I am on a kindle-like device, so I have to type up my post as a reply. I can't see what I am typing otherwise.

A few years ago, the teachers at the elementary school I work at decided to start a Biggest Loser contest. I did not want to participate at the time. My fiance had recently died and I was battling depression. My therapist actually suggested not participating or going on a diet because I was under so much stress and had just started a new psych med.

Even though I made my disinterest known about the competition, someone signed my name up without my permission or knowledge. I was placed on a team with three other teachers in my department and apologized to them because I was not going to be a part of it. Thinking that it was taken care of, I went on with my regular routine.

Two weeks later, I was called on my classroom loud speaker to go weigh in. Thinking someone made a mistake, I ignored it and continued teaching the lesson. Twenty minutes later, a para came to takeover class so they could make me do it. Annoyed beyond hell, I put my calm face on and scurried to the nurse's office and hopped on the scale so that I could get back and continue.

This exact scenario started happening every Friday. I didn't appreciate what was happening since I never wanted to participate in the first place. I wasn't dieting, but lost 12 pounds the first two weeks without trying (probably stress related) and gained it back the following month.

There was a group of teachers from K-2 that won the contest. They took it seriously and lost a lot of weight. I was happy for them. One of these teachers came to tell me over lunch that she was giving me all her fat clothes. The way she told me was like she was doing me this great favor or giving me a X-Mas present. I said that I didn't need anymore clothes, but thanks anyway.

I worked late that day and noticed my car was stuffed with large boxes and garbage bags full of clothes (rural area, left car unlocked). I was insulted. I actually didn't look in the boxes/bags until weeks later and noticed that the clothes were ugly and 1-2 sizes too big. They ALL went to goodwill.

I was confused and hurt by this whole fiasco. I guess it made me look at my physical appearance more in-depth, which led to self loathing and disgust. Maybe I was being overly sensitive? My sister thought so, however, she wanted nothing to do with the clothes either.

Fast forward to the present, and all the teachers in the winning group have gained their weight back and then some (especially the teacher that gave me lots of unwanted fat clothes). Although I empathize, I can't help but think of one thing: GIVING BACK THE FAT CLOTHES. Even though I'm no where near my goal weight, I have lost 45 pounds and am down 2 sizes. Wouldn't it be sweet revenge to pack up my fat clothes and put them in her car?

Would you do it?

It's interesting and funny to think about, but I probably won't do it. I would never want anyone to feel the way I did when I was given those unwanted fat clothes two years ago. Even if they do deserve it.

Sorry for the long rant. I don't like to leave out details.

I'd be so tempted. Instead, though, I'd print out this post and give it to her.

I'm sorry that happened to you. I can't believe they forced you to be part of the contest or that you let them. That's a form of harassment IMO.

Hugs. You're the ultimate winner here.

I guess I didn't put up much resistance because I wasn't tenured and didn't want to "rock the boat.". In small, rural schools it is important to have good working relationships because collaboration is so important. Favoritism among administration was a problem. It doesn't matter, I work in a different district now. I still live close to my old school and see past coworkers in town frequently. I'll probably move soon.

Part of me says "do it !", the other part if me says , "No, dont do it. Nobody wins by being unkind , even if that other teacher deserves it. " Instead, "pay it forward" kindness wise, see if you can do something for a deserving teacher. It will be a Win Win for everbody !

I'm sure that when she sees you, she has noticed all your weight loss and wishes she had those "fat clothes" she gave you. LOL, Karma!

I am so sorry that happened to you and sorry for your loss! What is wrong with people?

I am so glad that you recovered from your depression and have taken steps to get yourself healthy. You are not going to be sorry.

I agree with one of the earlier posters, do something nice for someone else. I believe that Karma is a "B". The unkind things that people do will come back to them one way or another.

Stay strong and keep us posted on your progress! Good luck!

Sometimes I truly believe clueless people are So self centered they need to see how their behavior is basically Bullying!

.....and then I think up scenario's like this:

I'd make a Craigslist "Free" Giveaway post and then make a print of it and put it on their school Bulletin Board in their Faculty Room!..... asking for help to find and give these to some "DESERVING" "NEEDY" or UNDERPRIVILEGED soul at this Holiday Season....Let's REMEMBER this is the season of Giving!

Ooooooh if she gave up an ugly Christmas Sweater amongst the Treasures, I could then caption it :GREAT WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT!!!! :P

I'd definitely be sure to include lots of :) and LOL's!......It seems to make all sorts of rudeness completely palatable. :P :) :) :) :D

Hmm...I would go to a consignment store and sell all the clothes that are too big on you or donate them.

Then go out and buy yourself something new and form fitting to your size and fabulous!

When you see her again wearing your new fabulous outfit and smile you can tell her "Thank you" if she hadn't given you all those clothes back then you would not have been able to purchase this new and awesome Size what ever smaller now outfit.

You can add all that or simply just pass by with a 100 watt secret smile and say Thank you! It will kill her, it's not unkind, and it will make you feel good too :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
