January 21 - My Life Change

Recommended Posts

Hi all you January Sleevers!!! I can't wait. A new year and a new me!!!

After my Dietitian's visit the other day I am starting to implement some new habits BEFORE my operation...

1) I have a 2 litre (68oz) Water jug on my kitchen bench and I'm "trying" to get closer to being able to drink all this in a day

2) I usually have 1tsp of sugar in my green tea, now I'm down to 1/2 tsp with the goal being none

3) I'm trying to get more aware when I get that 'full feeling' and stop eating

4) My chronic Plantar Fasciitis in both feet, means I cannot walk very far, but having a couple of short walks every day around the house and outside even if it does hurt. I will need to do alot more, but some weight is going to have to come off first

Good Luck Everyone...it will be here before we know it!

Congrats on setting a date and getting ready with the changes! I was happy I made a lot of changes pre-op, so it wouldn't be such a huge adjustment. Best of luck with everything!

I had surgery years ago for plantar fascitis. Get some comfortable shoes that have a slight rise on the heel. This takes the pressure off of your heel and displaces it to the rest of your foot. Good luck with your bariatric surgery.

@ WOOT WOOT! January is coming up soon, eh? I am also trying to get into good habits before the D-date....so happy to see you are as well :)

The Water thing for me is pretty tough, too. I downloaded a Water reminder app on my phone and am astounded how often it wants me to drink water!!! I saw another user get a water bottle and mark it with how much to drink every hour--- I think I am going to do that. I got lazy and would take a sip every time it reminded me :/

also I do empathise..I suffer with Plantar Faciitis..last year I had to have injections in my feet as they were so painful..people who hasnt experienced this..you cant even take one step..it IS excruciating! Then what happens...you become less mobile to zero.that equals weight gain!

Congrats to all!

My date was the 21st had to stay one day at the hospital cause that's how the Dr rolls. I walked around the ward for about 5 min. Got home and did three 5 min walks on the tredmill.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
