Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. Seems there are a few more people around tonight. While I was slow today everyone else must have been really really busy. Missed you all today.

Karri, I wish candy would make me feel awful. I don't enjoy the sweetness like I used to but it doesn't make me feel bad. It is just too easy. I really just try not to be anywhere around it. And if I'm around it I'm okay if someone else is around. They make me more accountable.

Janet, I just don't have the plan to get the lunch packed. Most days I have enough calories to spend that I can eat most of what there is for lunch. Today I just wasn't prepared. Tomorrow we have a bbq and have a plan for lunch instead of that. I will take stuff for tomorrow. The good side is that we walk downtown to have the bbq tomorrow so I will get some lunch time exercise.

When I have a fill I have to be on liquids for 24 hours and then food as tolerated. I usually spend the next day on mushies and work my way up to solids.

Jackie, your bodybugg workout sounded awesome! To burn over 700 cals in a workout is amazing. My walk, even though it is really tough for me, only gives me 150ish calories burned. I would have to walk all day every day to get that kind of calorie burn. I'm just amazed. Super kudos to you!!!

I had 4 bottles of Water, 1 bottle of iced tea, and 1 travel mug of coffee today. I think that because I stayed super hydrated, I was able to say no to some really bad choices. I came home and walked for 50 minutes though. So all in all I had a great day.

Have a great night everyone. I hope you all have a great day tomorrow.

I asked my fill dr. about liquids after a fill, and he said no, I could eat whatever I can handle. I haven't had any problems except for that one time with the Sammi from Quiznos and I made Soup for dinner that night and all was fine after that. I don't even notice swelling or pain after a fill. Hey, maybe I really didn't get banded and all these fills are placebos.36_1_40.gif

P.S. I think I figured how to get the smileys to move around. Gotta keep the right click pressed.

Good morning Ladies

KND - Congrats on you 7/8 date..

Karri - You ran - you are on maintenance - you know you can't do it - you will be fine - as you said even OCD you are human

Jackie - Congrats on running - how great - heck though as fast as you were walking you were almost running anyway.

Kari - you just may be at your sweet spot - but you seem to eat alot more bread than most of us (well from what pple post anyway) It's not something I do often - mostly cuz I never have bread in the house - GS isn't a sandwich eater - so when I do buy a loaf - I usually end up throwing away 1/2 of it - (i don't like frozen bread) and when I do eat it - its usually toast or grilled cheese (I think I have had 2 in the last 10 months)

Steph - It's just that I bring my lunch 99% of the time so I figure that everyone else does too :cursing:. I really control my options - In fact I threw those WW Cookies out this morning - I can't eat just one - so in the trash they went. I am alot like Karri - very very displined in what I eat and what I expose myself to - I still don't trust myself at time - I know the band will stop me - but even with that - the amount of calories that I can consume before the band stops me is my concern..

I am a littl OCD too:lol:

Kari - on how to place your smiles - put your curse where you want the smile - then click the smiley and it should go where your curser was. I said should sometimes it doesn't - so then I right click on it and move it or copy paste then delete the one that is in the wrong place.

Ok I gotta get to butt in gear - got a desk full of files..

CBL :)

:cursing: That's cute. I agree with Janet, maybe you have hit a sweet spot. Are you still burping today? I envy you being able to eat bread. Well, sometimes I do. I know I'm better off without it. Still, it doesn't stop me fantasizing about sinking my teeth into a sandwich every once in a while.

My little guy is home from school today. He has an upset tummy. I e-mailed his teacher about his absence and she replied that she's had a few kids out this week with the same complaint. :smile2: Schools are breeding grounds for all kinds of nasties. :)

He kind of messed up my routine and I could easily have stayed home this morning instead of doing my usual treadmill workout. But yanno, this morning ritual has become more of a benefit for my head than for my body. That's a good thing! I feel so much better starting my day this way. :biggrin2:

Will check back in later. Have a fab day ladies.

Drink Drink Drink!

Janet, getting my two little ones ready for daycare in the morning as well as myself, fighting with the eldest to take a shower, and the morning is always hectic. The few times I have packed a lunch for myself I've left it on the counter and then I have to eat whatever is for lunch here anyways. It just never seems to work out. Oh well 9 more days.

Kari, I hope you found your sweet spot. I want to be there. That's one of the reasons I want a fill on Monday. I know I'm not there. I know I could take more....but I'm also worried that I will go too far the other side. I'm so confused and skeptical.

Ruby, sorry your little one isn't feeling good. They have a way of throwing everything out of whack. Glad you still got in your walk though.

I'm behind in my Water. On my first bottle, so it's going to be a floating afternoon.

I'll be back later ladies!

Hello Everyone,

I finally played on the Wii last night. I bowl a little. I boxed for a little, and it's a workout, I was heaving like a heffer.

I am proud to say may fitness age is..................... "80"

The PS office called yesterday and pushed my surgery from 6/3 to Friday 6/6.

I just scheduled my first mammogram. I want to get one before surgery.

Steph - 11 more days of these wonderful children for me!!

But whose counting?

I have decided no more scales for awhile. I hope I can stick to it, I'm addicted. I am barely eating, cause I CAN'T, and the scale ain't moving. I'm going down in size, but not pounds. It's very very very very.......(add 20 more please) frustrating. Stratch that, it's freakin disgusting. :w00t::mad::lol::cursing:

Does anyone have a treadmill they love? I'm thinking about buying one. Oh, and I would love to have a pink bike too. I saw it at Sports Authority in Arkansas for Thanksgiving and I am on a Quest to find it. I don't remember the brand, but it had flowers painted on the bar. Schwinn has one, but I don't know if it is the same one. I would buy the tassles for the handle bars and a bell. Do ya'll think I may be having a mid-life crisis?

I haven't even figured out how to find my wii age yet so you're doing better than me. My left butt cheek still hurts from bowling and that was 3 nights ago!!! I understand the heaving though...holy hannah it was tough!

I hate to brag, but mine's only 8!!! It would be 9 but I'm going to be in Minot on Monday!!!! Go me, go me!! On a downer note however they interviewed a gorgeous history teacher for next year. He's right out of college, football all-american team, he's got Buns of steel...omg what a butt!!!! It's been a LONG time since I checked out a guy's butt and that one was FIIIIIINE!!!! He would be teaching right across the hall from me. I did go ask if I could change my mind and sign my contract now. Super just laughed.

I'm very proud of you for venting here and not shaking the sprockets out of the scale. You show enormous restraint. Amazing for May I must say!

DH said he thinks I'm having a mid life crisis. Can you believe that? I'm not even close enough to middle to have a mid life crisis. How RUDE!!! However, I LOVE the idea of tassles and a bell. A basket would be nice too. Good luck finding it. I'll keep my eyes peeled for you and if I see one I'll let you know.

Hi,

Well, the total knee specialist is about 10 years old, but seems very knowledgeable. He did throw me a curve. He showed me my x-rays and said the hardware in the right knee is coming loose because of the weight loss and so it is more urgent than the right. He said, even with the pain, the left one is more or less elective at this point but the right one is NOT because if it continues to get looser I could do serious damage. He says he only wants to do each one ONCE… wants this to last a lifetime for me, so he wants me to wait until I lose another 40 lb or BMI of 40. But, he’s concerned about the right one and wants to x-ray it again in two months. He says if it’s gotten worse, than he might have to go ahead and do it anyway. At the rate that I am losing, it looks like this won’t be happening until about a year from now because we head south again in Oct. It’s a little frustrating because I was hoping to be able to do a lot more walking sooner than that.

So… that’s my knee story for today! I go back July 7th to see him again and x-ray again.

Other than that, an uneventful day.

Hi all,

Just trying to get caught up before things get out of control again. Bummer about the knee, Phyl. I'm glad you aren't a lot of pain, but ya sure don't want things to get any worse. Take it easy. Did he happen to mention what kinds of exercising would be "safe?" or did he offer to write up a PT consult?

Wish I could chime in more on what's going on with everyone. Got to run now (again). DH's bringing some friends in. . .

Well, when you are in the message square, you should be able to click on the smiley central button on your toolbar and the little box will pop up. Do a search on whatever you are looking for. When you find one you want, just clicking on it should drop it in to the box you have open. However, I've found that they can be stubborn little critters and sometimes it won't work!

15_6_25.gif

He is one of my favorites!

Oh Phyl, your "smilie" looks like he is PB'ing and then falling down from weakness....

I had another long drive to Toronto today for a fill. WHen I got there the Nurse said OH, I'll give you 1 cc....:confused2: OMG no not that much!! She gave me 0.5cc last time so I wouldn't agree to any more than that again... and I am TIGHT... I can get down Water, but VERY slowly.

I had a bowl 3/4 cup of Soup tonight and then some popsycles... I was having a yen for Pistachios so I counted 47 out, only ate 1/4 of them and PB'd.... dah!!! After all it is supposed to be ONLY liquids today...

But I just wanted something salty... it was good :frown: that it didn't work.

I am down another lb. pretty soon I'll be able to update my ticker at the bottom!!!!:tt2:

Does anyone have a treadmill they love? I'm thinking about buying one.

The treadmill I use at the gym is a Lifestyle brand but I'm not really sure what model it is. When I jump on it in the morning I'll try to remember to make note of it. It's good. I like that you can vary the speed and incline and there are a couple of extra options like being able to do a fitness test (although I've never used that) and other things. I usually just program in my weight and time, then adjust the speed and incline to what I want. I must say it's become my favorite piece of gym equipment. Probably because I can see the results of my work on it. When we buy our own home and set up a gym, the first thing I'll buy is a treadmill.

I did a quick search and came up with this link:

Treadmills: Treadmill Reviews, Best Treadmills

It gives reviews on the best treadmills out there. When you go to buy one, ask if there's a trial period in case you don't like something about the one you choose and have the option to send it back or replace it with a different model/brand.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
