Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

My evening hasn't been as good as my day. I'm feeling a fit nausious. It's either that or too hungry that I'm low blood sugar.

I have a bad headache, which tylonol won't fix, so I'm not even going to try. This is a migrane style headache.

The back of my neck is also stiff and achy.

I'm going to go to bed soon and try to sleep this off.

Kathy, did your dr. prescibe you any pain medication like Vicodin? If not maybe you want to call his office and ask for it. It sounds like you need something heavy duty. Good luck, hope you feel better real soon.

Hi everyone,

Just checking in to let you all know I'm home again now. I feel very sore. I didn't have a very comfortable night but I'm glad I spent it in the hospital. It was the best place for me. I didn't think I'd be up to coming home today, but I got an IV shot of good pain meds (whatever it was, thank goodness!) and things improved a lot from then. I'm happy to be home. My hubby helped me shower. Scrubbed off all the sticky bandage stuff. Dried me off and even dried between my toes for me. What an angel he is!

They had trouble finding a good vein for the IV and ended up sticking me 4 times in total. :cry When I woke after the surgery I felt like someone had parked a truck on my stomach.:omg: I tried doing a few laps in the hospital ward before coming home to try to relieve some of the pain. It was slow and not very enjoyable. When I was overtaken by someone twice my age, I decided I was better off in bed, lol. I'm heading back there again now. I don't have the energy to read all the posts but I hope my band sisters are doing well. Bye for now. :bored

Welcome back- glad to hear you are well despite some pain. Hope you feel better soon!!

For those of you who are yet to be banded...my doctor actually wrote up all of my prescriptions for liquid vicodin, nausea Patches, and heprin shots ahead of time, and gave them to me at my pre-op appt. It worked out really well, because I was able to fill them and have them at home before I even went for surgery. Just a suggestion for your doctor...

Oh yes, I forgot to say that my bf called me before I went into surgery to tell me she was thinking of me and lighting a candle for me. So, I was being a big dramatic baby after all. I didn't realize how nervous I was until it was over.

I tried to catch up as much as possible, I'm sure I missed a few. I am still (36 hours banded) feeling nauseated. bad dry heaves at night. I am still in the 'why did I do this to myself stage" I started a migrain today on top of it. Opened my capsules and dumped them in sugar free Jello - yuck.

DH, who wouldn't even talk about it the night before became wonderful yesterday and tonight.

I have to go to bed. Thanks for the support, prayers for those going tomorrow. CC

Ruby glad you made it home. I am sorry your day didn't go well. It seems things get better with time.

Kathy, I hear you on the sore muscles. My neck is sore too. I am about to take a small dose of pain med and hit the bed. I am just very tired.

Cazulay, wow! you came through like a trooper. Isn't great to be on the losing side. I can't imagine having the surgery and going home the same day.

Jeanie, thanks for all of your support. You have been a rock for me.

Dini, Chim, Lynette, Marcy, Indiogirl, and all those others that are too many to name tonight, thanks for being there for me. I am glad I have joined you all on the losing side.

Dmtjetand Chim~ The pressure was happening on and off even when I hadn’t eaten in a while so I think it was just gas pressure, that is what the admin at the doctors office said. It is getting a lot better now and not happening as often.

Chim~ So glad you are home and doing so well. I am so proud of you that you have been so active, just be careful not to over do it, don’t want you hurting too much tomorrow!

Sunshine6855~ I totally get full off of liquids. It is so weird!!!! My DH just looks at me like I am nuts when I tell him I am full after only drinking some broth or something.

Frustrated~ So sorry they had to stick you so many times to get your IV. Poor thing! Glad your husband is being so good to you. I wouldn’t let mine come near my stomach so I still have some of the sticky gunk on my stomach as the surgeons office said to leave it alone for now. Yuck!!!

Dmtjet~ yum that carnation Breakfast with the banana and Peanut Butter with the Protein Powder sounds yummy. As soon as I am allowed to have bananas I am going to try that!!!

Kathybad~ Sorry about your headache, I had a couple of really intense ones after surgery. As for your neck, try a heating pad. It was my best friend after surgery.

Cazulay~ I am so glad to hear that your husband came through for you and is being so attentive and loving. Glad to hear your best friend called as well. Sometimes when we are nervous or imaginations get the best of us and we think things we shouldn’t. I know before surgery I was that way!

My doctor did the same as Ms Yackie. At my pre-op appointment he wrote up my prescription for my liquid pain meds and for suppositories (yuck) for nausea and vomiting.

New CC~ Sorry to hear you still aren’t feeling so well. Hopefully after a good nights rest you will feel better. Have you called your doctor about the nausea? Glad to hear your husband is being more supportive!

Whew! Sorry that was so long. That is what happens when I am not on here for even a couple of hours. Well glad everyone is doing well. DH is on his way home from work so I am off to spend some time with him before bed.

Good luck to tomorrows bandsters! :)

Not sure anyone else is up at this time of night, but I just wanted to make my daily posting anyway.......

Day 4 of pre-op, didn't do as well as I had been, cheated a little, had a campbell's Soup instead of the medifast soup, ate 2 dill pickles and 2 slices of cheese.......along with the medifast shakes and a ton of Water and my lean cuisine....now I've confessed, I feel much better!!! lol

Jeanie - actually the Cpap machine went better, as I made better adjustments on the head gear, so it fit better. I was able to keep it on for almost 4 hours last night!!! Hopefully every night will improve and it won't be a big irritation to me. Thank you for asking and being so encouraging!!!:)

Sunny - Congrats. on a successful surgery!! Glad you came out feeling pretty darn good.......

Lynette - glad the computer is up and running full steam ahead now.....:ranger:

Chim - take care now, don't over do it!!! But I do love hearing the excitement in your voice at just how great you do feel only being a few days out, it gives me hope for my upcoming surgery.:tired

janiee - that is one strict post-op diet!!! I wish I knew what to say to help you make it through, but I think as you watch the pounds fall way, it will give you the encouragement to see it through to the end!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!:hungry:

Got my surgery time - first up on Tuesday morning, 8:00am, bright and early......I'm looking forward to it and not too nervous, I think that is due to all of you on this site, to be able to share your experiences with you, to learn what to do and what not to do has given me a lot of confidence. Thank you all so much!!!

Good night......or good morning!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
