I'm a little over 4 months out. Things are mostly ok, nutrition is fine, numbers are good, but I burp all the time. Worse when I eat too fast, but happens almost anytime I eat anything. I don't drink any soda or use straws or anything obvious like that. It's not like huge burps, just more of a low-level thing. Most of the time I can keep it silent (although around my family I tend to let it rip).

Has anyone had this? Does it ever go away? Does it mean something is wrong with my sleeve?

Thanks!

Small burps are my "indicator" that I am getting close to my limit. I need to stop eating pretty soon.

I am 2 months post op and do a lot of burping as well. I have been told it is totally normal. I do find if I slow my eating down it is less but I have no pain so I can't complain if that is my only issue.

I think it would be a good idea to call your surgeon.

Eighteen months (and one day!) out here.

I burp all the time. In fact, I eat 3-4 bites and I hope/pray for a burp to surface so I can eat 3-4 more bites. I do this little neck stretch thing that my kids make fun of to force one out, I "burp" myself and if I am desperate, I run up the steps and back down real quick.

I don't see it going away any time soon. You will get used to it. :D

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
