Recommended Posts

Marcy, I have a few acres and my son was always doing that. I always figured that was the advantage of being a guy.

Dini and I don't need too much space. And just think, you would be introducing us to guys continuously hoping to get rid of us quickly :)

Didn't you say you have a lot of friends in law enforcement...hot, hot , hot...:)

AH LAW ENFORCEMENT, THEY CAM ENFORCE ME ANY DAY!!!

JESUS SUNNY WE REALLY ARE GOING TO HAVE TO GO UP THERE !!!

Dini it takes a while for internal stitches to dissolve. And scars feel lumpy when they are new. That will fade with time. Nothing for you to worry about.

SUNNY I'M TALKING ABOUT THE ACTUALLY STITCHES WITH THREAD. NOT PAPER OR GLUE

MY OTHER 3 INCISIONS ARE ALL FINE?

Dini, I understand what you are talking about. They use real thread stitches inside that are designed to dissolve over time. The stitches she left in your incision probably need to be taken out by now. It has been long enough. You should check with your doctor.

I have to say, I've never been much for online chat groups... that was before this one. I guess it helps that we are all in this together, doing the same thing. I also think that since we are all at the same stage in this process that it has helped bond us.

So, I think my best support is here. I can ask questions, share ideas, laugh, and unfortunately cry at times, with all of you.

Having said that, I am fortunate. I have a very supportive DH, and my best friend was banded several years ago, so is a great support.

My DH will be like most of your's, though. At some point I will see his question mark on what I'm eating. I call it the diet police!

I have a post surgery question.. What did you buy food wise and medication wise (over the counter stuff) prior to sugery to get you through the first few days?

I've bought apple juice, cranberry juice, popsicles, orange juice (no pulp), Jello pops, beef broth, chicken broth and veggie broth. But no meds.

I'm supposed to be on clear fluids until Sunday and then full fluids after that for 10 days.

Any suggestions on what to buy to stock up? I'm going tomorrow after work to shop.

Okay, I'm a little pissed right now. I was just talking to a friend of mine who, thus far, has been supportive. She said she was talking to her girlfriend (who's studying to be a nurse) told her "There's a lot of complications w/that thing".

Okay,

(1) Do you think I haven't done my research about this and am unaware of the complications? What did you expect my response to be??? "Oh really? I didn't know that. Shucks, I didn't even think about complications. I didn't factor that into my decision." :) I have researched this damn procedure for the longest and actually told my surgeon I've watched the video so much that I could probably assist him in his next surgery.

(2) My surgery is in 2 freakin days. I don't want to hear this mess right now. I don't even want to talk to her anymore about this. I'm so damn mad right now. Excuse my French.:angry:angry:angry

(3) I'm sick of people who are uneducated about this process putting in their stupid 2 cents! I'm so sick of it. This is why I have been hesitant to tell anyone about this. I don't want them to ruin my journey into LapBand and I refuse to let them. :rain: You ain't raining on my parade.

I will just enjoy this next day and be excited about my new life. There are so many people here on LBT that have been super successful w/this and I am focused on that. No, I'm not burying my head in the sand to those that have had complications, but they're to be expected.

I've made an informed decision and that's that.

Sorry for the rant!

Chimboree, rant on. I hate it when our friends try to protect us and show concern, but only end up pissing us off! It was very insensitive of your friend. I'm sure at some point down the road, she'll realize her mistake and apologize, and return to being the supportive person you expect.

Liquid Adult tylenol is a good idea, Kathy, and Gas-X strips for gas pain.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
