Danny, I think it's great what you're doing, and at 33. I know in the classes I had to attend all the men were older, in there 50's, even 60's looking to me. Then on the other end, the women who were half younger, and half older. I know I'm glad I did this at 35. I don't want to waste anymore of my life away.

I'm a mother of a 3 year old, and he is my insperation to be the best I can be. Having had him later in life, it puts being healthy and being there for him in a whole new perspective. In the last 3 years after he was born I tried everything to take of the weight. Nothing worked. I have hereditary cardiovascular disease in the family that took my father at the age of 43, and took my fathers father at the age of 40. I couldn't stand to think I could be gone in 5 years, and never get to see my son graduate, from elementary school!!

So I know what you mean about wanting to be a healthy father for your kids and wife. There is no better insperation for us. Best of luck to you on Monday.

tHANKS LYNETTE, i HOPE EVERYTHING IS GOING WELL FOR ALL THE LUCKY #7'S , MY LITTLE GIRL JUST WATCHING HER FULL OF LIFE, ENERGY, AND THEN LOOKING AT ME A COUCH POTATO. SHE WILL BE LIKE DAD COME PLAY WITH ME , I TRY BUT SHORTNESS OF BREATH ALWAYS SEEMS TO GET THE BEST OF ME. A COUPLE MORE DAYS AND A YEAR OF PROPER DIET AND EXCERCISE, HOPEFULLY EVERY THING WILL BE CURED!!

i LOVE READING EVERY ONES THREAD, I FEEL LIKE WE HAVE OUR OWN LITTLE SOAP OPRA. TALK TO YOU GUYS LATER, I HAVE ABOUT 10 PAGES OF CATCHING UP, WITH ALL THESE THREADS ,YOU GUYS MAKE ME LAUGH, DANNY

Hey Danny,

I am glad that your wife gets to go with you. I think its great!! I waited too long to tell my mom and dad about having my surgery. Now that my mom knows, she wants to come with me but has a huge project meeting that day and can't get a decently priced flight. So I have decided to do at it alone!! I don't think Alltel or Sprint work internationally. I aksed the very same question of my dr. He said I would have to remove a block to allow international call from my phone, but offered to let me use his cell phone to call my parents from Monterrey. Sounds like you are getting ready to be banded and on your way to meet your goal!!

Danny, that's great that your wife can go with you. Have a safe trip, and you have my best wishes for a safe return home, and a speedy recovery. Don't know about the phone service as I've never been to Mexico. Get well soon as post as soon as you feel up to it. We'll be looking forward to hearing about your experience!:)

Dini, have fun cleaning up. I'd make Adam do it, tell him you're not feeling well.:faint:Feeling very faint!!!

I love these questions. They really get my brain working into overdrive. Does my weight embarrass me? Yes. I'm embarrassed when I can't fit into a booth at the restaurant comfortably. I'm embarrassed when my son's peers (they're certainly not friends) taunt him because his mother is fat.

But embarrassment isn't the only emotion I suffer from either. I didn't choose my user name for nothing. My weight and my lack of control over it frustrates me. I can't do activities as freely as I'd like. I can't play rough and tumble with my son without fear of crushing him with my weight.

I'm angry with it. It's caused me so many health problems. Problems I wouldn't have if I could get it under control! I enjoy exercise and being active, my ever-increasing weight is inhibiting my ability to do so many things I enjoy because I either can't haul my weight around to do them, or I run out of energy just as things are getting good.

Oh and please don't get me started on the effect it has on my sex life..... cry.gif My husband loves me unconditionally. And he's never, EVER made me feel like the extra pounds makes me less attractive. (WARNING: possibly TMI follows) But there is a limit to the positions I can enjoy, to how much I can bend my knees, how long I can keep them in the air, how much energy it takes to last longer than 15 minutes, how awful I feel with this huge tyre constantly around my stomach, how I don't even know any more what it looks like down there ... angry.gif Doh! I got started, didn't I? embarrassed.gif

Positive things about my weight? think.gifthink.gifthink.gifthink.gif I'm not anorexic? rolleyes.gif __________________

Hey Michelle, I know what you mean by that overpriced flight, 2 days after I made my flight, my wifes flight was $400.00 more, but I think it will be worth it, well maybe(she is pregnant) , maybe I should of went bymyself, just kidding you know us guys are the biggest babies!! I can't wait for the day, when the hostess says table or booth, I can say Booth and be comfortable. YOU ARE GOING TO DO WELL, i JUST HAVE A GOOD FEELING about your surgery. This group is great, talk to ya'll later Danny

Hello all. Sunshine here just hoping to brighten you day!

Welcome AppleBlossom, grammarcoquette, gladster, coltonwade, tengal and anyone else I may have missed. There is so much here to read.

You can definitely tell who has had their band put in...they are the ones always posting, bored at home healing.:) Not naming any names Lynette and Dini...:heh:

Cherrybomb and LWesson, I sure hope everything is going well today. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mommiranda, I think its pretty normal to be nervous. I am nervous and I am not having my surgery until the end of the month.

Danny, good luck with your surgery. I know what you mean about not being able to play. Just think, in a few months your daughter will be trying to keep up with YOU. I am glad your wife is getting to go. It is pretty down there.

Lynette, I can't believe you have lost 8 LBS this week. What can I say? You are my idol after all. :clap2: That is so great!!! I bet you miss your little one. I always liked it when they went to stay and liked it when they came home.

Dini, my little Irish Sis, How are you doing? Knock Adam up side the head for me and tell him its from Sunny. I can just see Annafrancesca dancing around in her tutu bathing suit. I have one...JK I always go those for my Kelly when she was little. Now the problem is making sure they suit is big enough to cover stategic places so she won't be arrested.:) I must say, if I had her body I would wear what she wears.

You asked if we were embarassed by our weight...I don't think embarassed is the word. Although I must say I did feel a twinge at the beach. I think it is just I don't feel attractive at my weight. I always feel attractive, even heavy, but in the last year I don't. So, I don't like it

Let me get back to work...

Sunny, Sunny, aren't you funny:eyebrows:. Ok, so I don't know how I'm gonna make it 4 weeks at home when I'm only 3 days in, and this bored. But as soon as I can drive, I'll be out shopping for smaller clothes!!! And I've been walking, and taking naps during the day too.

Frusterated, I hear you loud and clear. In intimate situations, I'm ready to be done in 15 minutes, but look forward to something longer once I get this weight off. I'll probably end up "killing my DH" when all is said and done.:phanvan

Dini, what size is your band? Mine is only 4cc, and your ready for a 3cc fill??? When do you go to the Dr. next? I'd have them check for a leak. You should not be so hungry with a fill already. You're scaring me girl!!

You should let your daughter dance in the rain!!! I'm sure she's a cuttie, puttie in that tu-tu. :)

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
