Thanks Nelli. I just knew it was new terminology that I had not investigated. I studied long and hard before deciding that Lap Band was for me. I just have 12 days to go. Can hardly wait, but I am getting kinda scared also. My friend just talked to me and told me to just focus on the big picture and how much better I am going to feel. I am praying daily and taking her advice. She has Gastric Bypass two years ago and has had no complications. She looks and feels wonderful. I just hope I will be that successful. I WILL! and you will too. Good Luck.

nulife2be,

I bought my vanilla and chocolate Protein Powder at Walmart. It's called Body Fortress and it has 23 g of Protein per scoop. The vanilla is pretty good but haen't tried the chocolate yet. I'm using slim fast for Protein Shakes, and mixing in the powder with it.

I bought an off brand of childrens chewables from Krogers that are awful (but my son is taking them well). I'm thinking I may try the Vitaballs- they're the gum balls, or the gummie bears. Just don't know how well they'll go down.

As for pre-op diet, every Dr. has something different in mind for this. I don't have a pre op diet to follow.

Hope this helps you out some.

Thanks Marcy.

Dini, Girlfriend, I don't think it's selfish. I'd hate to be 5 hours in front of everyone else, or most everybody. I'm sure it's hard to keep up, but I'm sure once July is in full swing we will all be on here earlier since we'll have some time off.

Heading out to eat my last good meal before getting banded. I figured I'm going to eat light tomorrow, so here goes nothing.:omg:

We have a special needs son, Jesse, who is hearing impaired, intellectually challenged, has epilepsy, ADHD and OCD (to name a few things). Beyond his labels... he is our pride and joy.

I am a Special Ed. teacher so I sort of know what you go thru every day, I am glad you are taking care of yourself because this way you will be able to take better care of your kids. One of the reasons why I want to do surgery is to able to keep with with ' MY KIDS' none biological but they all live in my heart neverthless.

You go girl!

Thanks Cazulay!

You must be an amazing person to work with special kids every day. Our son's teacher is so kind and patient. I know how hard it is to keep up with these kids... so as a mom, thanks for your desire to keep up with them.

Kathy

Tinkerbell--hi, welcome--I'm new too. My surgery is on the 11th, and I started the pre-op diet on June 25th. I've lost 7 pounds of 15 so far. We can do it! ;) BTW, I love Tink. I have a Tink lunchbox (for when I used to work) and a Tink housekey. I technically have a T-shirt as well, but I stopped wearing it about 60 lbs. ago, even though it's an XL. I almost stole my step-daughter's Tinkerbell watch, because my husband was very excited when we bought it for her, but she has never worn it and she keeps leaving it here when she flies back home. I have, however, foregone the Tink flip-flops which proliferate in all the stores this time of year because I know I'll just be stepping on her face and getting her all dirty!

Felicia --be careful, some juries have skinny people on them! Hang in there. My doc wants 4 week post-op liquids and, though I try to block it out now, I think that's going to be much harder!

I love Tinkerbell too!!! When our adopted daughter moved in (she was 2), I painted her bedroom in a Tinkerbell inspired theme... green and purple with light purple pixie dust and a flower & butterfly theme around the crib, door frame and window. She loves the bright colours and its such a happy, fun room to be in.

bfyneNtyme, welcome.

We have the same banding date, so I'm no longer alone on Monday.

I think it's safe to say we all feel blessed too, but I feel Lucky to have a date in July, and Lucky to have met such a wonderful support group here. And since I was younger, the #7 has always been my Lucky number. So I'm both blessed and Lucky.;)

Lyn..yes you are lucky and blessed! I pray all goes well for you on Monday. I know you're excited and so am I. I'm 39 and I weight 196 standing a tall 5ft 1 1/2 inch. So I'm eagered to get on board with my new life. I can only dream of all the beautiful clothes that I'll be able to purchase and wear. Right now I'm in a 14 but my ultimate goal is to loose 60-70 lbs based on how I look and get down to a size 8. I know I'll do it, it's just a matter of getting banded. God bless you and I truly hope all goes well!

Be bless...Lucky 7.

Quote Sunshine6855 "Just think, when I have my surgery on July 26 your will be a full month with yours. I am a little jealous here...

My thoughts are with all of you that have to do a pre-op diet. My surgeon does not require one. Not that I am rubbing it in"

Hi Sunny, we have the same banding day. Lucky you... with no pre-op diet. I don't know if I will last on mine, since I hate cottage cheese, and that's one of two things I'm allowed to eat for two weeks. :faint:

Take care,

Kathy

I am heading to NH today and will not visit LPT until next Sunday when I get back home. I do not want to tell my in-laws about the surgery as they are big on negativity and criticism, so I will not be using my MIL computer because I do not want her to see it. I might be a little paranoid but I have enough to deal with without extra pressure from the in-laws. DH is great and has agreed not to say anything to his family. We'll see.

I can't wait to get back and read all about people's surgeries and pre-op diets. I don't start mine until I get back- Thank God! MIL might have a lot of faults but she is great cook that's for sure. So eating her food will be my version of the last supper...

I am not telling anyone about the band. OK, my mom knows - she is a nurse and was banded 2 months ago and my boyfriend, that is it. I have decided if anyone asks about the weight loss (cause there will be some darn it) I am going to tell them I hired a personal trainer. I decided I am going to refer to the band as the personal trainer, his name will be Boris. Boris sounds foreign and I always wanted a foreign personal trainer with a sexy accent. So if someone asks me if I want cake, I am just gonna say "Boris doesn't allow it" -- and it is the truth cause he will make me choke it back up. :eyebrows:

Hi LyssaRene,

I love you idea... Boris won't allow it. Brilliant. I'm not telling too many people either. Not because I'm not proud of my decision. I believe most people who don't or have never had a weight problem have not clue what we deal with. They simply see us as lazy and weak. That of course is just not true. We are incredibly strong... I'd like to see some of my skinny co-workers carry around an extra 125 lbs every minute of the day... that's strong! Because they don't understand, I would rather they not know, because they would just judge incorrectly.

Hi Lynette,

Good luck... I'll be thinking about you on the 2nd. Will you be in the hospital overnight? :notagree

I will have my band done in the doctors clinic and get to go home about 4 hours later. No hospital. I'm not really sure I like that, but that's how they do it here in Canada. ;) Unless you have a huge health risk (heart problems), they do it in their clinic.

Take care!:clap2::clap2:

Kathy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
