Okay so basically I feel like I am 100% ready for soft food stage.

Now on thanksgiving I will be 4 weeks post op so I feel like . Maybe I'm just saying that so I can eat some turkey lol. But obviously no breads or Pasta or stuff.

Are all the stages different for everyone?

My soft food stage is on week 5.

My soft food stage is at 5 weeks too. My NUT told me that I can have turkey that is very very moist and can add broth or low fat gravy to help with the moistness. Also, I can have mashed potatoes, soft mashed carrots, and green bean casserole if I picked the crunchy fried onions off. My surgery date was 11/4/14.

I do mashed potato now so that's not a problem but besides thanksgiving I just want to move on lol. 14 I can only eat so much mashed potatoes and beans!

I was 10/30/14

I bet! I am only a few days into the mashed/pureed phase. I don't think I could survive this phase without the baked ricotta... it is so amazing and helps me with my pizza and Italian cravings. I have been eating any mashed potatoes yet though, I just have never been a big mashed potatoes fan. I am so focused on Protein right now, so I usually only have a meat and some kind of soft cheese.< /p>

I am just 9 days post op so I am still doing the liquids...I am so looking forward to the pureed food stage. I see my Dr. on the day before Thanksgiving...hoping he releases me to pureed food stage so that I can have a little something at Thanksgiving dinner.

Soft food starts at week 4 for me, but I'll still be in pureed stage for Thanksgiving. That's okay, I'm not a big fan of turkey anyway!

I'm 17 days post-op and started soft foods Tuesday at 14 days. My doctor skips puréed all together. liquid for 2 weeks, soft 2 weeks, then regular eating as tolerated after that.

My surgeon started me on soft foods after my two week check up. I am losing fast and he always seems concerned. Post surgery I'm down 32 lbs in 3 weeks. I'm planning on a little broth soaked Turkey and mashed sweet potatoes for thanksgiving!!!

By one month out, I'll be on normal foods. I just started puréed yesterday, on day #9.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
