Thanksgiving Puree

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking split pea Soup for Thanksgiving. I'm not sure why this feels Thanksgiving - maybe because it was one of those left over meals my mom always made. A Thanksgiving themed Protein Shake is also a must - pumpkin, Kale, banana or Sweet Potato Pie made with cinnamon bun whey protein. Any other ideas / recipes?

A purée turkey and gray would probably still taste good, And maybe sweet potatoes or mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and cranberry sauce.

When I was on purees food I was able to mince some turkey/chicken and mix it with my mashed potatoes and gravy. My mom makes a wetter stuffing so if you do that it would be easy to eat.

I plan on taking a bite of each food starting with turkey.

If I can't eat after turkey, then I can always put my plate in the fridge and save it!

I feel like I'm becoming the queen of leftovers

Turkey with gravy makes a great purée! Mashed potatoes are a purée already (just go easy because of the carbs).

And don't eat too much! We had our pot luck this week. Although I ate only a tiny bit of turkey, a teeny spoonful of potatoes, and a small bit of dressing with gravy, I thought I was going to die most of the evening. Not from being too full... The food was just too rich for me. :(

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
