 2009 after seeing my rapist at a local supermarket. When he recognized me, he laughed. I waited for him to come out of the store and was going to run him over with my car. My baby boy saved his life by calling my cell phone.

Cripes, Charlotte, I am so sorry!!!!! And to add insult to injury this animal laughs at you?!?! I am sure many women reading this would understand if you HAD run him down. I believe that you could have him prosecuted, if you wanted, as I don't think there is a statute of limitations on child rape. The most important thing is that you heal, whatever it takes.

I went to a survivor's meeting many years ago to support a friend and all of the women there were obese. It is not unusual to become obese after sexual abuse. I wish you healing, my friend.

I got fat four years ago, after turning 40 and moving to a city where I had a quality of life. This life consisted of socializing, eating, and drinking, partying - all of this in a city for lovers of good food, good music, and good times. Single, with no kids, and looking to have fun in my new city. At some point I was exercising, but the weight just stopped falling off. I got heavier, and stuff started hurting - back, knees. At 5'2", I got up to 215 pounds, and hated myself and the way I looked! I vowed to stop the madness where it was! A hater was my motivator: she had a really irrational reaction to discovering a friend of hers had possibly had Bariatric surgery. I made it known that if my insurance covered it, I'd consider having it. I quietly started the process, and had the surgery. My first outing with the girls was today - had a nice time eating braised chicken and creamed spinach, with unsweetened ice tea. I'm six weeks post-op, and down almost 30 pounds. Couldn't be happier! :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
