Goodnight everyone. Jeanie, thanks for the extra support. I really appreciate it. BTW, I feel your swimming pain. I'd absolutely love to have a pool, and if I did, I'd be really pissed if the pump broke and I couldn't go in. Make sure the DH of yours fixes it a.s.a.p.

Thanks Dear! Sweet Dreams!!! Hope you feel great in the morning!!!:notagree

I didn't have trouble with scrambled eggs!!! They were delicious! But I have read that some people do! I guess you won't know if you don't try. If you are allowed to, I would probably try it! Just me though! Not sure what you feel comfortable with!!!

Anyway, they just wanted to see the kitchen. So they stayed for a bit and then my DH came home and we talked for awhile. Still no answer about watching Sarah that week in Oct. so that my DH can come with me to Palm Springs. I guess I'll have to call her tomorrow to ask.

Kathy

Your are coming to my neck of the woods...;). I live 20 miles from Palm Springs - My Doc is in P.S. What are you coming to Palm Springs for... Where are you from.. I forget these things..:)

My husband had a knee replacement this past Weds. so I haven't been posting. I was very gassy and bloated until yesterday ( I was banded on 7/17). As of Thursday I've lost 14 lbs. so I'm pretty thrilled. Don't yet feel I can get into full exercise mode yet. How are others doing? Anyone exercising yet?

Reconciler

You and i banded on the same day ;) Congrats on your 14 lbs

I went to doc on thrusday and he said i could go to the gym do treadmil and arms - but nothing that requires stomach mucsles.. So Monday I am going back to the gym and walk on the treadmill. Also My doc moved me to mushie s:clap2:

I am feeling great - the only time my port hurt is when i have pants on - so have been wearing dresses - Went back to work last monday.

as of this morning i am down 19 lbs...

Happy Birthday!!!! If I were there, I would sing to you! :note::note:

Hope you are having a wonderful one! I hear you about the soul searching. I think we're both in the same spot...big decisions to make here over the next several weeks, but it's all good. We'll do what's right!

Here's a birthday rose for you!;)

Kristin, that sounds soooo good. Still just full liquids for me right now. But I'm doing okay w/it.

Sunny, good for you--taking it easy. We have to listen to our bods. They know what's best when we're recovering. I took it easy today, myself. Tomorrow will be more of the same.

Reconciler, sorry bout your husband's knee. Glad you're back! I'm sure this time has been a bit rough for both of you. No exercise here, other than walking. I can't wait, though. Who thought I'd ever be saying that one??? And congrats on the wt loss. I haven't weighed myself yet.

Gnite everyone. I just took some pain med and I know it will start kicking in shortly. I will check in w/ya'll tomorrow!

Hey,

I had my surgery on the 23rd and to be honest, I am just now starting to feel better and it is the 28th. I tried driving on the 26th which was not a good idea. I was falling asleep at the red lights! So needless to say, I started listening more to body and just slowed down. I gained five pounds when I left the hospital. However, I am now down between 7-8lbs. I am actually ok with the liquid diet, crazy as it sounds! My stomach is finally starting to deflate. I have tapered off the medications and switched to Tylenol. Tonight will be the first night without liquid percocet. God willing.

I too have experienced pain in the port area. An for some reason, I have developed a tickle cough which is a nightmare after this surgery. What I have done is I hold a pillow to my stomach, cross my arms across my abs and cough. It is a lot less painful.

I had to back out of New England Country Music concert today at Gillette Stadium. It is an all day affair, with about a mile back & forth for parking, 10 hrs in the sun, and 25,000 people. If one person bumped into me I could have ended up back in the hospital. And as silly as it sounds, I know I made the right decision, but I was all weepy eyed today. And truth be told, I wanted to turn to food for comfort. I can't do that anymore. But feeling the feelings absolutely SUCK!

So, I am writing you guys in hope the it will lift some of this yucky feeling that I am experiencing. I feel very lonely in this recovery and truthfully it's killing me. I am single and live alone and have had some great friends come help me, but in general it is me going through this every day. And if it wasn't for this forum, I might go nuts!

So thank you for listening to my babble...and getting me through these first few days. Each day I feel better, I just think today the emotions caught up with me. Good news is that this day is almost over, and tomorrow is a new day.

Keeping you all in my prayers....

Just happened to check back on and didn't want to leave a friend that is struggling ... Maybe you are doing too much too fast! I wasn't able to drive for a week, there is a lot of anesthesia left in your system and I was told if I were in an accident, I would be at fault whether I was or not! Just something to think about, plus with being on the pain meds. you are tired! I'd be careful with that one!;)

Other people on here have reported port pain! Honestly, I was banded on the 9th and that is the only incision that I still have to watch! I don't want to bump it or anything! It takes awhile for our bodies to adjust and adapt to this new way of life! Give it time!

I am sorry you had to miss the concert! That was rough I can imagine, but just think, this time next year, you will be able to go and you will look HOT and feel soooo much better! :whoo:

I am sure it is rough being alone during your recovery! Perhaps ask your friends to stay with you once in awhile! That might give your spirits a lift! But on the bright side ... you don't have to cook meals you can't eat for everybody else in your household, lol!!!! :clap2: Believe me, that can be a tough one, lol!!!!! :cry

Hang in there, you are right, tomorrow is a new day! I hope you are pain free tonight and don't need those extra meds!!! sleep tight, Dear!!! :notagree

Hello everyone,

It's been now a week, I don't live in the States. I had my operation last Sat. and suffering from a neck and shoulder pain :help:, especially the right side. I am still having liquieds, I do hope you accept me as a memeber of your society. It wasn't easy to take that descision, I always thought that I can do it without any surgery, but two week ago, I felt that I don't have to stay under all this pressure of thinking what to eat when I get home, and feeling the guilt of emotional eating which I do a lot. So I made up my mind, and went through and did it...:paranoid It was a quick decision, but I guess if I didn't do it now, I won't ever...

Pls. support me and advice of what is best to do....

Maria

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
