HELLO ALL

I couldn't get on at all yesterday and considered staying up and getting on in the wee hours of the morning, but I was too tired. Went to bed instead. Sure hope they get this site fine tuned and quit messing with it.

PHYLL- I agree with Janet here. Just continue being normal. Act as if nothing has happened (at least in DD case) and eventually it should get better. Not that thqt helps any but............

GAS PRICES - Gas here in Mi varies. It's going up and down. One day it's $3.50 Next day we got it for $3.32 (5cent discount for using credit card) Then the next dy it was $3.69!!! OUTRAGEOUS

I had a whole bunch of replies to make and now I don't remember. Thought of using the multi quote thing but figured it would be too long. Oh,..........these senior moments. I've been on sabatical from this diet. Well, I'm still careful and watch what I eat......I haven't gained. I'm maintaining. I have to get back on track.

SCALES - We're still using one we got as a wedding present 35 years ago. Still works and is pretty even with dr's scale.< /span>

SNACKS - Has anyone here tried Skinny Cow Ice cream sandwiches? My daughter gave me the heads up on these. They are really good. Can't tell the difference. They are 97% fat free, 140 calories, 3g. Fiber and 0g trans fat. And they are decent size, too. YUMMY

oKAY, THIS ENOUGH FOR NOW. WILL CHECK BACK LATER FOR MORE ACTION HERE. ENJOY YOUR SATURDAY. GOOD LUCK RUNNING, KARRI. I'M ROOTING FOR YOU.

Well where I live in north carolina my gas is 3.60 a gallon and going up daily. Unfortunatly I live in a rurual area no walking to work or the store. I live about 5 miles from Walmart and 7 miles from work. We live 2 hours from a mall so we are in the middle of nowhere. Well enough of that. I am so proud of you guys running i am not to that point I have started the couch to marathon but lord help it is hard no 10 min mile for me. but i will continue to advance.

Yeah I finished....:frown3::lol::grouphug::lol::( and in record time for me!!!! Normally it takes me about 40 minutes to run 3.1 miles. Today it only took 34:30. I was so stoked when I saw the finish line and the timer. DH took pictures of me running and crossing the finish line. I will post them later tonight. We are going to back to the store and getting me another pair of the cheap shoes. They worked wonderfully today. I woke up with pretty serious pain in my right foot, but once I put the shoes on and started running it went away. I am going to take back the more expensive pair. That way I still have 2 pairs, but for less then the price of the 1! I am a bargain shopper!

Also I think I am going to look into getting a Body Bugg. I know that most of the time they are used to help you lose weight, but I really think for me it is going to be most important for maintaining. We will see though. They are pretty expensive, but I am going to try and find one on ebay that I can afford.

Well I will chat with you later, we seem to be ready to head out!

Are you all sitting down - Well ya I guess you are cuz you are on your computers.. Well hold on to the arms of your chair or to your desk !!

I went to Stein Mart had a 20% coupon. Guess What ?????

I DIDN'T BUY ANYTHING !!!!!!

Tried on stuff - even had these blue capris in my hand - but said to myself - you don't need them - you really don't need to spend the $$ - so I put them back and left - went to Target did my usual weekly shopping - didn't look at clothes - oh ya I got a pair of workout capris (those don't count)

and then came home..

Tried to take a nap - did for about 1/2 hr then my son called so here I am - on the computer drinking tea cuz i am still sleepy..

Karri - CONGRATULATIONS !!!! I can't wait to see the picture.. Since I couldn't go to the gym this morning - I am going to go tomorrow - well that's my plan anyway.

I was hungry today !!! At the beauty shop I was straving ate 2 cookie (180 calorie) then when I got home had some leftover 1 pot wonder (300 calories) and was still hungry had a 100 calorie popcorn.. On the weekend I rarely ever eat until dinner and usually aren't hungry... I may have Breakfast on Sunday morning..

Got my hair cut a tad shorter than my avatar picture not much maybe inch shorter - same style though -

I am having my fish for dinner - and that's about it - got some clothes in the wash - so have that - pretty boring..

Well 2 weeks from tonite - I will be getting cute so that I can go see my new boyfriend (Trace Atkins) in Concert - Maybe he will see me in the crowd and decide that I am the woman he has always wanted - and after the messy divorce I will become Mrs. Janet in your Dream Atkins - If you are going to dream ya gotta dream big :wink2: And I really don't want to take him away from his family and little girls and I sure don't want to raise any little girls - so maybe just a one night stand  I am kidding married ladies - but since he is a celebrity you know we can think this way  I am not a home wrecker :smile2:

Kari

If you scroll down below the reply box - you can see the last page or so of our post (I do this most times and it refreshes what I speed read through) and if you do the multi quote you can delete the part of our post that you aren't replying too to make it shorter - sometimes whe I do that I take out the smiles

Fill day today, so I drove to T.O. the nurse gave me 1/2 cc. So now I have a total of 6 1/2 cc's in a 10 cc band.

I stayed well with in my Cal target for today 1077, Carbs133, Fat 32, Protien 67 grams. YEAH ME!!! and another day with out JUNK FOOD!!!:biggrin2:

I was down 2 lbs (which includes the 1.6 that I reported the other day from my own scale at home) The clinic scale and mine are quite syncronized so that takes a lot of guess work out of the whole thing.

Then i stopped at my DD and SIL's house and we had a nice afternoon playing GUITAR HERO... does anyone know about it?

I really sucked because all the ROCK songs are from the 80's and 90's... I am sorry, but what ever happened to Beatles or Rolling Stones or Deaf Leapard music!!!!! sheesh how am I supposed to sing or play guitar to stuff I dont' even know???

We all had som good laughs though.

On the way home from there I thought I'd stop at the Casino on the way..hee,hee,ee conveniently on the route

Well, I drove up and down all the aisles in the parking lot and there were no spaces... so I left!:smile2:

Oh Janet, its already 10 p.m. here, why not pretend your visiting Ontario and its too late to Order Pizza... by the time it got to you it'd be after midnight, then you'd be up all night with acid reflux.

In the morning your eyes and face would be all puffy frm the SALT in the cheese... and your new hairdo would not look as good on your face :smile2:

Put some Parmesan cheese on your fish and perhaps a little Pasta Tomato sauce.... kinda like Chicken of the Sea Parmesan

It must be band genetics...I have been starving ALL FREAKING DAY. However, I really haven't eaten that much

Breakfast 2 eggs and 1 Kashi Waffle w/ SF Syrup

Lunch: 1 taco (consisted of 6 tortilla chips w/salsa, 1 crisp taco shell, 3 cups of lettuce, sprinkling of cheese and tomatoes, and 1/2 cup of pinto beans...that's right no meat...just didn' want it)

Snack: THe coleslaw off DH's Hawaiian Plate meal

Dinner: Well the pre-dinner snack has been handful of grape tomatoes and 2 dill pickles. dinner should be ready here shortly (pork ribs and sweet potatoes)

So why am I hungry...DId you see the lack of Protein in my meals today. Damn...I am a carnivore!

I am rooting for the fish...but pizza is real food and if you order only veggies instead of any of the meat (or go with canadian bacon cause its supposed to be the healthiest) then I am okay with that. You have gotten permission from this food cop...as long as you repeat this outloud.

"I, Janet, do hereby swear that I will eat no more than 2 pieces of pizza (1 if loaded with unhealthy, grease swimming meat) and that rest will end up in the garbage or the stomach of another person. Pizza is alright as a treat, but not as back to back meals."

Are you willing to say that outloud! Okay if you are, you may order pizza!

How is that for the daughter taking control of the situation!

Alright here are the pictures... The quality is not the greatest, but you can still see how UGLY the surroundings are around here. Everything is brown.:smile2: We all got BRIGHT orange t-shirts as a souvenier for running the 5K. Kind of made us look like we were escaping from jail down a not quite opened freeway! We are getting a new bypass through our "big metropolis" and it opens on Monday, so the local gym sponsered this run.

While I was not the fastest person by any means I was one of the VERY few runners. Most people walked it, and most of those that started out running did not do it the whole time. But I did! Didn't stop once. My goal for next weekend is another personal best. I would like to be under 33:00. It might just be possible because it is at lower altitude and hopefully I can get more oxygen!

According to the scale, I can afford to eat just what I have been. I didn't lose anything this week. I was alright with that. When I first got up this morning (at like 4AM to go potty) I was up 2 pounds, then by the time I got up for real I was down to 156.5. Don't ask me where 2 pounds went in 4 hours!

Dinner sounded better than it actually was. The meat was really fatty and I ate too many baked sweet potato fries, so I was actually kind of miserable for about an hour. Even without being filled I still have some restriction and if I push it...watch out...I still get the golf ball feeling! I didn't get my dessert tonight. The fruit salad is still in the fridge...guess I will have it with some Kashi oatmeal tomorrow. I think I should become the spokeswoman for Kashi. I LOVE their stuff. Guilt free carbs, cause it comes with all that Protein. I of course only buy the high protein stuff, as they do make non fortified stuff, which I have heard is good.

Good job on the pizza. Just remember it must go away tomorrow. Day after pizza was always my favorite!

Peaches - Good job on the food choices and the weightloss!

Good evening all. Just got back from playing cards with DH and thought I would share my news.

I went out with mom today to go shopping. Well...I guess I was the one channeling Janet. She could NOT shop because I went way overboard. I just went downtown with mom to find a pair of jeans or two. So I tried on a pair. Or maybe it was six....I lost count. But Good Freaking Lord!!!! I fit into a size 14!!! Not a womens. A 14 misses. Now I do know that it was a fluke because I couldn't fit into a 16 in the same brand, but I bought them anyhow because how could I NOT??? Then we went to the bargain basement and found a bunch of stuff 60% off. And how do you pass THAT up? Down there I found a size 13 and tried it on just for a fluke. It was tight but it fit!!!!

Then we went down to this other store. Now I NEVER buy anything in this store because it is way too rich for my blood. But while my mom was looking around I was looking at the lingerie and saw that they had Spanx. I've been wanting to try those so I bought a bodysuit. With that on that size 13 fit wonderfully! How awesome is that??? What a wonderful today. It doesn't get much better than that!

I didn't walk today. It was awfully cold today but I should have went any way. Tomorrow come hell or high water!

Have a great night all!

Good Morning Gang - Yep it's early on a Sunday morning - I have been up since 5:35  - but heck I went to bed at 10... and Ruby it's not the air filters - cuz the stupid alarm went off at 2:05 this morning - and right now the return is open as yesterday I took the filters out to wash them (I have the washable kind) and still haven't put them back. So I will try and replace battery - but GS said he just did but who knows that could have been a while ago..

Steph

Congrats on the 14's & 13's - They aren't a fluke - aren't you in the 170's I totally get why you had to buy them - I spent big bucks on my first pair of 12's just cuz they were 12's. I was reading an article in Self Magazine last night where a girl lost weight and wanted named brand (Lucky 7 - I think it might me just Seven but I don't know about brand names I have never been into that - my son was/is but not me I use to have to buy him OP's and LaCoste on a single mothers budget)

Any way she lost 30 lbs and got into her 1st pair of name brand jeans - well she lost another 30 but thoses 1st pair are hanging in he closet still cuz there meant so much to her...

Remember Shopping counts as exercise - all that trying on clothes and walking is exercise - it's more than you would get sitting on the couch..

Karri

I only ended up eat 1/2 of another piece of pizza before bed - so 1 1/2 pieces and I will be getting ready for the gym in a few - it's now 6:26 gym opens at 7 (hopefully and I think I will even walk there)

I am done with the pizza (well 99% sure of that) I didn't wake up hungry like I did yesterday and I just got on the scale and no damage done in fact it was down - but since it's not Thursday I won't say the # and it doesn't count - but l can tell you I am smiling about it..

I rarely eat unhealthily - even my Snacks aren't unhealthy - so my whole 98% vs 2% is really working for me - last night was my 2% and who would have ever believed that I would be happy eating 1 1/2 pieces of pizza where as before it would have been 4 or 5 or 6 !!!

Candice - No swollen eyes either :lol:

Ok - I gotta start getting dressed... and maybe a little more coffee and see if my paper is here -

CBL - :huh2::tongue::w00t:

I'm sure you won't let ME count shopping as exercise because I ride! I do need to log some "Wii" exercise on my signature but I lost count.

BIG NEWS...

after we got home from babysitting grandkids yesterday, the other DD CALLED ME ON THE PHONE!! Yeah, no six weeks this time!! She actually apologized for not calling me back all week. She still doesn't agree with what I did.... oh, bad mother who called her friend and said... she won't talk to me but she talks to you so would you think about calling to see how she is doing???....... but, she's speaking to me again. Said she needed some space.

That's okay... BUT.....

Wait until she finds out the other bad thing we did!! Then we'll be back in the dog house. She is refusing to pay for GD's graduation packet because she's mad at her... announcements, etc..... We didn't think that was right, so we went and paid for it and picked it up the other day. GD doesn't know we did it yet either. When it gets out there will be a whole new war!! This is too much drama for me!! I want to go back to the desert!:huh2::tongue:

You see how you FREED Steph to unleash her shopping tendencies!! Wow!! She had FUN!!

Good job on the pizza!! I was hungry yesterday, too. Neglected to take what I needed to DD's and we were there pretty much all day. So I had to scrounge for things to eat and not a lot of healthy food there. I found left over beef stew in the fridge... was mostly tomatoes with a few chunks of beef. That was okay but I was hungry an hour later! Found a string cheese and some beef Jerky to fend off the hunger. dinner time we were told to fix the kids fish sticks and tater tots. Well, I wasn't going to eat that either, so I found leftover spaghetti sauce in the fridge and heated up some frozen peas/carrots and put the sauce on top. It was weird, but filled me up. There were a whole bunch of "Lean Cuisine" things in the freezer, but, too many carbs and not enough Protein and too many calories. I was going to eat one and then I changed my mind. Then about 9:30 pm, after we were home, I was hungry again!! Had some cottage cheese and peaches with cinnamon on top.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

    • BeanitoDiego

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
