Janet - I can see why those are your favorite pics. They are absolutely gorgeous. You've got some beautiful grandkids. That middle one is.......well, let's hope your son has some strong locks for her door. And you are looking fantastic!!!!! You aught to use that pic for your Christmas card.

Candace - DH wants the lowdown on your health system. I can't believe what they are trying to do here. It is outrageous!!! I still haven't heard from my cousin yet so I am planning on leaving my house probably about 9am thursday. Went to the library today and checked out three audio books. See if that makes the drive better. So, that should get me to your place ........when? Late afternoon, early evening?? Can't wait.

I'm bring my digital camera with me. Hope someone there can show me how to download and post online pictures.

Okay, I'll check back later.....or tomorrow. Have a good night.

Good evening Gang

Well, Phyl should be in NY by now - I think her plane got her there around 8:30 pm - she left at 8:30 this morning - she has had a long day...

Candice - I love the pple movers - they are what will get you from one to the other terminals licky split and I can walk alot faster now a days

Kari - Bring the cords that hook your camera up to the computer and we will show you how to do it... I need to make sure my batteries are charged..

Kaitlin in the middle one - she's 14.5 yrs old - she's not really into boys just yet - she says she's never going to have sex - we have a bet - $100 - She told me this when she was in 7th grade - she said she was getting married but no sex and adopting a baby - I said baby girl - sex is how husbands & wives show affection - if you aren't going to have sex - I doubt you will be getting married..

Even now when she talks about having kids - it's always remember Lala - I am adopting.. They keep a pretty good eye on her - she says she's not going to make the same mistakes as her mom & me by having kids young - she wants to go to college.. So fingers crossed that her brain controls those hormones that will be hitting her system before long and she starts liking boys - I have told her she can't date til she's 16... Both her parents defer to me about parenting sometime- she went out with a group to the show that included a boy - my DS called and asked if I thought it was ok - I said yes as long as it's a group of kids -

Brooke the baby - is a total tomboy !!! I am always talking to both girls about eating healthy and exercise. Their parents (I still gotta scan that pic) are both obese and have terrible eating habits - As far as my son is concern - I rather have him fat than on drugs - so if I have to pick a habit - I rather it be food than drugs..

Remember last yr when I went to the LBT thingie in Vegas - they talked alot about how obese pple are discriminated against - you should have heard some of the stories the girls were telling - outright to your face discrimnation from their bosses..

Well, I was busy at work - I hope tomorrow goes smoothly - my boss has been out sick for the last 2 days -

I'm back from the gym - did my 3 miles and am soaking wet but feel good that I went - go again tomorrow night for arms.. May even do a couple miles after the weights, cuz I know that we will be indulging in some adult beverages

Well just cking in - quite today - cbl

Back from Helena, spent the day choosing CRT test questions for this years achievement tests for science. Unfortunately I didn't drink enough Water and it was hot as hell. Now I have a Migraine, st least i don't have to worry about what to eat, don't feel like anything.

Janet, you look 15 years younger in your new avatar, so is there anything you're not telling us? Yes Janet, I need you to take me shopping. I hate grocery shopping, so it is in and out and don't browse. I guess I need to browse.

I came home to such a treat, my girls painted and hung pictures. I've lived in my house for 4 years now and still haven't hung pictures.

There were people at the meeting in Helena that hadn't seen me since before band. Their comments sure inspired me to keep working. They raved about what a glow I had. I also think I may have to alter some clothes, my shirts are starting to get baggy. Another inspiration to keep working.

I can't get into the new fill doc for 2 weeks because...get this...they ran out of fill needles and just ordered them today. The needles won't be in for 7 to 10 days. I am not going to worry about this. I will remind myself that the doc is 2 hours closer, cost $65 less, and he takes the time to answer my emails.

Phyl, congrats..

You all have fun together. If I had the $$ and a passport I'd be bailing on my quilting week and be joining you.

Steph, can't wait to hear from you.

Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement.

Karla - no work done yet lol - maybe in November - a gf at work is going to a local doc (he does faces only) and I have heard he's the beverly hills doc of the desert - so I am going to see how she comes out and maybe over thanksgiving I may do my face - then the arms next year..

O.k. so you want to know about the Canadian Health Care system eh???

Here's what I know.... Each Province (State) administers their own health care system. But the coverage is Universal, meaning that whatever province you live in you get the same coverage.... FREE!

Now, if you really want to get some good info watch the MOVIE documentary by Michael Moore called "SICKO" it was done a few years back but describes the Healthcare situation very well (IMHO)

Now for example I just went to my Family Doctor for my Yearly Physical, She does all blood work, Cholesteral, diabetes screening, liver enzymes, red blood cells, white, platelets, clotting factors... gives you a RECTAL exam, Pap test, breast check and a MAMOGRAM, Bone Density screening, Bowel cancer screening.... Blood Pressure, plus because of my Bipolar illness, she also refers me to a SHRINK for those medications... ALL THIS IS FREE... I don't pay a deductable or anything for ea visit. no chg for blood tests, or any of the other tests I mentioned.

If I need KNEE replacements, HIP etc... its about 1 6 wk wait for the surgery date ONCE you have seen the specialist (also N/Chg.)

We DO have to pay $45 for each Ambulance ride, government picks up the rest.

Hospital ward room coverage is free, up to 4 people in a room. If all they have avail is a semiprivate room or private they put you in there No charge.

You have to pay for a PHONE in your room and TV yourself... all meals in the hospital are free. All medications served to yo in the hospital are free.

EXCEPTIONS, elective surgery ( not life endangering) like lap band is NOT covered and I had to self-pay $16k, but I submitted that bill with my income tax and I got 2/3rds of that money back on my Federal TaX return (done ea April)

Plastic surgery, mole removal, some new experimental Cancer meds you MAY have to pay for up front and then get reimbursed later.

Dental, is not paid for - usually people have extended health care coverage from their emplyers who will then pay for80% of dental, or 80% of Prescriptions.

Once you are 65yrs old everything changes... ALL DRUGS are free for the elderly with the exception of 6.00 co-pay, and if you are poor you don't have to pay that. SO if you are a 65+ and have some pension income you can afford to pay your $6 per Rx...

Now Cancer, my Mom had a growth on her nose - I talked about this several months ago... my Mom had to wait about a month to get it taken off.... ALL FREE, and the Dr. did do P/Surgery to make it look nice... he did a fab job and it was ALL free - cause the Cancer was not considered ELECTIVE... get it???

O.k. now 10 yrs ago I had Breast Reduction Surg., Plastic surg. did the work... now it WAS Covered by my OHIP (Ont. Health Ins. Plan) because I had MEDICAL ramifications of the LARGE breasts... docuemnted back pain, shoulder pain... therefore Medically necessary and it was PAID for, and FREE to me... I had to pay the anesthesiologist $500 for his fee though (?) 3 days in hospital, pain meds, dressings... FREE.

 I know I'm kinda not giving you the READERS DIGEST version, but I think most Americans need to know what's out there and what OBAMA is probably thinking of doing. Perhaps his plan is to model the US heathcare along the lines of our Canadian coverage... I am not sure... but I AM a CNN junkie so I follow most US politics... ( and by the way I LOVE OBAMA!!!! and think he is doing a FAB job so far)

this post is long hope I don't loose it:eek:

Driving the speed limit, 7 hours and 45 mins.

This is from MAPQUEST.ca and it takes all Interstate Hwys in the US and then the 400 series highways in Canada...

But if you come cross country from Sarnia, I'd come up Hwy#402 from Sarnia to AILSA CRAIG, up highway #4, #23, #89 thru Shelbourne to AIRPORT ROAD then up to Stayner and then Wasaga Beach county Rd 7

If you want these directions email me your HOME address and I'll plug the numbers in and send you a mapquest route...

Candice - tomorrow night 5 my time Obama is going on tv to talk about his health care plan - I will have to tivo it cuz I will be at the gym -

My employer gives me 500 towards my health care - I could have purchased a plan so that I didn't have to pay a dime - but I wanted a lower deductible so I pay like $20 a pay period extra.

But they (employer) doesn't pay for dependants at all - so pple w/kids it cost them $$ to have their kids insured and it's not cheap ... I know that we just changed in April to Aetna and that pple who had kids had to put out alot more $$$ to get them covered..

I really haven't watched the news much lately cuz it's just to depressing ..

We are told that your system stinks - that Canadians complain about it - and if you need something right a way you can't get it done..

Our elderly eat cat food so they can pay for their meds - we don't take care of our elderly and the pple who are old now didn't have 401k etc - they just relied on Social Security cuz we thought that would be enough - but it isn't and that's broke too..

It's so overwhelming - I just do my scarlett immitation and say - Oh I will worry about that tomorrow...

too much for my pea brain..

My 2 bits on insurance. My district pays for 'part' of my personal coverage, about $285 of the $400, which does not include dental, vision, or prescription coverage, AND it is only for 'basic' coverage, $2000 deductable per person per family, and only pays 50% after that. I have to pay an addition $650 per month to purchase 'basic' coverage for my children. I'd vote for universal coverage.

I have dental - 485 towards health 80/20 plan with 500 ded & 15 towards dental (1500 limit annually )

I pay 90 bucks out of my pocket for the lower deductible and the 80/20 plan.

I have no vision.

I will have to watch tomorrow and see what he has to say..

What I do know something has to be done - health insurance cost too much

the hospital billed my insurance $64000 for 2 nights - my insurance paid $3500 - I paid $750 - the wrote off the rest - WTF is up with that - why don't they just bill what they are going to get paid - why do they inflate the cost..

Still can't face food, maybe a little fasting will help me put food into the right perspective. Janet, is it really possible to look at food as something we need to survive instead of it being obsession? I'm tired of constantly thinking about food. Maybe I'm just tired.

The reason for inflated prices is that is what they charge for non-insured....to make up for what they have to write off. Anyway, that's how I see it. When I spent those two months in the hospital, my bill was pretty close to half a mil. Insurance settled the bill for, (Ithink) somewhere around thirty or forty thousand. Before DH retired we had excellent insurance through the Teamsters Union. $10 copay for doctor, $5.00 for scrips. Dental and optical. plus this included all immediate family members. Now, that he is retired, we have to pay $300./month......pay the first $100.00.....and then a small percentage of the bill. Scrips are the same and we have no dental or optical.

Candace - okay, here's the toughy. How much or should I say, what percentage of your wages does Canada take out for taxes? Or how does Canada pay for their health care? I don't think a whole lot of how they want to cover the costs here. Seems they want those who have something to give most of what they have so those who don't have anything has just as much as those who do. That's wrong. Most of who Obama wants to tax higher are those who supply most of the business's and jobs. If they are taxed more, they won't be able to hire as many employees, they will have to charge more for their products, business will go out people won't be able to spend much etc etc etc. Will we be better off? I don't think so. OKAY NOW......NO MORE POLITICS HERE. SORRY I STARTED THIS TOPIC CAUSE POLITICS ARE A TABOO SUBJECT.

TTYL or should I say tomorrow.

Oh yeah, about the directions. Just give me the easiest shortest route there is. And the fastest. I used to have a good sense of direction, but old age is setting in and it just aint what it used to be.

Hi ladies. Just checking in quickly. I wrote a long post earlier and then clicked the back button and lost it.

Politics suck and I'd rather talk about death, but understand that it's on everyone's mind these days. As long as there is no person bashing, the topics can get interesting. I just hate it when it becomes an attack on a person. I think we are all big enough not to do that.

I ate today. I had taco salad for lunch, halibut for dinner, some chx stuff from schwans for snack. A couple pieces of cheese. All that an no ick! That's a good thing.

My sun rash is back. Don't remember if I told you all that. I did use sunscreen but obviously I didn't reapply it as regularly as I should have. In return I take benedryl at night and I'm zoning out as I'm writing this.

Oh...last thing that was in my post. I talked to family services today. Lady was very nice. There are two ways it can go. One way it stays active for 3 years. The other it stays active until Jaimison is 23 years old. That is even IF it is dropped at the law enforcement level. It will show up in any background checks for at least 3 years. That is just freaking wrong, but I understand. Furstrating!

Okay...I need to go to bed. There is a ton more I was going to say, but for now, I'll just say goodnight.

Love you ladies!

Well, first off I just gotta clear something up regarding CANADIANS.... WE complain about everything!!! It's a National Passtime... we gripe when its too cold, when its too wet, when its too hot (ya can you beleive it after waiting all winter for warmth???)

We complain about our politicians and then when there is a VOTE, there is a 54% turnout at the polls... now that is just dumb!

So yes, we complain about our healthcare system. Some of that is pure ignorance because if you ever travel to other countries you soon learn that CANADIANS have it pretty damn good

BUT, we have NO deductables to pay for our Doctor, hospital visits... or co=pays.. So we save a HUGE amount compaired to what Janet and Cramer discribe.

SO, hold onto your hats.... I think you'll like your new system... and remember... it'll have a few kinks to Iron out in the first few yeats...

All that being said, ALL healthcare is paid for BY THE PEOPLE, whether its you and your emplyer or the Provincial gove.... they all get their $$$$ from one source... the TAXPAYER

We in Canada pay approx. 30% of our Gross income in taxes... now I may be wrong correct me but your TAX rate % in the US is lower for state, federal taxes.???

Another good thing about UNIVERSAL healthcare for you.... ALL US residents will have to apply and have a card issued.... seems to me that would be a great opportunity to get all the ILLEGALS on the roster and then tax everyone fairly and accordingly...

Employers will have to REPORT who is really working. And Workers (legal and Illegal) will have to get registered for the NEW healthcare card too.

It will make things much more transparent and I think that may be a good thing over all... JMHO:lol:

Finally am up, can't say I'm moving much. ran DD#5 to go to Creation in Spokane, it is a christian version of Woodstock. She goes with her churches youth group and won't be home until Sunday.

My new fill doc wants me to bring a food journal, so that makes me feel better. At least he is interested in how I'm doing. So, is there a way to print off from My Plate?

Never did eat dinner last night or even have Snacks. I just drank. I think I got dehydrated at my meetings, they only had soda. Even though I tried to find Water, the hotel machines didn't even have it. So after drinking about 40 oz of water I started to feel better, but the Migraine was still there. Not hungry yet this morning. I am going to try a poached egg and low cal waffle with SF Syrup.< /p>

Check out the new ticker. I lost another 3 pounds, so I'm down to 196. A total of 11 pounds for the July challenge.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
