Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

sorry I haven't been in touch for a few days but as you know from my threads tuesday (day after surgery) I was so down I felt awful I was regretting it and everything,

Happy to say i'm feeling much better as the days have gone on, still a bit wary about how much to eat but i'm sure that will come.

Looking forward to going away next week, how was everyone who had to fly with pain and things?

Also major problem with bad breath !!!!! tried all sorts and my other half can't wait to tell me how bad it really is ...cheers.

Anyway to all those newbies it does get better ( I hope )

also thank you for all your kind thoughts while I was down in the dumps xxxx

CeCe, I am scheduled soon also. I have pretty much processed through the thoughts you are having now. I have to remind myself that the band WILL still be hard work. I remember it will be a TOOL to help me make the decisions I made more easily back when I was thin. It will help me remember the full feeling. Not failure! Just choosing a safe way to achieve your goals for a healthier life!! People might want to think this is an "easy fix" but I would dare them to try this route and then open their mouth!! Be excited about the great changes you will make with the help of your band - at least that's where I am now! C

Hello! My third post-op day went well and I've started to lose weight again! Which is no wonder with so few calories per day. I'll be glad when I can get off of these terrible shakes. I really don't like vanilla or chocolate sweet drinks!

Out of curiosity, how many of you are like me and haven't told anybody at their job that they are having surgery? I'm usually the one who tells everybody anything they would like to know, but decided to keep this very, very private!

Just curious!

It's funny I decided origanally to keep it to myself but I got so excited I couldn't help but tell people !! must admit I regret telling some people though as their response has been quite negative and I feel myself justifying what i have done.

Thanks, Lainy! I was thinking if I did it this way, I could always take others into my confidence later if I liked.

Thank you again to everyone for all the support and encouraging words. Today is a much better day. I am actually able to get up on my own and don't need help walking around. The worst discomfort I am feelling is in my chest and the doctors office said that is the gas trying to escape so they told me some stretchig and breathing things to do to help alleviate the discomfort and prevent getting the sharp back and shoulder pain. Any advice and of you have would be greatly apprecaited as well. Still a bit sore at the incesion sites of course but much better today.

Kcorbin~welcome to the group. Everyone here is so amazing and helpful!

Brandy--I have not told my parents or siblings, although my husband, kids, and close friends know. My family is very judgemental and generally not supportive of me so I would rather not get into it with them yet. As far as work is concerned, I am off during the summer so it's not an issue.

Hang in there Tinkerbell. I am sore and my back hurts from sitting differently. I have shoulder pain too. But every day it's a little better and at least I don't have to travel anymore--the landings were not fun! It was all worthwile when I got up this morning and weighed myself--down 7 from last week. I can take a little pain for that--especially knowing that it will not come back!

Yum, yum, oh yum. I finally got out of my boredom food rut. I'm so sick of the same ole limited foods. I'm getting tired of Soup. I spent time last night searching for new ideas and came across this one from Dr. Ortiz's book- Lap Band for Life. Slightly modified from original recipe.

1 scoop vanilla Protein Powder (we have Apex)

1 banana

1 TB creamy peanut butter

3/4 Cup nonfat milk

Some ice and about 1/3 cup water

I made it in my food processer b/c I don't like too much foam. It is SOOOOOO Good. I have found my life saving recipe for camping this weekend. I am so full now. I know this will hold me until dinner. What a relief. See how attached I am to my food!

Also, thanks Lynette for reminding me that we can add fruit to our Protein Drinks. I bought a crate of peaches at costco and plan on having cinnamon/peach/vanilla too.

I didn't tell anyone except immediate family, based on my {petite} mother's reaction, I didn't want to risk any other judgments. Luckily (or not depending on how you look at it) I work from home and interface only via phone and email with coworkers. I told them only I was having surgery and would be out a couple days (which turned to 3). They probably assume it's a female thing (they are all guys) and haven't even asked, except the general, "how are you feeling".

My moods are up and down -- checking the threads daily to keep motivated -- feeling a little alone in all this. Didn't really realize how much our lives revolved around where to eat, what to eat, etc..., until now - since I'm not eating (liquid stage). Tried to go out to dinner with the family the other night; what a waste, no Soups on the menu, so just sat there watching them eat (and eat and eat it seemed).

I wouldn't mind a glass of wine; but that's a nono too.

ho hum....

Hi Everyone!

Brandy- I decided to tell my co-workers, and most have been supportive. I am a teacher and I saw some of them last week during a summer class we had to take. They seemed to be happy for me. Their main concern was before surgery, but once it is over there is not much they can do!

Gladster- Welcome home. I am glad you loved Dr. Rodriguez. He is such a great doctor! (I guess I should have warned you about the long walk at the airport-sorry!:phanvan)

Appleblossom- Thanks for the recipe- I will try it for sure!

Tinkerbell- I am glad you are feeling better. I was in tears the second day and really found the only thing that made me feel better was walking. Just hang in there, it gets better each day!

I love our group of LUCKY SEVENS! Becca

Hello everyone,

sorry I have not posted lately, I have been trying to study for a big test next week.

I had to take time out to post this, however. I am on the soft/mushy stage of my post-op diet, and chicken salad is on my menu. Well the first time I had some I thought it had gotten "stuck" because I had some pain in my chest. So today I was boiling some chicken to make some chicken salad, because I was out of canned chicken salad, and deciced to eat a peice of chicken. Now I have eaten chicken since my first incidence with no problems. At any rate, after eating half of a chicken leg, I started getting this really uncomfortable feeling underneath my breasts, I thought it was gas pain, well it wasn't. For about 30 minutes I had the most intense pain that was radiating throughout my entire abdomen and even between my shoulder blades. I started sweating profusely and became very pale and nearly passed out. I managed to call my doctor and he is so sweet that he spoke to me himself and told me not to worry that it sounded like I got some food stuck and that it would pass, and (as he chuckled) he states, I don't mean to chuckle at you but please don't eat any more chicken, I said trust me I won't. So this went on for a few more minutes and it magically disappeared. I called him back to let him know that I was ok(left word with his nurse), and I will be on liquids for the next couple of days, and I have an appt on Monday.

But this was the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life...ever, If I had to imagine what a heart attack feels like I would definately compare it to this.

But I just wanted to share this with everyone, we live and we learn.

I feel much better now!!!!

Thanks for letting me share this.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
