sunshine6855 0 Posted July 22, 2007 IndioGirl, I am like you. I give good care and I expect good care. Usually, if they know you are a nurse you get a little better care. So my thoughts are, if they are treating me shi**y and I am a nurse, how are they treating the other patients. Now days you should not let anyone you care about stay alone in the hospital if they are not fully alert and aware of what being done to them. Patients are sicker and staff are fewer, more and more technology to keep up with and hospital trying to save a dollar by not staffing appropriately. Lots of reasons...no one solution. But I still love it. Talked with the Dell support and they were very helpful. Lucky I called today. There is only 8 more days left on my warrenty. You know they send you the parts and you install yourself. The tech talked me through opening the laptop and instructed me on how to change the parts. Told me to email him when the parts arrived and he would call back and talk me through it. Good thing I have worked on my own desktops for years.

Lynette617 0 Posted July 22, 2007 Sunny, I wonder where Dini is tonight, she usually pops her head in and out from work. Haven't heard from her all day. It is going on 3 am there, so she's probably catching some Z's.
wrangler054 0 Posted July 22, 2007 I'm very sorry to hear about the bad experience at the hospital. I think of myself as lucky. I've been in the hospital 6 times, (4 surgeries, 1 bronchitas and 1 UTR) and each time I was treated very well. (Well, the doc durrng my UTR told me that if I wouldn't eat bad I wouldn't have to be on Lipator but he said it in a very condesending manner and my hubby almost decked him) However, my mom, grandfather and grandmother all had horrible hospital experiences. Grandmother - infection that killed her Grandfather - doctor and nurses ignored my grandfather and gave him wrong treatment. Made him worse, my mom complained and said either they take the lean off my grandfather's house or she'd sue and within 2 days the lean was taken off. Grandfather - doctor who ignored my mothers wishes and 3 days later my grandfather died. My mom never received a bill from the hospital for my grandfather's treatment. Mom - suppose to be given local anestic for procedure but they didn't give it to her. She jumped when the scalpel started to cut her and her doctor yelled at her to be still. He didn't listen when she said she could feel what he was doing. I feel very grateful this experience went very well. I made sure to engage in conversation with my nurses, asking them why they went into nursing about their schooling, and thanked them each and every time they helped me with something. I kept telling them I'm sorry for calling them every 90 minutes to help me up to go to the bathroom and each time they said that's what they are there for, to help. I've sent a thank you card to the staff on the 3rd floor of Centennial Medical Center for Woman b/c of the great care they gave me.
Lynette617 0 Posted July 22, 2007 Wrangler, that's awful experiences your family has had. I'm so sorry for you that those things have happened. I actually gave my surgeon a card at the hospital, but I really was only in my room for 2 1/2 hours before they let me go, so I didn't really see any nurses for a long period of time. Everyone I did see for a matter of minutes were very nice.

Lynette617 0 Posted July 22, 2007 I think I'm headed to bed to read some. I started a good book. I love to read Mary Higgens Clark. I got hooked a few years ago when my MIL gave me some of her books to read. Usually I try to find them at yard sales, but I saw her new one at Walmart and decided to get it. So far, so good. Biggest Loser 0 Posted July 22, 2007 Lindaa & Dmtjet: Thank you for your greetings! Sunshine6855: My surgery is on the 24th but I am leaving tomorrow. We are about 9 hours away and are driving up and back. I have to see the Dr. on Monday and then have surgery on Tuesday and returning home Wednesday. I am excited but now a little nervous too! Frustrated: Were you saying there is a group for PCOS? If so, could you PM me the link. I would love to join that. I have never really gotten to talk to anyone else that has it. I have been suffering with the symptoms since I was in teen years and the doctors had no idea what was wrong. I haven't really done a complete low-carb diet in awhile (until my pre-op diet) but have tried to cut out as much sugar as possible and that seemed to regulate my periods some. Thanks for your response and lets keep in touch with the progess this has for our PCOS! Lynette617: I am a big fan of the show. Watched all of them. I started making a tape to send in once and then chickened out and didn't send it. :car: I wanted to wear a t-shirt for the audition tape that said "Anorexia Survivor" but thought maybe they wouldn't find much humor in that. If I missed anyone that said something, I am sorry! There was a gazillion pages to read:help:-Please PM me.
Tinkerbell77 0 Posted July 22, 2007 Welcome cate54! :help: So I am just finishing up my day 3 and I started drinking my Protein Drinks today. I am drinking Profect as they have 25 grams of Protein in only 2.9 ounces with no carbs and no sugars. They don't taste bad and are fruity. I had been able to get down about 40-50- ounces of Clear Liquids, but now I am so full from the protein drinks that I am only getting down like 30-35. Any suggestions? I read someone suggested beei-protein like beni-fiber which dissolves and is tastelss? Does that work? Has anyone heard of it? Do they sell it at Wal-mart? I need someehing to mix into my Water and broth to get more protein in. Any help is greatly appreciated. Other than that doing great. The worst of my pain is gas in my chest and back. Congrats to all the new bandsters and the soon to be bandsters!!! Woo hoo, we can do it!!!
janiee 0 Posted July 22, 2007 Thank you everyone for the words of encouragement and great advice. Tomorrow will be my 3rd day post op and I am hoping for a less painful day. The two things that are killing me are coughing and getting out of bed. My walking is getting further and further but after a while, I get dizzy and need to lie down. I am hoping when I reach one more week, I will have much more energy to actually get to know you all and spend more time with my banded and pre banded buddies on the site. I have so much faith in this tool. I have a goal pair of jeans hanging up in my closet, so I can't wait for the day where I can slip them on easily and rejoice!!! Thanks again and good luck to everyone!!!!:clap2: XOXO, Janiee
Tinkerbell77 0 Posted July 22, 2007 <p>Janiee~Day three post op is SOOO much easier. There will still be some soreness at the port site, but moving around will get much easier. The dizziness is normal and will get less often as well. I am still having it a bit too.
