Protein shakes seem to have so many calories...how do you guys do it and stay under 600 calories/day?

I tried muscle milk this morning...tasted ok. I'm just not a fan of flavored anything like milk, waters, chewable meds, etc. I've got the unflavored stuff on order and going to give that a try in my juice.

How far out are you? Why do you have to stay under 600 calories? I never had calorie limitations or guidelines. I've never really tracked or counted, but I did occasional "spot calorie checks" and was around 1000 calories within 1-2 months post, 1200 calories at 6 months, and am currently maintaining 110% excess weight loss on 1400-1600 calories/day. If you let your body get used to functioning on very low calories, it will be difficult to not gain once you try and eat "normal" in maintenance.

Premier, Muscle Milk, Syntrax Nectar, Syntrax Matrix, Raw Fit, Raw Protein, Spirutein, un jury, and Bariatric Advantage. Tried, but didn't like Jay Robb or Isopure, but it's all an individual preference.

I will drink a pre made shake if I have to, but I put a scoop of Protein in my morning coffee.

@@Iowa_summergirl I eat between 1000 and 1200 calories daily. I'm almost 7 months post op and still losing. Was advised to get between 800 and 1200 calories a day by 1 month post op by my team. I eat closer to 1200 when I do an intense workout.

Premier are my favorite pre-made, and I can get them at costco, which is a bonus for me. I sometimes mix my own just to have some variety.

Truly though, I think they all suck! Of course, I'm not drinking them for the flavor!

I am 4 months post and i really like V-core Vantage from Complete Nutrition. It mixes smoother and much less "gritty" than nectar and Matrix, which were both excellent shakes.< /p>

I just ordered some Syntrax nectar in Cookies and cream, and unflavored GENEPRO off Amazon. I saw some really awesome reviews on these. Of course I got them to stockpile, as I can't even enroll in the bariatric plan till 1/2/15, but you better believe, I'll be calling at 8am bright and early to get this party started!!

Premier vanilla (30 grams)... My tastes changed after surgery so I had to force them down but it's easier now. I'm experimenting with skim milk/yogurt/fruit/protein smoothies now and getting more Protein in with foods. It is hard but worth it!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
