I believe I'm in the middle of a bout with dumping syndrome. We had a company Thanksgiving potluck and although I ate very very little, I think some of what I thought was "safe" really wasn't and now I feel horrible. It's been past the required 30 minutes to drink and I'm so thirsty but I'm worried it may make it worse. Does anyone know of I'm at least ok to drink while I wait for this to pass??? FYI, this totally sucks

Sip Water and give it time. You'll be fine

Sipping Fluid won't hurt you, but for me it just makes me barf more. You just have to wait it out. I'm 14 months post-op and yesterday I ate part of a grilled chicken sandwich and then spent the next two hours puking chicken and goo and slime. It was awesome, but it always passes. If your mouth is dry, drink a little bit, keep puking as needed, and you'll feel better at the longest in a few hours. My bouts of slime usually last maybe a half hour if that.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
