I followed the Atkins diet for many years. When I was at the meeting about surgery I asked if the Atkins "approach" was a good way of eating after having the sleeve. Yes was the drs answer.

Sugar is my enemy. Plain and simple.

My choice after surgery was to go sugar free but not go low fat. I don't believe in low fat because usually when they remove the fat they add sugar. Don't want it.

I don't eat bacon but I will use half and half in my coffee, 2% milk, butter, olive oil and red meat to name a few.

I don't use much sweetener. I adapted the Atkins to include fruit and sometimes juice.

I snack on almonds.

Just thought I'd share my probably unorthodox way of living.

I am feeling the same way. Atkins was really the only diet i could stick to . Carbs and surgar are major triggers for me so its best to stay AWAY. Milk hurts my stomach and im worried it will stretch my sleeve so im staying away from it as well. I totally agree with you. Im goung to eat protein..veggies..then fruit. No breads/sugar. I want to make to most of my sleeve!

I'm vegetarian, but the only thing that worked for me was eating as clean as possible. I watch white carbs, but I use sugar, raw honey and occasionally maple Syrup.

I was just at the library this afternoon looking at the Atkins diet...I too need to get away from carbs and sugar this might be a good idea

Make sure you get the latest addition of the book/diet where they include more healthy carbs than what the good Dr. initially wrote about.

I didn't have this surgery so I can still eat candy, drink coke, eat cake and ice cream.

I have always believed in this approach. The difference now is, I have the tool to make it successful!

I'm with you. I told the dietician I'm an expert on Atkins/south beach. She said you already know what to do then. Just like others have stated, I would limit the milk though it is a good source of Protein. Try unsweetened almond milk too...it's great.

Thanks! It is surreal. I have been fortunate with no negative side effects. This forum keeps me encouraged when I need it.

I, too am well versed with Atkins. It in combination with the sleeve is awesome! I don't drink much milk, because of the high milk sugars. I use it for an occasional carnation instant Breakfast sf. I love almond milk! The almond/coconut milk is delicious too. I saw at Walmart they now have cashew milk...I'll pass lol. Congratulations on such a huge weight loss!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
