I am so jazzed - I am going to see Trace Adkins in Laughlin on 5/10

Called my gf (she has a great dh who lets her have girlfriend weekends)

and she loves to gamble (Laughlin is like Vegas use to be a LONG time ago - casinos are along the river)

So we are going 5/9 & 5/10 - I get to do something real fun !!! and drool over Trace  - I can't say I am a BIG country fan - I am mainly and R&B kinda girl - but really love all kinds of music - but right now I have this thing for Trace :tt1:- he is one hot sexy man :tt1:- he could put his shoes under my bed any day :crying:...

I have spent the last hour trying to get my stupid computer to hook up to the internet. First day back from spring break and our computer system is a nightmare. We couldn't print until about 2 hours ago, the wireless networks (we all have laptops) were screwed up and still are. So desperate for my LBT fix and the fact that I need some way to take attendance (but really just for LBT) I have a cord strung half way across my room to get internet access. Whoooo...someone is obsessive!

So onto what I have been trying to type for hours

:party:Happy Birthday Jackie!!!! :huh2::party:

Phyl - Sorry to hear about your aunt. It is okay to shed some tears though. She may not have wanted you to, but it is a natural reaction and we have to let our emotions behave naturally for us, and I am sure that she would want you to grieve in your own way.

Ruby - Congrats on pre surgery weight. I go for my TT consult on Friday. I am a little nervous. I had a dream the other night that I went to the PS and he just laughed at me and said that there was nothing he could do for me!:tt1: I guess I will be the guinea pig for the group here and let you know all the do's and dont's.

Kristin - Yep it was payday for me too...only we somehow got our deposits on Saturday! I was happy:thumbup: cause it was really sucking that our paychecks came on the first day back AFTER spring break. Talk about poor timing, but it all worked out.

Kari - My boobs must look just like yours. I went from a DDD to a DD, but really it now just looks like I am trying to stuff them with crepe paper! They are hideous. Even with that look I don't mind it too much, but when I bend over in the shower it is pathetic...They must be about 4 feet long!!:crying::tt1::lol::thumbup:

Linda - Just wanted to say HI!

Peaches - How are you doing today? Is the port incision as sore this time as it was the first time. That was the only thing that even remotely gave me problems

Mom - yep the granola stuff was heavenly!!! It is one of those things that I have to make sure that I only eat when I am scheduled to or I could definetly go overboard on that! I love beets but only if they are pickled so I haven't been eating them because of the extra sugar, but since I can have a few more calories now I can have a few now and then. I had asparagus yesterday too. I was upset when they told me I might not be able to eat asparagus after surgery because it had just become one of my favorite veggies. I refused to eat it growing up, but now it is my absolute favorite. Well that and green peas. I don't get to count them as a veggie though...I have to count them as a starch GRRRRR. Trace Adkins is very dreamy, though I have always been a HUGE Toby Keith fan. Not so much for R&B though! I drove through Laughlin several times but never stopped there. I know that a lot of people that live in Vegas go there to escape the big city. I would say that it is pretty (though hardly anything in southern Nevada is what I would classify as pretty...too much brown) but essentially I have only driven through there during night hours so I don't really know! I don't really feel sorry for you when it comes to your current weather though. It was 19 degrees here this morning and SIGNIFICANTLY less if you factor in the windchill. Oh and then top it with the fact that one of our boilers is down at work and I am FREEZING! I am going to be a popsicle by the end of the day! Yes our school is falling apart!

Well I had best get going, next set of drones will be filing through the door in 11 minutes!

Karri

We all totally understand - not being able to get to LBT... It's the 1st thing I do in the morning when I come to work and on the weekends and the last thing I do at night :tt1::lol::blink:

Right now it's 70 and no winds... But I am stuck in the office...

You know there really isn't any food I can't eat - I havent' tried a sandwich on sour dough or french roll - but that's just cuz i would fill up too fast just on the bread - but I can eat anything so far...

I got into Trace while watching the Apprentince - He seems like a really nice person.. My sis likes Toby Keith - I just don't listen to Country music - except today I googled Trace and listend to his other songs' - I really liked the one he sang on the show "you're gonna miss this"

I have only been to Laughlin twice - once on a turn around back in the 80's and then my nephew fought in some tough man competition. It's a 3 hr drive thru the ugly desert :crying: but my gf candy (Peaches she is a Candace - you spell yours with an I :tt1:) will have me cracking up the whole way. We are the kind of friends that you have once in a life time - we finish each other sentences - know what we are going to say before it's said - and she has such a great sense of humor - I am always laughing with her. We use to be eating buddy's - well we still are - it's just I can't eat too much :huh2: she is overweight but tall and I don't really see it - just like she didn't see my weight - when you love someone - the weight isn't what you see it's the person..

I am just looking forward to having some grown up fun - I am still a Mom and being single limits where I go - so I am really looking forward to this - but i can tell you one thing - i probably wouldn't be making these plans 80 lbs ago - didn't have the energy - but now I feel so good about myself - I am no longer ashamed about my clothed body

Well back to work - ck back later...

Yeah, the wind is blowing and it's COLD! Only 45 this morning... 49 now. Sad morning for me as my Mom called to tell me my Aunt Genny died this morning. I knew it was a long shot, but was hoping she'd hold on until summer so I could see her one more time. She was kinda my "other" Mom. But, she wouldn't want me to be sitting on the couch bawling this morning, so, though my heart's not in it, I gotta get ready for Water aerobics! TTYL

I am so sorry your Aunt Ginny passed away. I know you were looking forward to seeing her once more this summer...

You are honouring her memory by living life to the fullest and enjoying your water aerobic and taking care of your health. She would like that.

(((hugs))))

Yep we do have matching arms - and you look whiter than me - even with your latin blood  - and yes Linda - freckle - I have them on my arms back chest - I was never a big tanner as a kid - but as a child we vacationed at the beach every summer - and those were the pre-sun block day :)

The granola furit and cream cheese sound delious - how did you make it just mix it all together - oh that sounds so good - I am hungry - all I have had was that ice cream cone. I made some spag squash - is it suppose to be a little crunchy - I cooked it per the direction 45 mins 350 in a little Water - then turn it over and cook until tender - well is scoops out just fine with a fork - but its a tad crunchy - - I think I need to go put my fish on..

Jackie - here in the desert it's hard to find longer sleeve during the spring and summer and it gets so hot that you really don't even want to look at 3/4 lenght sleeve they just look hot..

Ok I will be back - I am going to put my fish in the oven....

But I want the receipt for the cream cheese fruit granola thingie...

You just need to cook it a tad longer, thats all Janet. I had mine tonight with chicken Alfredo(homemade) sauce on it YUMMY!!!

Sticking to my food plan YEAH:biggrin:

A married couple were asleep when the phone rang at 2 in the morning. The wife (undoubtedly blonde), picked up the phone, listened a moment and said, "How should I know, that's 200 miles from here!" and hung up.

The husband said, "Who was that?"

The wife said, "I don't know, some woman wanting to know if the coast is clear."

SECOND DEGREEi_safe.gif

Two blondes are walking down the street. One notices a compact on the sidewalk and leans down to pick it up. She opens it, looks in the mirror and says, "Hmm, this person looks familiar."

The second blonde says, "Here, let me see!"

So the first blonde hands her the compact. The second one looks in the mirror and says, "You dummy, it's me!"

THIRD DEGREEi_safe.gif

A blonde suspects her boyfriend of cheating on her, so she goes out and buys a gun. She goes to his apartment unexpectedly and when she opens the door she finds him in the arms of a redhead. Well, the blonde is really angry.

She opens her purse to take out the gun, and as she does so, she is overcome with grief. She takes the gun and puts it to her head.

The boyfriend yells, "No, honey, don't do it!!!"

The blonde replies, "Shut up, you're next!"

FOURTH DEGREEi_safe.gif

A blonde was bragging about her knowledge of state capitals. She proudly says, "Go ahead, ask me, I know all of them."

A friend says, "OK, what's the capital of Wisconsin?"

The blonde replies, "Oh, that's easy: W."

FIFTH DEGREEi_safe.gif

What did the blonde ask her doctor when he told her she was pregnant?

"Is it mine?"

SIXTH DEGREEi_safe.gif

Bambi, a blonde in her fourth year as a UCLA freshman, sat in her US government class. The professor asked Bambi if she knew what Roe vs. Wade was about.

Bambi pondered the question then finally said, "That was the decision George Washington had to make before he crossed the Delaware."

SEVENTH DEGREEi_safe.gif

Returning home from work, a blonde was shocked to find her house ransacked and burglarized. She telephoned the police at once and reported the crime. The police dispatcher broadcast the call on the radio, and a K-9 unit, patrolling nearby was the first to respond.

As the K-9 officer approached the house with his dog on a leash, the blonde ran out on the porch, shuddered at the sight of the cop and his dog, then sat down on the steps. Putting her face in her hands, she moaned, "I come home to find all my possessions stolen. I call the police for help, and what do they do? They send me a BLIND policeman!"

First I want to thank EVERYONE of you for your birthday wishes. They were so heartwarming to hear!! THank you thank you thank you. I always need to thank Janet for telling everyone that birthdays don't count for calories. THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL I went out for lunc and for supper!! Then tonight we were in the grocery store and DH and kids wanted to buy a cake. I said NO NO NO. They kept telling me we had to have cake so I said ok my favorite is cheese cake (I know TERRIBLE choice) so we went to the deli for a fresh cheese cake. They had very small round ones that we could cut into 4 and it would be gone and everyone would get a small portion and then they had bigger ones that we could all have 2 big pieces. I contemplated the bigger one for quite a while. Walked around the store with it in the cart and kept thinking 'it won't count today'. My son was so frustrated with me because I picked it up and walked with the bigger one and then put it back and got the smaller one about 4 times until I finally decided 'no we need the smaller one!' so I went back for the last time and put the bigger one back and picked up the smaller one and said to DH 'lets get the hell out of here before I change my mind again!' and we left with the little one. We came home and everyone had a small portion and it is gone and done with with no left overs. My birthday was great but I think I will be paying for this day for the next week. We had mexican for supper and chinese for lunch. DAMN IT I WANTED MY DAY!

Yeah, the wind is blowing and it's COLD! Only 45 this morning... 49 now. Sad morning for me as my Mom called to tell me my Aunt Genny died this morning. Phyl I am soooo sorry to hear about your aunt Genny passing. Congrats to you for pushing yourself at a time like this and going to aerobics. She would have been sooooo very proud of you. My prayers are with you.

Phyl - So sorry about your Aunt. Here is a lovely poem for your.

Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there; I do not sleep.< /p>

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am the diamond glints on snow,

I am the sun on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circling flight.

I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I am not there; I did not die.

Mango-my gosh this made me cry. I had found this on the internet a few years ago and read it to my kids father. He liked it so much he said 'when I die I want that for my obituary and my eulogy (sp?). We did not know at the time that a very short year and a half later he would be gone. Today was a very hard day with missing him and tongiht when I read that it gave me goss bumps because it reminded me of him and how he looked when he told me that. I know that it was meant for Phyl and I appreciate that but I also want to thank you for bringing that memory back to me today. :)

Jackie

I am glad you had a GREAT BIRTHDAY... EXCELLENT choice on the smaller cheesecake:thumbup: You had your treat but didn't over do it to the 10th degree.. I am so proud of you  Your birthday is your day and it is special and I truly don't feel that we have to deprive ourselves on our day and we have learn not to go overboard - you ate out - but i bet you didn't eat as much as you did last year:tongue: You went to the gym today and you will go tomorrow... it won't be that bad - infact you will probly loose more weight this week - it seems like when you give your body those extra calories it sometime helps....

I wanted to share this before I signed off for the night - my trainer said - we don't want to be normal - normal people are the ones who are fat and don't exercise - we want to be abnormal cuz we want to eat healthy and exercise... Think about it the majority of American's are overweight (Candice I don't know about Canandians ) This is the norm now a days - so we don't want to be normal - we want to be abnormal :)

Something to ponder:rolleyes:

Sweet dreams - I am of to change in to my jammies and eat my abnormal meal of fish rich and french style green beans...

TTYL tomorrow

Hey everyone. I know it has been a while, but I wanted to get on and post a quick update. I've been doing pretty well, and even though things haven't been the best with my family since October, my DH has said it's been nice to have a lull in my emotions because I'm not on the constant emotional roller coaster.

For Spring break, we spent 3 days in Vegas. We had a blast, and I do have to say I was bad and was completely toasted every night. However, I was blessed not to have problems with hangovers, and I managed to lose a pound while we were there. I think I must have walked off all the calories and then some. I do have to say though that I hate traveling in that I can't eat at the good restaurants like I want to. I know it's a good thing, but it's still hard. :) I attached a couple of pics. One was from the Kahunaville bar in Treasure Island. I think we were there all 3 nights we were there because it was fun. They had dueling piano's one night and a flare competition with the bartenders another night. Then, DH and I had a date night and we dressed up to see Mystere (the Cirque du Soleil show) at Treasure Island. It was awesome, so the 2nd pic is from that night, and I have to say I love that pic because you can actually see my true eye color and not the dark eyes I normally get from the red eye fixer in all the photo programs! :) Now if I can just get rid of the double chin... :puke:

I also finally hit the 60 pound mark. I know the reason I'm not further along is because I haven't been exercising like I need to be. It's getting easier to want to get out now though because it's warming up. I'm also teacher aiding 2 days a week so I'm getting exercise on those days too.

I wasn't able to read all the past posts to catch up, but was glad to see posts from Chim & Lynette. :) For all of you who I missed, belated Birthday wishes are going out to all of you. And Karri (I hope I remembered right), congrats on the upcoming wedding. My hubby loves playing games like World of Warcraft, Civilization, etc. There are nights he'll play until 3 am before he knows what time it is. :)

I'm glad to see you all doing well, and I really need to do better at posting.

Talk again soon!!

~Nichole

Nichole - Cute picture!

Vegas - You lucky dog, I wanna go there too.

Jackie - I just heard a physic dude say he doesn't believe anything is a coincidence. Maybe God worked through me to get a message to you. Now I have goose bumps.

Google: Do not grieve poem

You will get different versions of the poem.

Janet - Trace Atkins..... I chee whaa whaa

I don't get things for celebrities, but Trace just does it for me.

That big hunk of man is hot. :puke::tt1::):tt1:

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

      1. NickelChip

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

    • BeanitoDiego

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
