Looks like the Mall is out for me this year. My daughter is leaving the 26th.

Phyl - we'll be home late on the third, so I'll head for the post office right after the 4th. I thought those tops would be perfect for you since you are so much shorter than me. Plus, I like mine longer.

TTYL

So sorry you can't make it to the M of A!

Next year... Vegas, Baby!

Thanks so much... the tops should fit just right!

so it's just me and my doggies -Ok gang - I know how this goes - you will all get on when I get off - my feelings are going to be hurt  - just playing - I went to the gym did my 3 miles and sweated like a pig - it's hot here - my car said 119 but it was most likely 115..

Ok gotta go see what I can fix with my left over steak... I am hungry. I will cbl - and fyi - I have done really well on my Water today 50 oz so far...

Here most of the day.

Went over to DD to do "white glove inspection"...

they're on their way home from Cabo.

We had a blast today. My leg is doing MUCH MUCH better today. In fact there was no pain when we were bowling and mini golfing today. It was great. I didn't run out of energy. Only problem was the wooziness from the sugar overload. Well I am going to go check some of my other threads and then hang out with DH.

Glad you're having a nice birthday!

And we're all glad your leg is better!!

I've had a good food day. No stuck episodes today.

I spent the day trying to build a webpage.

Phyl, I'm trying to think of imaginative things to help you pack. Shipping some is always an option. I'm not sure. I'll keep thinking.

I'm going to look at your web page as soon as I finish this.

That's what I'm trying to do.... be imaginative! I think five days worth of clothes should do it. Can do laundry at my sisters. We'll be gone a total of almost 3 weeks!

I almost go stuck on chicken again today... skinless, boneless chicken thighs, BBQed on the grill, cut up in little tiny bites and chewed like crazy and still got that pain in my chest. DH weighed 4 oz for me and I think I gave him 1 1/2 oz back again, maybe 2. Knew better than try to eat any more. Had steamed broccoli/caulifower/carrots/squash with it.

I forgot to post this for everyone. I found 97% fat free Hebrew National Hot Dogs at Wal-Mart a couple of days ago. They only have 45 calories per hot dog. So for those of you who are not planning to spend their 4th of July in a compression garment sipping on a vicodin margarita this could be a great alternative to bring with you to a BBQ. Also if you are looking for sausages...Johnsonville has great Turkey/Cheddar sausages that are 130 calories. If you can find the Jenny-O Turkey cheddar sausages they are only 120. I should have gone into advertising!

Lots of good suggestions! I LOVE hot dogs.

You're right, you should have! And if you're in an area with a Sam's club, those Aidell's chicken sausages are divine! I'm completely in love with the pineapple Bacon and they are really low cal for sausages....I cut it into about 20 pieces and have a wonderful time with the taste. Oh they are awesome. The sun dried Tomato are good too....and sam's brand asiago and spinach are good too...those are the three I've tried. But LOVE LOVE LOVE the pineapple bacon.

Good Morning Gang

How is everyone this fine morning

Well for me my little bear got out (hole in block wall where the overflow of Water drains) and had to chase him for 15 minutes - this was at 5:45 a.m. :cool2: He got the bad dog talk - but he has always been a runner so I guess I should know that he doesn't pay attention for long anyway to my bad dog talks - Now my little angel - she is a good dog - tell her to stop and she stops rolls over and is totally submissive. Bear when to school - she didn't  Just like kids - you have one that listens and the other doesn't.

So I got a little exercise this morning

On my 1st bottle of water...

CBL

Hi everyone! Haven't stopped by in over a month as I'm just too busy these days. Hope everyone is stilling doing well with their dieting or maintenance as the case may be. I'm still good! I eat pretty healthy and get a good amount of exercise regularly. Still eating ice cream most nights, but my body must like the extra Calcium, as it doesn't hurt in the least. I'm still maintaining my weight just fine!

I went for my approx. 8 to 9 month visit in March or April, but didn't get a fill and since I relocated to Florida, I wasn't able to make any more visits. My surgery date was 7/16 and that included free visits and fills for one year. Dr told me to find someone here, just in case I had any problems, but unless the tubing begins leaking and I gain weight, I'm not sure what kind of problems I could have, since I don't think I'll ever need a fill again.

I got too far behind here last month, so there's no way I'm going to go back and read almost two months worth of posts, so I'll just pop in and read a few current pages when I can.

Question: I seem to get into trouble and PB on food only at certain times of the month. The first week of my cycle (or pack of BC pills, since I don't seem to be having periods any more) I seem to be very tight. And I can get into trouble very quickly with all types of foods and then the rest of the month, I can go a week or two without any problems unless I really eat too much or swallow without chewing stupidly. Anyone else experiencing this?

Q2: I get sharp pains, like I would imagine a hernia would feel like in my lower left side, intestines height. I mentioned it to my dr on a few occasions, but he didn't think anything with the band could be causing it. I tend to get the pains when I've overeaten or just eaten a decent size meal and then walk around. It's the type of pain, where you put your hand over it and press in as if to support something. Anybody experiencing anything like that? Otherwise.....I'm in great shape, I swear it!)

I've been MIA yest. and today.... My Mom went in for her Angiogram this morning..

Not good results... she is NOT a candidate for AngioPlasty or STENT...

She has TWO major heart arteries that are 100% blocked, the third one is 80% blocked... being as she is 85 yrs old and already had a couple strokes and 1 heart attach they don't recomment the Bypass Open heart surgery.

Needless to say we are very dissappointed tonight.

My Mom is taking the news very well... She says " I am not having any more shit done to me, I'm old and that's that."

I want to argue with her, and give her any chance that she might have improved heart function and breathing... but alas it is ultimately HER decision... it just really sucks large.

So sorry to hear that, Candice. It's got to be her decision. My Mom just turned 86. She had 4X Bypass 5 years ago (in Buffalo), on Valentine's Day! It was a very tough recovery period including about a month in a rehab center. Fortunately, one where my youngest sister works, so she got really good care, lots of attention. My uncle (Dear old Uncle Ed) came close to getting tossed out on his ear more than once, but even he survived. Very difficult surgery at that age.

Love on her & see that she's kept comfortable & happy. Nothing more you can do.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
