meyouus 415 Posted November 16, 2014 I had a liver sonogram for another reason, but they said I have a fatty liver. Will this keep me from having band revision to RNY?
esskay77 785 Posted November 16, 2014 No, though this is one of the reasons they want you to lose weight before the surgery--to reduce the size of your liver. The liver is kind of in the way so if they can reduce it's size back to normal, then the surgery is easier to do. Losing weight should reduce the size of the liver, I believe. At least that is what my surgeon told me.
Mommabird 367 Posted November 16, 2014 I was diagnosed with fatty liver a year ago. My surgeon told me that when I start the pre-op diet that he might have me on it three weeks instead of the typical two weeks. This is to make sure that my liver shrinks enough. hippieista 12 Posted November 19, 2014 I am not having a revision, but I am having the gastric bypass because I have a fatty liver and this should resolve it. The weight I have lost preop has brought my enzyme numbers to almost within the normal range.
