Thanks Ash! I'll be going back to work next Monday as well! Don't think I'll have any problem with that at all.

Hello all,

I was banded 7/11. I'm feeling nearly normal today. The first couple days were rougher than I expected. Mostly due to not tolerating the lortab and having some nausea and vomiting. That scared me, but it was short-lived. Couldn't even sip much til Saturday, then finally managed a Protein Shake. Today I was able to eat a whole yogurt (took 45 min) and a Protein shake.

I find it funny how different everyone's dr's orders are. Mine wants me on liquids until my appt next Fri (2 1/2 wks postop).

I miss food, but not nearly as much as I expected. I find myself fixing really GOOD stuff for the family now - overcompensating I suppose.

Today I felt like I didn't have a band - found myself chugging a bit on my Water instead of sipping. Felt a little hungry, but that went away pretty quick after protein shake. Had no problem drinking the whole protein shake today, though I took my time. I'm still having trouble finding a good sleep position; trying not to stay on side too much.

I have superglue holding my incisions (soluble staples on the inside). Getting a little itchy, don't hurt too much anymore. Haven't had any pain med since day one (made me too sick).

I'm so glad I did this! I checked the scales, and if they are correct, I've lost another 13 lbs since my pre-op appt (6 days before surg)!!

I won't lie, yesterday was really hard on me. (I think most of that was just not WANTING to be here tho ya know?) I went home last night, crashed, got a good night's sleep, and today I feel 100 times better. The only thing I've done is put a pillow between me and the desk, because I know if I'm not careful I'll hit my incisions on my desk... and as my mother put it "That'd be an ouch"

Also I wanted to suggest that you put your ticker in your signature. If you're unsure of how to do that, at the top of the page click "Quick Links" then go to edit signature, voila!

That sounds like great progress to me! My doctor is all liquids for two weeks, then pureed for four weeks, and then soft foods! I lost 12.5 pounds on the pre-op diet, but gained a bit due to the IV fluids on my surgery day, but it will come back off quickly I expect.

I totally last suppered, which I shouldn't have! But I had a liquid pre-op of 4 Days, then I'm on liquids for the next 2 weeks, then 2 weeks of soft, then regular food.

They said I could have Mac & cheese (If it's low fat cheese) on my mushies, and I have to tell you, I am so ready for that! Im such a picky eater, so until I get meat it's going to be hard for me. But I am definitely a chicken eater, so that's good!

Think I did as you suggested with the signature, but it posted my last one with the new signature, so got two tickers. Think I'll get it right now. Then you just have to update the signature each time your weight changes I guess. Couldn't get it to point to the URL, so just pasted it in!

When you created your ticker you should've gotten a pin #, and you can go back and update the ticker, and it will automatically update the image in your signature! No need to always be updating your signature, thank god!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
