swollen 8 weeks post plastci surgery.....

Recommended Posts

8 weeks ago I have a posterior lift and Lipo of flanks.... also had a complete front scar revision (from my Tummy Tuck a year ago). At 8 weks, I am still feeling swollen, but more important, my waist seems bigger than pre surgery (none of my jeans fit like I went up a full waist size.

Anyone thoughts? I se my doc in 10 days, so I will know more, but just seems like I should be smaller than before, not actually have a larger waist.

You body has been through one heck of a traumatic experience!

Bloating is a biological response to trauma. It protects the organs.

Drink a lot of Water to help flush it out.

sometimes it takes 12 weeks or more for bloat to go down.

Be patient & wear comfies as much as possible.

I haven't had PS yet but I've had plenty of post-surgical bloating. ;)

Did they not give you a binder to wear? This keeps the swelling down. If not I would ask about it. You are supposed to where it every day except for showering.

when I had a panni/TT it took months before the swelling went down and I could get into my regular size. The Dr. said it could be 6 months till you see final result after plastics

Swelling will continue for many months. Sometimes up to 12-18 months for some people. Your compression garment is your best friend at this point and you may have to buy several smaller ones as your swelling continue to go down. Many have benefited from Lymphatic Drainage Massage, which helps speed up healing and reduce edema. There are several YouTube demonstrations which shows how you can do it yourself.

I had a LBL 3 months ago, and I'm still pretty swollen, too. Even the small of my back is swollen, and feels like I'm laying on a lump when I lay down or sit back in a chair. Not everyone swells so much, but it can last a year. My swelling goes up and down, and I can easily retain 5 pounds of Water in a day when it goes up. She removed about 6 pounds of skin, and I have never lost a pound since surgery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
