dmtjet, my Snickerdoodle Protein Shake was wonderful this morning!!!

My new one I'm going to try after I get to the store this weekend is MINT chocolate. I'm going to get some mint flavoring (for baking) and add it into my chocolate Protein shake. Sound good?

I know they have banana and strawbery flavors also so I'm thinking Chocolate covered banana shake, and Chocolate covered strawberry shake also. Yum, Yum.

Lynette-you are just amazing me. I hope all goes as smooth with my surgery- Hopefully after 4 c-section, gallbladder removal, and hernia repair operations, I am going to just sail through this one.

My screen name is very clear-----I am doing this only for me!!!

Anna

My screen name is not to original but gets the job done. chickb13- Chick is my last name, b stands for Brandy, and 13 because I was born on the 13th, so was my son, and I was married on the 13th (it's a very lucky number for me :biggrin1:).

dmtjet, yes, yours was puzzling. I thought you may have been a pilot flying some kind of 'jet' or something. That's why I used yours in my example. I just think it's neat what people come up with on here. I wish I had been more creative, but like you said, I didn't know what it was going to be used for either. Oh well.:)

dmtjet, it was me asking, but that's ok. The mind goes out the door when your this close to your date. Happened to me too.

So I need some advice myself from any ladies who have girls, teenage girls. My DH's ex called yesterday. My 12 1/2 yeal old step daughter had her first visit from 'Aunt Flo' yesterday. She's visiting this weekend, as we get his kids every other weekend, and I don't even know what to expect. The moodyness has been there for a while, but now it's going to be different. I'd love to take her out for a girls night, but I can't drive. Any suggestions would be helpful to me as it's an extremely important time in her life!! Don't want to screw this up, you know.

Want her to know that this is a changing day in her life forever, but don't want to scare her either. So how have some of you handled the situation?

dmtjet, I keep having this rumbling in my stomach that I'm not sure if it's gas or hunger pains. I sometimes feel like I can do a 6 oz shake instead of the 4 oz I can have, but I'm afraid to stretch the pouch. So I stick with the 4 oz, and drink lot of Water inbetween, about 16 ozs inbetween the meals and Snacks.< /p>

Nice question Lynette!

My screen name? :heh: Kind of obvious, but I'll relate the story behind it.

I can't recall how I stumbled over the forum, but I reading over it and hadn't yet registered. Looking for information on my impending surgery. All the paperwork had been sent to the insurance co. a couple of weeks earlier. I'd taken a break and went to check the mail. There was a letter from the insurance co. denying me because it was deemed "not medically necessary" :)

I called the number on the letter and was given the number for the person who actually made the decision. I was furious at that time and couldn't believe my luck at being able to talk with the ass who didn't know what the hell he was doing.

Apparently I wasn't fat enough. My BMI was 36 and I believed because of my PCOS and insulin resistance, I was on the fast track to diabetes and more if I couldn't stop the pounds from piling on. He said I hadn't had an official diagnosis of diabetes, so I didn't qualify for co-morbidities, plus the fact I was only on one medication for it and they required I be on two. Was he serious?

I was astounded!:omg: I asked right out "So I'm not fat enough or ill enough to qualify and I have to WAIT until I am?" He said, "Yes, pretty much." So then I asked him what I needed to do. He pondered for a while and said "Well if your BMI was 40, you would qualify without the need for co-morbidities." *blink* "So I need to get fatter in order to be able to get thinner?" He responded with "Yes, but there's no way you could gain that weight.*chuckle*" I don't know what bugged me more, the fact that all it would take would be to gain more weight, or the fact that this moron thought I couldn't possibly do it.

I saw it as a challenge! I hung up the phone, had a good cry, complained to my hubby and got him to calm me down. Then I came online and was feeling "Frustrated" by the whole experience. The rest, as they say, is history. :)

frusterated, I'm still chuckling at that. So how many pounds do you think seperates a BMI of 36 and a BMI of 40??? Or should I ask, how many ice cream sundaes, super sized fries, etc:eek:. Sorry, I forgot some are on pre-op diets, won't do it again.

Someone should write a book about experiences people have had with their insurance companies to get this surgery covered. It would sell millions. I'd buy it.:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
