Holy cow! My husband and I actually had a consultation appointment with this place that we ended up cancelling. Our plan was to have consultations with him and with Dr. Jay and see which one we felt more comfortable with. In the end, after our appointment with Dr. Jay, we liked him and his staff so much that we just cancelled our other consult appointment.

But I'm glad I was turned down by this place.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2841378/Gastric-sleeve-patient-sues-10M-botched-surgery-resulted-having-legs-amputated-knee.html

This is a far fetched scenario but I almost let this place do my surgery. I'm so glad I went to Mexico.

Wow, that is so sad. It is clearly malpractice. They should not have pierced his aorta. When the doctor went over the list of complications with me, piercing one's aorta was not even on the list - spleen being nicked, yeah. Aorta being severely damaged and the loss of limbs - no.

Poor, poor man.

Unfortuately this happens often with many different types of surgery. My daughter had back surgery and found out after having many problems that not only did her doctor not do the surgery, but they also placed the wrong equipment in her back and she has permanent pain now. She had done much research before picking her doctor and he assured us immediately before the surgery that he himself would be performing the surgery. Needless to say, there's now a malpractice suit in process.

Hopefully your daughter gets a large settlement but its unlikely. Insurance Companies pay less and less and they have one goal in mind... to profit at the expense of others.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
