Liprippa 58 Posted November 23, 2014 (edited) Ok folks made this for dinner tonight and the non bypass side of the family inhaled them!!!! Very very easy for me to eat tonight as well. I have included ballpark nutritional information I added up after the fact. Start to finish took about 5-10 minutes!!! Quick Crab Cakes (Makes 4 servings) 1 can of crab meat in Water 4oz 3/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs 1/2 cup of finely minced onion 2 Tablespoons of Green Onion Minced 1 egg 1/2 tsp of Seasoning Salt 1/2 tsp of Garlic powder 1 tsp of black pepper(little less if you don't want them spicy) 2 Tablespoons of Butter (held) Open can of crab meat and drain water, food process onion together to fine mince and drain water. In a medium bowl combine all ingredients (EXCEPT BUTTER). Form into 4 patties. Melt butter in frying pan and place patties in pan over medium to medium high heat. Fry on each side about 3-5 minutes until desired color. (I did mine on the softer side for obvious reasons, and made the rest for the family a little crispier) Approximate nutrition information per serving: (I only counted have of the butter in nutrition information as there was about half of butter left in pan.) Calories 155 Cal from fat 50 Fat 6g Sat Fat 2g Cholesterol 85mg Sodium 725mg Carbs 17g Protein 9.5 g Talk about a nice break from Protein Shakes, and pureed stuff! This is my recipe I developed tonight on the fly. I was quite impressed with myself if I do say so. Elode 8,093 Posted November 23, 2014 @@Liprippa I made the same thing but didn't use bread crumbs and they help together perfectly! Took the carbs out! I also Sprinkled mine with some O bay seasoning! Thanks for sharing!
Liprippa 58 Posted November 23, 2014 I think you could take the bread crumbs down a 1/4 cup maybe, but I don't think they would have stayed together and I think the consistency would not have been right. I am not trying to make real food into diet food, but rather diet food that is no different than real food. That means flavor, consistency, no aftertaste, etc. It is easy to make diet food, but VERY difficult to make diet food taste 100% normal.
Kindle 8,667 Posted November 23, 2014 If I remember right, I replaced a scoop of the bread crumbs with 1 scoop of Un jury unflavored. They still stayed together well. I used Old Bay in mine, too. I think I'll make some tomorrow and let you know. I mostly end up winging these things...

I always tried to find ways to sneak extra Protein into everything, even normally carby dishes. ...add vanilla Protein Powder to the egg batter of French toast ...add Garden of Life Raw Fit, an extra egg and unflavored powder to Bob's Red Mill whole grain pancake mix. Tastes even better than regular. I make a big batch, freeze em and have 30 second microwave Protein pancakes anytime I Want! ....mix my whole grain Cereal (Kashi Golean or bran nuts) into Greek yogurt watered down with a little milk. ...use Premier Protein vanilla as my coffee Creamer. Or even the chocolate when I'm in the mood for a mocha. ....muscle milk cake batter protein powder, milk and cottage cheese tastes like cheesecake! ....OJ and vanilla protein powder frozen makes a great dreamsicle It's crazy how many new things I've discovered that are so yummy, and still good for me.
