;)

Jackie - Like I have said a million times before only a fat person can understand another fat person - We don't judge those dirty little secerts cuz we all have them. We are all the same in so many way - I'm just not afaird to put it out there cuz i know that the majority here can relate to my story or issues about food..

Some have health issues for their weight problems - but most of us are fat cuz we ate too much and didn't exercise.

I love all of you here - I love my band - and love the new found energy that i have..

Well, gotta get back to work -

xoxo

Janet

All shucks, Indio...I love you tooo!!! ;)

Phyllser - this next month I'll be out more than in...just keep me on the list and I'll be sure to report back the day after Thanksgiving!

The Challenge - I've managed to stay away from the candy (not completely, but I'm doing MUCH better). The Challenge has also kick started my working out. I got out the pedometer (which works sporadically, but I get an idea of what I'm doing/not doing) and I've been out chopping wood everyday and swimming a couple times a week with the kids. So all in all, if I don't lose any serious pounds, I've won already! Now, if the weather just cooperates...we've still got a PILE of logs to chop before they freeze to the ground! We had 3 inches of snow last night and woke up to RAIN! Oh yeah, that was NIIIIICCCCCEEEEE! NOT!

Hello my Lucky # 7's. Well we went to our Halloween party last night and guess what...............DH and I (raggedy ann and andy) won 3rd place!!!!! HAHA It was sooooo fun! We lost to a little boy (kids always win though because they are just so darn cute!!) and my mom and her boyfriend. They really deserved it though!! They went as a 1920's flapper girl and gangster. They looked awsome!!!

I danced the night away and had a couple of strawberry strippers. Didn't look at the calorie count on those because I prob would have freaked out!!! I don't feel guilty though because it was a special occassion and I do not do that very often.

I have to tell you though I was so proud of myself. All this yummy food around and I didn't over eat and didn't even think of the food after I ate. I had made my maidrites (93% lean ground beef and salsa) and I ate the meat and a very few (not even a full serving) of chips and that is all I ate. I was very satisfied and didn't feel deprived at all. I think I might just be winning this head thing and my thinking is definately changing. I wasn't worried about 'how am I going to get more food and not be noticed' or eating just a little and starving myself because I didn't want to look like a pig. I was more worried about getting out on that dance floor and gettin my groove on. LOL What a NSV!!!

Anyway sorry I was rambling.

I am down 2 pounds for the Thanksgiving challenge!! Haven't gained yet today from my last night adventures but sometimes it takes a couple of days. I have ramped up my exercise and kept myself moving today hoping to ward of gain and maybe burn extra because of last night.

Hope everyone else is doing great!!!

I'd like to be on the list too! 291/281 - I just wish my scale would match up a little closer to the Dr. scale - I weighed 273 the morning before my appointment, and the scale at the Dr. said 291 - was very disappointed with my loss - a little over 6 pounds, but not as good as I'd thought. Usually the scale is only off by 6 pounds compared to the one at home. Argh.

I'm starting to worry about my next fill appointment, I scheduled it for the day before Thanksgiving - and will be on liquids for the big turkey day - wonder if gravy counts. Kim

Congrats Jackie! You sound like a "normal" person who really enjoyed a party without treating it as another eating opportunity. That is HUGE, and I am proud of you! Thanks for sharing your NSV with us!

Kim, you lost 37 pounds in 3 months. That's over 10 pounds a month. Nothing wrong with that! Good for you to schedule a fill for the day before Thanksgiving. THAT shows commitment!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
