Wvcari 84 Posted November 19, 2014 I am 6 days post op and today my allergy medicine Allegra got stuck going down. It was one of the most uncomfortable feelings I've ever had. It's a fairly large pill and I should probably cut it but I just wasn't thinking. After about 20 min I literally felt it pass through the band and I immediately had relief. For the time it was stuck I was sweaty and felt like I couldn't breathe. It was awful. CUT UP BIG PILLS! I never want to feel that again.
CherieRyde 227 Posted November 19, 2014 That's why I switched to a liquid. It doesn't get stuck.
gowalking 10,790 Posted November 19, 2014 Just make sure you can split the medication. Not all meds can be split. It will tell you in the information insert.
amponder 396 Posted November 20, 2014 That sounds awful but glad it went on through, at least you know the band works. ;0)
1Corinthians6:19 53 Posted November 20, 2014 Oh no! Glad it went through. I take thyroid meds, but they are really tiny. I've been extremely afraid to try taking my daily multi Vitamin. Maybe chewys?

Wvcari 84 Posted November 21, 2014 My doc recommended children's chewables. They don't recommend gummies as they may stick.
donna528 1 Posted November 25, 2014 Hi all. New to the group. I had gastric banding on 11/20. The gas has been the worst part, closely followed by the discomfort of eating. My first day on pureed Protein was Sunday. Did great with eggs, but was miserable after chicken. Between abdominal pain and the gas pain in my shoulder, I was so uncomfortable I didn't know what way to turn. The weather has been to nasty to walk outside, so tomorrow when I'm out to the doctors office, I'll stop by and join the local gym. Treadmill miles are just as good as asphalt miles to start off! So excited that I have taken off 29lbs since my first visit to the doctor, 9 of those since surgery. It will only get better from here!
donna528 1 Posted November 25, 2014 Oh, and the part I just despise?! The vitamins-chewable-EIGHT per day. Can't wait to start the capsules!
