Make sure to walk to help with the gas pains. Sip Water as often as possible and if you get nauseous you might try hot mint tea. It helped me a ton! You got this!!!

I'm relatively 'newbie' on BP but I'm 5yrs out from banding. I feel SO lucky to have discovered this site!

Am getting back "in-tune" with my band after a bad setback- not due to me nor band failure.

Thankfully, none of that awful post-op gas for me now.

You'll love your results!

I'm down ~100lbs

Looking forward to 'normalizing' with my band again & attaining my goal

Keep us posted how your doing. This site's fabulous for tips, tricks, advise

you will get past being hungry somewhere between the 2nd-4th fill. Everyone's different.

Don't get frustrated with slower weightloss program. It took me 4yrs (at my request due to a slew of ortho surgeries during that time- wanted enough nutrients to heal well).

Then one day, there I was, 100lbs lighter & people were calling me 'skinny' (i'm not @ 160 lol). Still, I feel pretty great most of the time. When I'm not, it's life-stuff, not band-driven.

You're gonna nail this, I know!

Thanks all for the advice. Doing well. Between one week liquid pre op and 6 days post op, I am down 16 pounds. Not really hungry yet so doing what I can to get Protein Drinks in. Been up and out since 2 days post op walking at least 30 minutes. Even got a law school final in 3 days post op :). Very very very sore at port site but it is getting a bit better every day. No regrets - just looking forward to losing the last 53!! Thanks for the support - enjoy your thanksgiving!!

And REST. After my surgery I took the time to rest and relax. This isn't a quick fix. It is the start of a wonderful journey. During my first two weeks, I spent time in organizing my new life and eating habits. Write your Wish list. Clean out your closet, find interesting and good recipes.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
