jasminnegrin 19 Posted November 22, 2014 Hi guys it's me again I'm still on my liquid diet. six days post op but very soon I will have to start taking Calcium and wherever I come from we only have the HUGH white pill that I will never be able to take! Not even crushed. so I'm looking for any other substitute for it. I was looking online and found out that in America there is a chewable kind of creamy calcium 'candy' that you can take after a bariatric surgery so my question for you, did you ever tried it? Do you use it? what's the best company or flavor? I really want to order them to Israel and I guess it will take a while but I have to do everything I can to get them so please share your information. Thank you so much, J

roundisashape 712 Posted November 22, 2014 It's tough, isn't it? calcium citrate is so expensive and unlike Protein shakes, it's a lot harder to get samples. Once you order you're kind of stuck unless you can afford to try again. You might be thinking of the Calcet Creamy Bites. I haven't tried them, though I've heard they are delicious - when I look at the amount my doctor wants me to take every day the cost makes me nauseous. I honestly question the need for calcium citrate in sleevers - I know reduced acid makes Calcium carbonate harder to absorb, but that doesn't seem to be an issue among sleevers like it is for bypass patients. It seems like most of us have more of an acid issue. I got a giant jug of Bariatric Advantage wild cherry chewable calcium (vs chewY - these are like thick wafers, kind of like a giant sweet tart). They're highly rated, but I find them extremely sour and I'll be glad when they're gone. If you PM me your address, I'd be happy to find something to put a couple of them in so they don't get crushed and send them to you to try.
MrsMike1 34 Posted November 22, 2014 Bariatric Advantage have some that come in caramel and Peanut Butter w/chocolate. They are very good! These were recommended by my NUT.
jasminnegrin 19 Posted November 22, 2014 @@MrsMike1 I've Heard that it's really good but I was trying to look on the website and I can understand, are there only available for online purchases or can I find it in Duane Reade or CVS as well?

Elode 8,093 Posted November 22, 2014 @@jasminnegrin I take the chewable OsCal with Vitamin D in "light chiffon"' Flavor. They aren't lemon meringue pie or anything but they are good Enough and they do the job.
maxcimax 220 Posted November 23, 2014 I use the Bariatric Advantage brand of chewable Calcium & I love them. Almost like getting a candy fix twice a day. I think you can only buy them online. I have used the chocolate, caramel & raspberry & have not been disappointed. When you order from their website they always include a free sample of something. I just had their chocolate pudding & it wasn't bad. Texture is rather weird but OK. They also have a lot of other stuff. I just ordered a couple of different kinds of Snacks but haven't tried them yet. This helps with keeping my carbs down. Hope you find what you are looking for. Good luck on your WL journey.
