Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I already asked this once, but I'm afraid it's going to get lost in the midst of all these pages, and no one will answer...

Something has occurred to me, that I'm not sure is normal or not... I have heard everyone say that you have to 'sip' constantly, that you can't take regular drinks... I can drink just fine. Just the way I did before, with no problems... I figured this was just because I haven't had a fill yet... is that right?

And you guys are talking about being full after drinking too much. I haven't felt full at all... but I haven't felt hungry either.

Is this normal? Or should I be feeling more restriction with just the band alone?

~*Ash*~

Ashrae: I wouldn't worry about this. I also can take regular drinks and feel fine. I haven't really felt FULL, like after you eat an enormous meal but just satisfied like I didn't need anymore. I've been drinking a cup or so of Soup at a time, a container of yogurt, a container of pudding, etc with no problems. But at this stage it is all liquids so I've been drinking water/fluids with whatever I'm eating. Some people have bands placed that are snugger fitting right away and so have more restriction. Believe me, my first band was too tight and it was sheer misery feeling that chest pain and pressure after drinking 1-2 ounces. I'm sure you'll have more restriction after having your first fill. Everyone has different experiences, I think it sounds like your doing just fine. No worries!

Hi all. Just thought I would tell you all that I am feeling better tonight. I got ahold of my doctors office this am and asked them to change the antibiotic because ZPAC just doesn't seem to really cut it for me much. They changed it to Levoquin and WOW does that stuff kick in. Nose is drying up and I think I just might still be able to have surgery on Monday!! YAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!! I was supposed to go tomorrow for my pre op physical but I asked to be switched with my daughter because she has an appointment on Friday and mine was tomorrow. That way I figured I would have 4 days of the meds and that much better.

I want to wish everyone good luck tomorrow with their banding. I will be thinking of you and envying you all day.

Lynnette your recipe does sound good. I am going to try it as soon as I can. I have made it a goal that my family will be eating very healthy also because that is how I will be cooking or making meals. What is good for me has to be good for them.

Thanks everyone for your replies and support. It is wonderful to have such a great group of people to lean on. I love lap band talk!!!!

Dini, your little beauty is just perfect for my little man. We have to meet now!!! How's are tees coming along?

forgve70x7, did you say 8 WEEKS???? You're not giving birth!! OMG, that's a little long!!

Frustratd, I bet you'll be asking your Dr. first thing whan you see him!!!

Went to dinner at IHOP. I did good, and was able to order a childs Breakfast meal. Only ate about 5, maybe 6 ozs as I am still full, so I think I may have over done it. No snack for me tonight.

Then we went to Dicks. The sporting good store.

I bought some wrist and ankle weights to use when I'm walking. Can't wait to try them out tomorrow.

Dini, Your Annafrancesda is just precious. I wanted to hug her thru the screen. You certainly have something very special to modivate you to get yourself in the best health possible. I am single, and have never been married and have no children. I am also 53, so I am too old to do anything but spoil my nieces and nephews and be very jealous of wonderful people like you who are doing so much to raise up loving and precious children. Thank you for sharing her with us.

And all of you other Lucky Sevens, do know how much your sharing your family and lives with me means. I truely love each of you and appreciate all of your encouragement and enthusiam. For some reason I am having a teary night and coming to this sight has already helped so much. Thanks so much and have a wonderful evening and GREAT tomorrow!

Patti C

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
