Feeling low and exercise for the first time !

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone I am nearly 4 weeks post op and feel very strange. I feel down in the dumps all the time but apparently this is "normal" because of my hormones after surgery ? Secondly I have done exercise for the first time today, thinking it would lift my spirits ? I did a 20 minute Zumba dvd but my own chilled out version as doing properly is too intense ! Afterwards I felt really shaken and light headed ? Has anybody else felt like this after exercise and is anybody feeling low ?

Good to hear from anyone ! Xxx

For the first 4 months after surgery I just walked, nothing too extreme. I usually did this after lunch so I had a bit more energy. I never felt light-headed or anything like that. Are you getting in all of the Water and Vitamins? This is my 4 month mark so I joined a gym and started working out 4-5 times a week, so far so good.

I would just do what your body allows you to do and not push too hard. It does get easier. Best of luck!

I am 8 days post op and am planning on advancing my walking from in and around my house to a treadmill next week. Take it slow and do not do more than your body is physically ready for. It is a very fine line between appropriate and adequate exercise for your stage of healing and having potential to injure yourself. Keep up the great work!

I was walking the treadmill 4 days Post-Op. Slow pace, 2 mph, 15 mins. It felt good. And because I felt good I decided to up it the next day...bad idea! The day after upping the anty I was bed ridden for a couple days...my advice, take your time, listen to your body.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
