Thanks Snag. Even though Daisy suffered while she was dying, it was quick. About 10 minutes total. I know how you feel and I am sorry for your loss, too.

Linda, thanks for your kind words. Isn't it amazing, the human ability to love so many people and animals. We are so lucky although with love comes pain. ying and yang and all that. The Prophet was very profound.

Sunny, I am so sorry about your Daisy. I might help you to know that we had a beloved dog that had very similiar symptoms. I somehow made it to the emergency night vet. In her case it was a twisted stomach. Yes, they "saved" her but she went from poor sight to completely blind. Her back legs were mostly paralized and went from bad to tipping over when she tried to stand. Her quality of life was horrible after the incident. She made it for a few months but we were all miserable for her. At the end we had to drag her sideways across the grass while she went potty. (she was a bit prissy, a standard poodle, didn't want anything on her). We finally had to put her to sleep when she couldn't even move and was in terrible pain (excessive panting all the time and whining) . I would have hated losing her any time, she was so loved, but watching her really suffer after being 'saved' was an awful 5 months. I know whenever they die, it's very hard. I am so sorry. CC

Lynette, If it helps, my kids go to a school that does first and second grade during the 1st grade year. The teachers there don't want the preschool teachers to let the kids write at all! They say that when the kid is writing really young it messes everything up for "real" writing in first grade. They have to unlearn bad habits. They do what you are doing. Letter sounds, numbers, counting by 10's and 5's (4 year olds). The kids excel in grade school. By those standards, you are on the right track! The main thing they want parents to do is read the kids books that are above the kids level. They learn vocab words, they learn to speak more intelligently, they tell better stories, and they learn to love reading - which is wonderful for the rest of their life of learning! I hope you can get him in where you want him, but I wouldn't stress that he's not a grown man at age 3!! (It almost sounds like what they expect!) (before thursday, try having him toss a tennis ball up, just a bit and catching it, after a few successes, a little higher....Find him some things to "snap" together, like Easter eggs, legos, duplos....Give him dull tweezers (watch him, I had a nephew walk immediately to a socket with anything pointy!) and some cotton balls. Can he move them to a cupcake pan- putting one in each hole? Things like that help with smaller motor skills. Also, catching can be a problem when he's young if he is right or left handed and opposite eyed. (cross dominant (sp?). Someone here will know more about large motor skills.

Burping thoughts. I think as my food goes down bit by bit, air comes up. Burps are getting louder. I have just been trying to get alone for a minute or two and get most of it out awhile after eating. I wonder if the grumbling stomachs are b/c our body knows we have eaten, but most of our digestive juices are in our lower stomach. I've always thought that the "growling" noise was digestive juices having nothing to digest (when you are hungry). So maybe we are noisier because our stomachs are waiting for the food. My wasn't so loud after "eating" when I was on liquids...?...idea....maybe.....?

Sorry that I just wrote a book. Oh, I had a "slime pb combo" - it was very very slimy - try to avoid!! ;) !! CC

I must be the odd one out. I've had no problems with burping. Occasionally I'll hic cup once or twice, but that's about it. I also don't have a rumbly tummy. :cry

Hello everyone,

Thanks for all the kind words for Hunter. He'll be fine, I know it, even if he can't start until next year. He is a smart little cookie, and he can already read some words. He takes keys and opens locks, he does amazing things, just not the things they wanted him to do. I'm not going to stress over it, as there is nothing else I can do, in 2 days anyway. They will accept him as he is, or I'll try to locate another preschool at a local church, etc. What's ironic is that he's overachieving in social skills, and he's really not been around other kids at all. My MIL watches him at home, so no day care situation, and we go to parks, play areas, around other kids, and he has done pretty good, but not on an every day basis.

Oh well, it's not in my hands, and I know he will be fine either way. He is my first, my last, and only, and he's so loved and going to turn into a fine young man one day!!

Hey Snaggle, CC, and Frustrated!

I have a loud stomach, now, too. It seems to always be making some sound, but esp. if it's time to eat.

Sunny, So sorry to hear of your loss. I have cats and have had to put two of them to sleep in the past five years and they had been with me for over 13 years. It is so sad, as these are my babies.

Lynette, Sorry about the challenges facing Hunter. Never heard of such a thing as this kind of testing. Agree with whoever said that we've become way too competitive, too soon!

Hi Chim n Everyone

I'm doing ok. Burping just like most of you and apologizing to all those who might be offended. I just bought a winter jacket today that fits very snug on me in the hopes that it will be loose fitting by the winter. I also bought a pair a stretchy fitting pants today because my jeans are still tight around my port site and made me uncomfortable when I went out this weekend. Now my port site hurts. The pain has subsided a little. I hope I haven't done any damage. I'm trying extremely hard not to buy any clothes because I don't plan on getting a lot of wear out of them due to weight loss.

Walking Record

I did 1/2 an hour on the treadmill today. Wow it was easy! Thats the 1st time I could say that.

lindaa, they didn't really give me any sugestions, although they told me they sould check to see if he can go up and down stairs with alternating feet, or if he could kick a ball. This was the moror skills he failed. Cutting with scissors- My child is 3 and he has never held a pair of scissors, so he doesn't know how to cut. They tossed him a bean bag, and he didn't catch it. We've always rolled balls inside the hose, and he throws then outside, but he's not able to catch yet. He didn't know how to twiddle his thumbs. I've not taught him that. But what mother would, and would let their son play with scissors. He has to sort blocks with shapes on them into piles and then stack them. He just stated stacking them and pushed them over. He couldn't draw the shapes although he new them, and he could not write his name.

To me, if he can't do these things, wouldn't you think these would be things he could learn in preschool. DUH!!!!!!!! What's school for, to learn. I'm beginning to feel like we failed him. I've concentrated so much on the ABC, and 123 of learning, that I forgot to teach him how to cut with scissore and catch a bean bag. I can say he did very good at social skills, getting dressed by himself, brushing his teeth, washing his hands by himself. I don't know what difference Thursday will make for him, because I'm sure they give him different tests, so we'll see. I just hate fo him to fall behind this early.

GOOD GRIEF!! I can't believe all this!! For heaven's sake, laugh it off!! He's 3 yrs old and he's supposed to be able to write his name!! No way!! By these standards, our three pre-school grandchildren are all retarded!! Or at least significantly motor-challenged!! WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?? He's a normal kid!! Give me a break!! Give HUNTER a break!! Does anyone else besides me think this is ridiculous>>???? Lynette, quit worrying!!

:faint:

Lynette, thanks for the understanding words. She was my baby girl and I keep looking for her tonight. MY heart just aches. I know it will get better but it feels like crap right now.

I will post after the hopefully successful fill tomorrow. Y'all don't know of anyone who was unable to get a fill under fluro, do you? It would be just my luck.

Sunny,

I'm so sorry about Daisy! It's awful to lose a pet. And, so sorry about the bad experience with your first fill. Hope it goes better tomorrow. I got my appt today for my first. It will be Sept. 6th.

If Dini doesn't come back soon I'm going to quit being Auntie Phyl!!!

Sunny - I'm soooo sorry about your baby. I dread the day we lose ours.

Today a friend sent me an email of a chihauhau. She is long hair, white, with brown ears and a perfect brown heart shaped spot on her side.

Lynette - Utterly Ridiculous!!! Who the hell gives a 3 year old scissors? I would be concerned about this preschool. They have already made you feel your child is lacking. What are they going to do to his self esteem? And nothing is wrong with him, he sounds very smart. Are these kind of test normal now? Kindergarten used to be for learning how to use scissors.

Thank you for you suggestion, I will try to dring some hot liquids like tea or green tea, but I thought we shoulden't be drinking with a meal... yesterday night I was trying to eat tiny small peaces of a peach, I tell you it wasn't easy... I had to wait for more thank 15-20 min to burp...to get some comfort... I don't know if I am being a nagger or whining....I don't know really when I will get used to the fill, I am supposed to fill again after two weeks and a half... and after that in 4 days it would be the month of Ramadan (FAsting), I don't think I will go... it is the month when we Muslims, don't eat between sun rise till sun down... and then have a light meal.. another one before sun rise.

Do you think it will be wise to fill before the fasting month?..... I have filled now for 4 days and still can't get back to my normal habits of drinking water... I used to drink around 2 liters of Water daily.. this was a habit that I can't get back to... and this is really bothering me... I am a water drinker....

I am affraid that the fear of the pain of entering anything to my stomach is contronling me......

I don't know if any of you out there has my fears... pls. share them with me.......

Maria

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
