Renee Marie, so sorry about your bad things going on, and your dog, that's so sad. I'm so sorry. But you seem uplifted with the fact of your surgery on Tuesday, and your great new job, congrats to you.

IndioGirl, I haven't tried the ground beef or turkey yet, but I have tried turkey thin slices lunch meat. I can have chili, but most have Beans whick make it high on carbs, so I need to make my own. I don't know why, I'm just scared to eat it just yet. I can't have veggies unless it's baby food veggies, but I'm going to steam some squash and zucchini and try that.

Chim, have a great night!!!

Dini, you're here. Glad you've come back to see us babes!!

Phly, it gets beter, hang in there!!

Lynette, thanks for the info on your diet. I know they mentioned a calorie restriction for me, but not until the band is properly adjusted. I thought mushies would make life easier, but not as much so as I thought. I did try the refried Beans from Taco Bell last night...I swear it was the best thing I've tasted in awhile!!! Going to have to watch that one so I don't gain.

JulyBander, hope all goes well tomorrow. That is wild that they don't have you on the schedule. By all means, tell him not to rush your surgery just to 'fit' you in tomorrow. We want you back safe and sound!!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
