Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry, but I just can't bear to run through 20 pages that I've missed when it takes 5 min. to load a page! (I miss faster internet already!)

Let's see...I'm a week out now. I haven't used any meds in a few days, but have some swelling...lookin' pregnant! Saturday I woke up dizzy! I called the office and was told by on call doc. to go to the ER if it didn't clear up soon. It had been >12 hrs since my last Vicodin. I had some broth and Water and seemed to "clear up" after about an hour...scary and weird though. I surrmized that I hadn't eaten much on Friday and the drugs probably just sat there in my system. Needless to say, that's my last dose of Vicodin! My surgeon called yesterday to check on my and seems pleased with my progress.

I'm back in Nome now and feeling ok. I spend all Sunday in bed, just resting, and needed it! Now (thanks to the EXCELLENT planning of my dear, sweet husband) I am alone with the kids until Saturday. I'm farring ok so far and have lots of friends available for help so I'm not worried.

I'm eating oatmeal for Breakfast and Soup for other meals (I have some Nutrisystem Soups that I like and I just puree the chunks out). It's cool here and I've noticed I'm not drinking enough so I'll have to step that up today.

I lost one more chicken, but the others seem to be doing well...I just might have a few chicken dinners at the end of the summer!

I already asked this once, but I'm afraid it's going to get lost in the midst of all these pages, and no one will answer...

Something has occurred to me, that I'm not sure is normal or not... I have heard everyone say that you have to 'sip' constantly, that you can't take regular drinks... I can drink just fine. Just the way I did before, with no problems... I figured this was just because I haven't had a fill yet... is that right?

And you guys are talking about being full after drinking too much. I haven't felt full at all... but I haven't felt hungry either.

Is this normal? Or should I be feeling more restriction with just the band alone?

Hi Ashley,

I think what your feeling is normal, everyone is very different as to what makes them feel full, For me the first 7 days I was satisfied with the liquids and then all of sudden on day 10 my appetite hit me, and now the only thing that actually fills me up is soft food, not even pureed food. I am 2 weeks post-op. I think it all depends on your anatomy and everyone is so very different. But once you are able to advance your diet I think you will feel more restriction.

Good luck to you!

Oh and one more thing, you will know if you eat something that won't go down, when I first started on soft food this weekend, I had chicken salad and I did not chew a piece up good enough and it hurt like the dickens for about 10 minutes, so trust me you will know.

Your photos are fantastic phyllser! What a beautiful part of the world.

Glad you gals enjoyed the photos. It was really a fun weekend. I did gain a couple of lbs. back, but I'm working on it an down 1 1/2 this morning. Thanks for the compliments! The scenery was as stunning as some we've seen on Alaska cruises. BTW, where is Marcy?? Haven't seen her post in a couple of days. Has she posted since her surgery?? I thought she had but have to scroll back through the pages.

Auntie Phyl,

Guess I am having trouble with my short term memory, but where is this Whistler BC? Where do you cross over into Canada? That was a gorgeous place. I think I would like to try to plan a trip there when I get "Skinny"! Did you say you just went for the weekend? Thanks for sharing the pictures. What fun!

Back from Dr.s:). Went real well. Down 14 1/2 lbs:whoo:, almost made the 15 lb mark!! I was thinking I should of taken off my jewelery or something:rolleyes:!!LOL!! He was very happy with my progress so he released me to lift weights and do my aerobic workout DVD's.:clap2: He wants me to stick to 3-5oz meals now, and 2 to 3- 3 oz Snacks, still staying in the 600 to 900 calories depending on how active I am that day.

He's great, he did pull my strips off:faint:, very gently, and the incision looks very well. He told me I could start using Vitamin e oil on them to help with the scaring.

I don't go back to work until August 6 now, after I've had my first fill, happy about that. More time with my son:clap2:.

Phyl, breathtaking photos, finally got to see them with the link. What a nice looking couple you all are.

lainy, hope tomorrow is better for you, and the first day post surgery is probably the worst.

jess SA, wow, 11 lbs already. You go girl.

AshRae, yes I've heard to sip Water too, but I can drink a 20 oz bottle in no time at all. I'm sure it will be diferent once we get a fill though. I think they just want us to prepare for that.

Danny, guess I gotta give it up after the great appointment I had.

Dini, Can't wait to see the tees. Hey, make mine a SMALL- it will give me some more motivation!!!

Marcy, what was your DH thinking??????? Hope the dizzyness is gone for good. Vicodine makes me sick every time. I can't take it at all.

Christy, we can start a new thread under the July 07 thread for recipes. I love the idea, I'm always cooking up something good, and I'd love to share. Glad you liked the chicken salad. I'll post that one on our new thread. I'll PM you the list of questions as it was quite long. Give me a little bit to type it all out. Oh, and thanks for the info on the plastics and dioxins. Interesting read for us women. I'll have to change some things in my own life.

Nurse 76,

I love the idea of a "cookbook" and I would love to have some new ideas on how to fix something different as we go along. Let me know what I can do to help. I am not too good on this computer, but I love to try new things and what a great way to test out to find new favorites to eat!

Lynette,

I'm glad your visit went so well, you are doing so great!!!!!, What kind of food are you allowed now? Are you allowed soft foods such as the chicken salad and fish? Just curious. Way to go on the weight loss.

As for the cookbook, a new thread sounds great, Lynette do you know how to start it? Let me know because I am not very good with this stuff.

Patti C, be looking for a new thread, coming soon..........

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
