Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Kristin, whenever I do my scrapbooking, I borrow all my sisters scissors, so all I have to buy is the extra little things. We have a few stores just for scrapbooking and they are expensive, but Walmart has some things that arean't too bad.

only4me, thanks for replying. I knew you were going to be so I figured I'd hear from you tomorrow. Thanks, I'll have to try that for dinner tomorrow night.

Cazulay, congrats on the loss and your progression onto mushys!!

Congrats, Caz on your wt loss!!! Isn't it exciting to see those lbs go?!?!?

Kristin, I've never scrapbooked before. It looks like a lot of fun though. Do you have a LapBand scrapbook??? Maybe you should make one. I did learn how to knit from a lady at my church and I found that to be very relaxing. I've been making those trendy, furry scarves. Haven't finished one, yet, though. LOL! I'm getting there.

Chim, I'm constantly walking at work, for 7 of my 8 hour shift. I wished I worked in a mall, then I'd be a mall walker during my breaks!!! I know I'll get there, and hopefully make up for it over the weekend.

Well, have a good night everyone. I'm home alone with Hunter tonight, DH is at a concert in Columbus. He's wore me out, so we're heading to bed.

G'nite eveyone!!

Chim, I got an IM from Dini about an hour ago. We were chating, and then she signed off right in the middle. I hope nothing was wrong, and someone just walked in or something. G'nite.

Hi everyone! I haven't been on in awhile as I've been out of town. Been catching up on the posts.

Someone was asking about Slimfast shakes. Your doctor is probably thinking about the original shakes, not the new low carb ones. They've got 190 calories, only 6 carbs and four of those are Fiber, so net of 2 carbs, and they have 20 grams of Protein. And they are delicious! You can get a pack of 15 cans at Sam's for a really good price. Only $16 ish, and at the grocery stores it costs $5.50 to $6.50 for a four-pack, so it's a good bargain.

I have a shake for Breakfast each day. I stick a can in the freezer while I dry my hair and then pour it into a frozen glass...delicious!

My surgery was 7/16, so I'm in the mushy stage, but eating more of the minced meats, like minced ham and turkey. Had tuna once, but it didn't taste that good. Haven't had any in years and I identify it as a diet food. Also having mashed and baked potato flesh. And well chewed chicken and pork. I don't really like many mushy foods, so I've been eating much more soft or shredded foods instead.

Don't get my first fill until six weeks out, 8/30. No problem eating any foods right now. But still eating between 500 and 850 calories most days. Still very aware of the port as it seems to pull when you move or roll onto your stomach, etc. so sleeping on stomach isn't as comfortable as it used to be.

Doing okay and still losing weight slowly, so I'm pleased.

Brandy, sounds like you're doing well, too! Good for you. It seems more and more of us are getting to the mushies phase. I'm glad you're still dropping those lbs...say goodbye b/c you won't be seeing them again! WOOHOOO!!!!

I can't get a fill until 6 weeks out, either. I really think I need one, though. So, I have to wait until 9/5 before that can happen. Oh well. I will just continue to hang strong until then.

What kind of unflavored Protein Powder is everyone using? Are you happy with it? what all do you mix it in? Thanks for the info and advice! Kim

unruhlyhd- I use beneprotein in my food. I don't really taste it. It is unflavored. I will let you know how the grape bullets go. Lets both hope better than the fruit punch. YUCK!!!!!!!!!

I haven't told too many a few people but my gf here at work blabbed it to almost everyone... I hate everyone coming in saying how are your doing - how much weight have you lost. I am not one to put all my business in the street... :eyebrows:

indioGirl- so sorry you had a friend who told everyone. I hate it when people do that. If it was something you wanted others to know you would have told. It is not her business to be sharing.

Good afternoon to all --how is your day going? I got some great sleep, am less sore today (8 days out) and feeling pretty good.:bounce:

The band I have is a APL (14cc's), it's one of the new bands, but not sure what the difference really is from any other band out there, maybe my doc said less healing time? Not sure.....

Have I told anyone since surgery? Not really, since everyone pretty much knew prior to it....lol. It's a big deal and I shared with my family and friend support group.....it's been great so far.

Since I had my one week follow up yesterday and the nurse told me to take more liquids for hunger, I have and really feel much better about it. I don't know why I thought I could only have so much each day....crazy.....they shouldn't have told me all this when I was in recovery....my brain was fuzzy.....:notagree

Caolin- so glad you are feeling better today. Your body probably just needed the rest. You have been through a lot!!!

Chimboree, Thanks!

All, Someone else was asking about who was telling and who was not. I'm still not! No one at work knows. And I only told two friends and a couple of family members. I kind of like it this way. It's my secret, so although people are noticing, they haven't got a clue.

Bought two bathing suits this weekend. Very pleased with them!

I've always had bathing suits. I go to the beach, on cruises, etc. Bought one one-piece and one two-piece tankini. Love them! That's the only things new I've bought. I've been just stepping back through my old clothes. I think I'll keep doing that for the most part, until I've reached my weight or I run out of clothes..... :))

:help:Ok people i have been wanting to ask this question... It's gross i know but since we have all been banded together i want to know if anyone else has this problem and maybe they have been to embarressed to ask. So her goes

I have had bathroom issues since i was banded 7/17.. At first it didn't bug me cuz as Sunny said Liqiud in liquid out.. but then came mushy and still was have a problem - baby poop and OMG my tush has been killing me (hemoroids)- i almost have dumping - nothing immediately but soon after i eat i am on the pot.

Sunday finally bought some imodium ad - and was doing better but still go often - tush does seem to be healing up - but has anyone else had a problem in this department...:)

I was told by a friend who has a friend that was banded that she too has this problem - this person is a nurse (the banded one) and said that alot of bad people will either have the trots or plug up issues..

Anyone??

I have a problem with being plugged up. I bought some benefiber but have not started using it you. I don't know which is worse. At least my tush isn't sore :biggrin1:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
