Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

A few hours to go now...and I am starting to get dubious. Does this thing really work? Am I really going to be able to lose 100lbs? And not put it back on???? I am a professional yo-yo dieter, the weight always come back with a vengeance. It will take time and work to get me to think like a thin person. Somehow it does not seem possible. Maybe I should seek professional physicological (sp) help.

And, I am so hungry right now I am having lots of sabotaging thoughts such as 'as soon as I drop the weight I will unfill my band and just control my portions by myself' Hello!! That's not going to work or I would have lost the weight already- or never gained it in the first place. I don't want to think these things, I want to be positive and determined and confident!!! I want time to fast-forward and be July 08 and it all be over and me being all slim and healthy. :faint:

CeCe,

I think a lot or even a majority of people having lapband are yo-yo dieters. I know I am. THat is why I chose this to help me stop. Your current hungry self is telling you this won't work and you will do it only until you lose weight then get a deflate. But remember, what this surgery will give you that no diet can, is feeling full. I was on Clear Liquids the first 48 hours, but today I got to try out some grits. Even with the band deflated, I was only able to eat about 4 bites then I had to wait 15 minutes to be able to take a few more. It is the first time I have ever felt full after a few bites of something. But I didn't even want to take any more bites. I know most of my restriction now is due to being swollen from surgery, but it gave me an idea of what to expect.

You will do great. So many people have with the LapBand. My BF had her LapBand put in back in December and she has lost 80 pounds! She has not yo-yoed at all. She use to be the world's worst! She also used to struggle to work out consistently, now she loves it and feels empty when she doesn't. She was so desperate that she even tried out to be on The Biggest Loser. I helped her make the video! I have seen her life completely change. Yours will too!

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow!

Thanks Jeanie! It's one of my favorite things about this board...having others going through the same things to tell you that you aren't nuts! (or at least feel a little batty with you!). I feel like a hungry alhambra bottle! The little air bubble gurgles in my tummy have me feeling like a one woman symphony - especially after I drink!

I know what you are saying!!! Isn't it a different sensation? Not like it used to be!!! Just different! LOL

I surviver! I was done by 9 am. But I am having, still, extreem nauseua from the anesthesia. I dry heaved a ton at the surgery center. That hurts. I had forgotten that I do have trouble after being put under, but with the band it really hurts!

Up 5.5 lbs due to liquids that i can't yet get to come out in abundance.

I think by Sat. I will be glad I did this. Best wishes to all those going tomorrow. Everyone I dealt with today was wonderful. That made it better. CC

Cazulay, you will be fine! I agree with OnMyWay, that the majority and I would even venture to go as far as to say nearly all of us have been yo-yo dieters! It is in our heads that we will fail, but this time, we won't! We can do this!!!! It's like every day is a mini pep rally, just for each of us!!!! Kind of neat!!!

dmtjet, Thanks for the help. I did find the disc clean up and ran it, then the defragementing. Took like 7 hours to run. Do you think I need to shut down the computer now, and bring it back up so all the changes go into effect? It's not been running as slow, but still could be better. I deleted Cookies, everything I could think of.

Yeah, I usually do shut it down once I clean everything up, seems to reset everything!!! I am glad it is running better for you!

Lynette, If you haven't run those in a long time, you would have had a lot of files to fix! So shutting it down will help with everything being in place. Seems to refresh everything!

Cate54 I was told that I wasn't to have any Ibuprofen or NSAIDS after lapband. My doc told me they are hard on the stomach and the band. Every doctor is different though. Good luck

Good luck to everyone on deck for tomorrow. By this time tomorrow night you will be in bandland. We have all started scooting over to make room on the losers bench for you. You will all be in our thoughts and prayers.

Lynnette-Great to see you are up and running again. I love reading your posts.

Started to feel hungry tonight. DH made Brat patties for supper (one of my favorites!!) and I sat at the table and visited with the family while they ate. I done fine though. I got a boost breeze out and drank that while they ate. It was kinda nice to set with the family again. Feels like it has been forever since we have all been at the table. That has always been a big thing in our house and when I started the 2 week liquids before surgery I only sat with them a couple of times. Kinda funny because it wasn't the food that I was missing with them it was just being with them at meal time. :cry

Greetings and good Luck to all having surgery tomorrow!

I went to my surgeons today and she was surprised I had any Fluid in my drain, so I have to go back to the hospital tomorrow for another upper GI, to make sure the repair she did is good and rectified the problem.

She also did say that, because of the location and scar tissue I would not now, nor never be a candidate for the band. (not happy) However, she did say, I could come back in 6 weeks after I'm all healed and see if I want to go with the gastric bypass.

I'm not sure what I want to do yet. It's a big decision. Oh, well, I'm sure you will be supportive no matter what I decide to do.

Hugs and kisses to all,

Pris

Hi everyone! Haven't read your posts yet, but I thought I'd share info about my post-op appt today. He said everything looked good and was happy with my diet to date. I have the new APC band which can be filled to 10 cc's. It does come with a little fill of between 2.5 and 3 cc's, which he said is it's static point or neutral point. I told him that I wasn't feeling any restriction and he said, that I wouldn't at this point. Told him i wasn't having any problem drinking fluids or shakes, like some people were saying.

I asked about progressing my diet and he said yes, but then something like he prefers to keep patients on a liquid diet for the first six weeks. I said six weeks, the diet specs you gave me said that you would move to pureed food after two weeks. He said that was what he meant which was a great relief.

I've been consuming less than 600 calories a day and he said at this point that I should be somewhere between 600 and 1,200 calories a day. And once I get my adjustment in five more weeks, then I'd probably move to 1,400 calories. Sounded good to me!

IMPORTANT: He said the reason you want to stay liquid/pureed before your first fill is that the band isn't working, so you won't know if you eat almost too much, but you will know if you eat too much. Consequently, if you go that far, you may expand your upper pouch too much and force the band to slip and slide down, so it will never be very effective. Once you've gotten the fill, the band will work and you'll know before you overeat.

Told him that I don't like anything on his list for pureed foods (beans, yogurt, cottage cheese, baby food, etc.) except for the lean deli meats. He said it was fine to do the meats, tuna, add a banana to my shake (first time he's said anything about carbs before five months time). I asked about the mashed potatoes and he said I could have a bite or two if I wanted. I was thrilled, so went to store after work and got ham, turkey, some romaine lettuce (not sure if I can puree it with the meats or not, but gonna try), potatoes and bananas.

Came home and wanted to eat since I've only had 295 caloreis so far today, but decided to exercise first. Did 25 mins on bike, bathed, and now I'm boiling a potato. Figure I can have a little tonight and maybe take some work to go with my Soup tomorrow.

I'll read through everything I missed and get back to you if I have any other thoughts!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
