What a wonderful wonderful experience I am having. I will type in greater detail when I get back home. I have been treated like a princess this entire trip. Every staff member is kind, compassionate and every so qualified. The best needle stick ever, the best IV poke, best wake up after anesthesia experience etc. Absolutely perfect this far. My room is like a day spa room....light beige, brown suede drapes and chair, complimenting sofa and carpet. Phone and internet access....flat screen tv all english channels, xm radio. Even a fountain in my lovely room.

I am in a little pain and they are helping me manage very well. There is a nurse for each patient tonight and others here doing laundry, cleaning, stocking supplies ect. What a magnificent operation I chose. I am so thankful for the internet and my God given mind to do research.

I already scheduled my fill back here. These people have my trust and confidence in full. I'm sure I sound like an Obesity Control Center ad, but I am grateful, I am pleased with how this experience has gone. I hope each of you has similar experiences.

Take Care and more weight loss wishes to all.:kiss2:

Hi Peaches,

Looks like I will be at the TLBC tomorrow night for the nutrition/info session. So we get to meet in person. I have to go into TO for a meeting in the afternoon, so will stick around for the meeting.

See you then,

Thanks for the update Mommiranda--it's encouraging. I watched Big Medicine tonight too. I hope they follow up with the patient in future episodes.

I have been the "other person" in a situation similar to yours. I teach nursing and last year one of my students was banded. I was envious becasue I had tried and tried everything to get my insurance to pay for the surgery to no avail. Ive been working longer than she has been alive, and the student never worked but was able to have the surgery covered by her husband's policy. When I found out that I could get it done in Mexico for less than half the cost of doing it here, I made up my mind to bite the bullet and pay for it myself.

It is unfair that some can and some can't, but if she wants it badly enough, she will find a way to get it done. Maybe she can sell candy bars or have a bake sale to raise money. . . (That is supposed to be funny) The point is to try to support her and help her brainstorm possibilities. Maybe we can set up some kind of "scholarship" fund--who knows? There seems to be a lot of demand--maybe someone can make a business out of financing the surgery for ppl who don't have insurance. We need some PR people--where is Donald Trump?

Appleblossom, I'm so glad you're doing well. Keep it up and you'll be on the losers bench soon!!

cazulay, the bodybogg is this thing you wear on your arm that helps you count your calories, keeps track of your movement and excercise, and basically lets you know it you are on track to lose weight for the day.

You can find out more at bodybugg.com. They are expensive, $399.99 and you have to sign up for the website also, another $99 a year or something like that. I found this watch at Walmart that seems to do all the same things, for $39.88 and I just wnet to website to register my watch, and I've paid nothing to join there MIO club, and I have full axcess to the website. I'm still checking it out though. Wanted to see if Chimboree was still on here tonight because she's been researching longer than I so I figured I'd let her check it out too, just to see if it's comparable.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Been busy and then we went on vacation. I don't do a lot of posting more lurking and reading than anything.

Ok so I just started my liquid pre op today. My doc requires 2 weeks pre op of Clear Liquids and 2 weeks post op clear liquid. This SUCKS!! The kids cooked a pizza earlier and I swear it smelled so good. I don't even eat Tombstone pizze 99.99% of the time when they cook it but tonight I wanted to. Instead I just got my Jello with beneprotein and a juice box of Boost Breeze and came on here to read and post. Had to leave the kitchen because the pizza was to tempting.

I can't really say that I feel 'hungry' after eating the jello and drinking the boost but I can say that I am 'craving' the pizza. It is just a head thing right now. It is almost 10pm and now is when I think my struggle will start. I am one who eats apples and/or a bowl of melons at night while watching tv. I am going to try to just go to bed. I usually stay up until 1am but I am going to try to start going to bed earlier also.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing great and good luck to all who are on deck this week.

Anyway, she told me not to eat red Jello b/c durring surgery when I bleed, the doctor won't be able to tell the difference between the blood and jello. Has anyone's doctor told them not to eat red jello before surgery? I only like strawberry jello.
My nutritionist actually told me that, also. I think it is geared more towards RNY folks, though, since their stomach and intestines are actually cut. I don't think it really matters for lap-band folks.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
