I'm just curious to see if anyone else lives in their head the way I do. I am day 3 post-op, and I woke up scared this morning, just asking myself over and over again if I've made the right choice, etc. Don't get me wrong; I want this. I want to lose weight. I want this for me, but I'm still freaked out a little that I have this permanent thing in my body now, and will it work.

Anybody else felt this way?

I did and still do lol. I am two months post op and still ask myself most days will this work for me? What if it doesn't?

I asked myself these questions mostly in the beginning when I could barely eat after the surgery, and with the pain I felt at the port site.

I am now confident that it will work and your body just needs to get used to this new little device that is doing it's thing underneath the skin.

Good luck with your new way of life :)

It works as long as you stay true to yourself. I am 16 months post op and have 42 pounds to lose until I am at goal. I fell off the wagon and gained 3-4 pounds and as soon as I realized it and was honest with myself I got back on track. Down 3 pounds in 5 days. Just be honest with your self and make the right choices! You will do great!!!!

Lots of people have gone through 'buyer's remorse' so don't worry about feeling that way. Except for a few outlyers, most poelpe will find the success they are looking for as long as they follow the rules and stay strong when chalenges arise.

Just know that I didn't expect this to work for me either and I've lost almost 150 lbs. and gotten my life back so I'm sure that it will work for you as well. Good luck Keeper.

Thank you guys,s o much, for your feedback. I feel a lot better today. Partially because I slept A LOT last night (apparently I needed it!). I just had this weird reality check yesterday. No one tells you that food still looks good and smells good. I mean, early post-op days you don't want to eat anything so it kind of surprised me. It has made me want to avoid cooking dinner for the family because I am used to tasting as I go, etc. And initially I was like, "holidays - phfft - it's all good! I'm not going to want to eat anyway!" and yesterday it hit me that I won't be eating Thanksgiving dinner with my family. It is only the 4 of us so it wasn't going to be a big shebang, but still.

I can't remember if it was you @@gowalking or if it was you @@JustWatchMe but one of you said in an older post that you had to reach a point where you grieved the fact that you couldn't turn to food anymore. That really resonated with me when I read it, and I haven't even hit *that* place yet. But I am trying to be self-aware enough to know that this is going to be as much of a grieving process as a healing one. And today I am okay with that!!! :-)

Just give it time honey. When you are further out, and finding success and all the good stuff that comes with it, it will be much easier. And you will come to realize that it's OK for food to taste and smell good. In fact, it will be better because you will enjoy it more. I know that I do. Rather than focus on quantity, I focus on enjoying the little I eat. Most of the time, that's plenty good with me and with the band, I don't feel hungry after eating my portion. I wish I could give you a glimpse of your life a year from now. It will be wonderful.

I hear ya! It was interesting eating from a small plate at a thanksgiving feast. My 2 small plates for lunch and dinner was less food than anyone's first plate at lunch LOL

Felt oh so weird

I am 4 days post op. I know in my head I did the right thing. I am 49 and while my future health was some what of an unknow, it really wasn't. Diabetes, heart disease, aching body etc.

The band is a tool I need. I now feel like my time in the gym, better eating and behavior changes will pay off.

Trust your self. I honestly believe that those who really are not sure would not do it.

Wear are on a new road. Thats scary. But that road has a lot of great things awaiting us as we travel further down it. Yes, even good eating, lol.

No! I'm the co plate opposite! I pray my band never has issues, I am thankful I have it! So very thankful! I worry all the time something will go wrong and I'll lose the band! So, don't worry, you'll learn to love it! I sure did! I felt same as you before surgery!

Omg yes! I'm 3 days post op and today is the first time I didn't wake up feeling like 'what the hell did I do?!'

I'm sore and tired and gassy still but reading all the stories and advice on here really makes things easier ????

However, heading up to Christmas now, I'm kind of freaked out! The advice on Soup is good, I'll definitely be using that as my go to meal when out. But the social aspect of eating and the comfort of food is something that scares me, that I'll miss it. Or that ppl will be all judgey - only my immediate family know, the rest know that I had a procedure but don't know what.

Excited for the results but scared of the journey.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
