Lynette Thank you for your honesty and your information. While all the good news is terrific to read on here, I think it's just as important for us all to know there are pitfalls we may not have taken into consideration had someone not relayed their own personal story to us.

I hope your pain and discomfort eases soon. Perhaps you should try the papaya enzymes again this morning? Here's hoping your day improves quickly but if it doesn't, don't hesitate to call your doctor and ask for advice. There may be a simple solution to this that you don't know of.

lainy, did you Dr. send you home with directions on how much to eat, or what you should eat? My Dr. had the amounts he wanted to me to eat, 4 ozs. at a time, and 3 meals/3 Snacks a day. Then I had a list of liquids to choose from.

As long as you're following Dr.'s orders, you'll be fine and it will be enough.

Try to get out of the house and walk, even just up and down the street, I promise it will make you feel beter. Sorry you're so down.

Do you think that this enough ?

If you're not feeling hungry, then I'd say so. Just make sure you have your daily requirement of Protein and Water.< /p>

When you're feeling down, what usually perks you up? For me it's something simple like a leisurely walk. Maybe you can watch a comedy movie? This doesn't work for me very well as I notice there are things in the movie that are meant to be funny and I would normally laugh at, but I'm not laughing because I'm depressed and that depresses me even more. Shopping? Manicure? Haircut? Maybe something physically uplifting will help with your mood.

Is it possible your menstrual cycle has something to do with it? Do you have a support system? Family? Friends? Someone you can talk to and say "I'm in a funk, what can we do to raise my spirits?" Don't confide in anyone who has a tendency to say "Snap out of it and get over it!" :D

Lynette and PattiC, oh boy. Thank you both for the heads up. Potatoes and bread. I will be steering clear. PattiC, glad you're feeling better this morning. And Lynette, I sure hope you get to feeling better. If not, certainly call your doc and just see what he/she has to say.

Lainy, I'm sorry you're feeling so down. Not to be too alarmed, but I believe anesthesia will bring on some depression post-op. Just stay plugged in w/us and let us know how you're feeling. If you need to, just PM (private message) me and we can talk.

Everyone else, how are you today??? I'm doing pretty well. Just cleaning house a bit. Trying to get things in order for next week. Wow. This weekend will be my last band-free weekend. :D Can't believe it's only a week away!!! YAY!!! I never thought it would get here.

Chim, It's just such a downer for me. I was doing so well, and my appointment went so good yesterday. I'm just beating myself up over this still. I know, there isn't anything I can do now, just try to learn from it and move on. I think I'd quit beating myself up if I felt better today, but I still feel something down there. Water is passing through just fine, but it seems like something is stuck on the side wall of the pouch or something. When I swallow the water, it's like gas comes up to meet the water as it's going down. I keep hoping a big burp will dislodge whatever is stuck. I ate 4 more papaya enzymes about 45 minutes ago, to no avail. Don't know what else I can do except stay on liquids and pray. Maybe I stretched the pouch too much, and it just needs time to relax and retract. It's a guessing game.

I know you're feeling bad about it, but try not to let it get you down too much. You are doing outstanding! I think you're doing right by doing liquids. It seems (from what I've read elsewhere on here) that when s'thing gets stuck like that, it may take a day or two before things feel back to normal. I guess it's from the pouch being irritated??? Just doing liquids will give it a chance to 'calm down'. I'm sorry sweetie. :cry

lainy, that is odd about the Protein drinks.< /p>

All Dr.s have their own diets and phases and what they want you to drink, but I guess I figured everyone would be drinking the Protein Shakes. Protein in your diet is necessary. It helps keep you feeling full, which is the best thing it does, but it also helps other areas like your hair. If you don't get enought protein you will start losing some, not a bunch, but protein helps keep the hair you have. I'd call and see if your Dr. maybe just forgot to mention it to you, or maybe you'll start on these in a later phase.

Lynette. dont be so down on yourself. did you expect you to get it 100% right straight away. eh i hope not cos no-one is perfect. this is all new to you.

I have eaten all types of bread even Italian and i have no problems at all with them so its just that you are in the bunch that can't eat bread.

On Sunday i had some chicken, i taught i chewed it enough. it got stuck! i was walking around ,banding my chest, trying to cough it up! nothing! i wanted to drink Water but i said NO if i do it once i'll do it again. Waited 45 mins drank water still there. I was so uncomfortable but later that night as i was working it just disapeared the pain. anyways I didn't beat myself up over it cos thats going to happen what i know now is i've to chew a hell of a lot more....

hope your feeling better now and the pain is gone! xx

Lainy, try not to be too stressed about all of this. Just follow your docs orders and I think you will be fine. I know it can get overwhelming, but you will do just fine. And besides, you have us to come to w/any questions or concerns. We'll help guide you. If you're still having dietary questions, I'd call your docs/nutritionist's office. They're s'posed to be there for you.

You'll be okay. It's all good!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
